I decided on a small cheese pizza and chargrilled wings with their "Jenny" sauce on the side. The pizza was very good, there was a good amount of cheese and the sauce was tasty. I don't care for a thick crust (and this wasn't thick at all), but it was so thin that I actually wished it had a little more dough. It was very nicely cooked and I did enjoy it. The wings were chargrilled perfectly, and were very juicy inside. The Jenny sauce was okay, I found it was a bit lacking in flavor, for my taste. I'd definitely get the wings again and try a different sauce. It was very busy and the service was great. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying one of their specialty pizzas! read more

This is a great pizza place really good pizza they give it 100%. They care taste great their chicken wings are awesome and they charge$7.75 for 10 wings and they're good and they're the same size are bigger than a lot of other pizza places. Yes Yes Yes, we love and can't say enough good things about this place. If you haven't taken the short drive out to Cato and had this Pizza well you're definitely missing out. The first time I stopped here was on a Fluke, I was looking for a quick bite while working and all it took Was one time and I was hooked. I've gone several times now and I've never been disappointed,We've tried Cheese, pepperoni, chicken wing and Garlic pizza and all have been great. We've also had their wings they make them fresh and crispy. Large pepperoni and 20 wings $32.00 I've had the same in Mattydale for close to $47.00... OMG!!! A friend and his family met me at NYP. They said it was great. THEY WERE NOT WRONG! Got there Sunday @ 1. Line was almost out the door but it moved really fast. Service was fast and they hussle! Very nice staff. There are a good number of tables if you place your order at the counter and want to stay and eat there. It appeared most of their business is take out. The wings were PERFECT!!! Asked for hot and crisp and they were. So many places do not know how to make crisp wings! You can ask for just flats or drums, no extra charge which is nice. And they charbroil them for a minimal charge if you want. I am a wing snob, and out of all the places I've tried, I think NYP is #1 or 2 for wings in my area. The pizza was EXCELLENT! Awesome handmade crust, great tomato sauce and fresh veggies. Lots of pepperoni! The price? Here it is Nov 2024. The pizza places around my rural town charge $14 to $15.99 for 10 wings! NYP is only $10 and change for 10! I couldn't believe it. And they are not tiny wings! The pizza price was also less than the joints near me. I live 40 mins away from NYP but it is where I am going from now on! I almost diidn't write this. Settled on the corner of Main St and South St right in the middle of the Village of Cato is New York Pizzeria, a little family owned pizza shop selling your usual offerings of pizza, wings, and fried foods. My wife and I recently moved to Cato, and New York Pizzeria is right on the corner of my street. After a long moving day, my wife and I, completely beat and tired, knew we weren't cooking dinner, so we decided to make our first order at the little pizza shop down the street that friends of mine have raved about. We didn't have a menu and couldn't find one online, so I walked over and ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and 20 hot wings, along with an order of their "tenders o' fire", which I was curious about seeing it on their chalkboards that hang over their counter, serving as a quick-look menu. It's a nice little place inside, much nicer than most local pizza shops, and a decent size inside with several tables for people to sit. It was a Saturday night, and while the village is small, the place was packed. Seems the whole town was there, but my food was still ready within the time they told me it would be, though I did have to remind them that I had ordered tenders and they were quickly thrown in after everything else was done. I got home and we got down on it. Everything was good. One thing you'll probably never hear me say again is there was a tad too much cheese on the pizza, and it made the middle of the pizza very soft and hard to pull the pieces apart without the slice breaking or all the cheese sliding off. Sauce was good though, not too sweet, homemade dough crust. Wings were good as well. Cooked correctly, good hot sauce on them. I expected the "tenders o' fire" to either be buffalo tenders of spicy in some way, but they really weren't. When you bit into them, there was a thin layer of red you could see between the chicken and the breading, so it seemed like they were possible dipped in a hot sauce, then breaded. Again, they weren't spicy at all, but they were tasty, high quality tenders. The wife and I were best, so we honestly didn't eat much of it that night, and I thought I'd save my review for when we tried it again, which we did a week later with some friends over. We got the same thing, no tenders, but this time we tried their garlic sauce instead of red sauce. This time was even better than before, the cheese had adhered to the pizza a bit better than the week before, and the garlic sauce was great. Wings were just as good as the last time. I also tried then yet again on a night where the wife and I were fending for ourselves, dinner wise. Wanting to switch it up a bit, I got an order of mozzarella sticks and some boneless wings tossed in their "Jenny" sauce, which I was told was a combo of their sweet & sour and medium buffalo sauce. The sauce was interesting, but tasty. Mozzarella sticks were decent. Prices were comparable to other local pizza shops. Employees were friendly, clearly a family run business and they remembered their regular customers. Overall, great little pizza place that I'd recommend and I'm sure we'll be regulars. read more

Sometimes incredibly good food turns up in the darnedest places, and this is a great example. Cato is not exactly a teeming metropolis: it's a rural village of less than 2,500 residents. The restaurant doesn't look remarkable but is easy to find: it's right on the corner with the one and only traffic light. But their pizza is at least as good as anything you will find in Syracuse (a city with a large Italian population and more than a few decent Italian restaurants). My typical order is their large pizza with pepperoni and sausage, and it keeps me coming back for more. The crust is hand-tossed from fresh dough; it has a nice yeasty flavor and a consistency that holds up well to toppings without being chewy. It's not exactly thin: probably about a quarter of an inch thick, so it doesn't become a floppy mess. Despite the thickness and all the toppings, the pizza is cooked just right: the dough is fully baked all the way through without being burnt. Plentiful cheese tops a pretty good tomato sauce that is tasty and yet unobtrusive. Toppings are plentiful, and their sausage appears to be pan-fried: the chunks are large and varied enough to let you know you're eating the real thing, not the uniformly extruded little doots you get from chain restaurants. If you like foods with genuine texture, you will appreciate this. A large pizza is indeed large: while places like Dominos call a 14" pie large, New York Pizzeria is closer to 18", sliced eight ways. Two slices pretty much fills me up. My wife is not so much a fan of pizza, and loves their subs. I haven't tried them, but like the pizza, they are generously sized and the ingredients looks fresh and appealing. She particularly likes the bread. If you are looking for a nice ride through the countryside (Cato is about half a mile from Syracuse or twenty minutes north of Auburn), New York Pizzeria is a surprisingly good destination, and worth the trip. read more
