Just moved to Skan after a long time in NY and then Utica for a bit. I was super impressed. This is the best NY style slice i've had since NYC and i've tried everything. A sweeter sauce, perfect bottom and good crust. It reminded of Dani's in Queens with the sweeter sauce, and very different than Joe's in NYC in that it has way more cheese. Original owner Angelo D'Angelo moved to America from Italy in 1949 and opened a pizzeria in Brooklyn, before moving to Auburn and opening Angelo's Pizza in 1960. Current owner Matt Barlotta bought it from Angelo in 2002, but Angelo still frequently comes in to be in the shop he started all those decades ago. I've passed Angelo's several times, but I don't live in Auburn, so I'd never stopped. Recently, some friends and I were in Auburn and were looking for some lunch. I had seen someone mention on social media that Angelo's has a pickle pizza. We all love pickle pizza, but few places have it on their menu at all times, so we decided to stop in and grab one. Plenty of off street parking on the side of the building. Small place, one table in the back and some seats at a counter to eat at. We sat at the counter and ordered 2 pizza, a pickle pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Both were made quickly, and we were eating within 20 minutes. Both were delicious and perfect as far as the way I enjoy pizza. The dough was thin, but sturdy and didn't flop around when eating, it was cooked perfectly, the cheese was slightly browned instead of just melted, the sauces (tomato on the pepperoni and garlic on the pickle) were both tasty and applied in a perfect amount, the toppings were plentiful....I really have no complaints about the pizzas at all. There were 3 employees working and all 3 of them were friendly and talked with us in passing. It came to a little over $50 for 1 extra large, 1 large and 3 drinks, which is pretty expensive, but most pizza places are expensive nowadays. I'd absolutely go again, especially when that pickle pizza craving hits. read more

Service was good, it was lunchtime and a bit busy. A fresh, hot pepperoni came out of the oven and looked great so I got a slice. It was thin crust and nicely charred, the sauce was flavorful and a perfect amount of cheese. My only complaint was that it was very greasy.....but I soaked it up with a few napkins and it was perfect. read more

This pizza has gone way down hill in quality.... They totally forgot our order then when they made the pizza it came out sloppy and crust ruined with huge bubbles. Very disappointed with this place. I was passing through town and Apple Maps said it was the closest pizza place, so I stopped in for a slice. It looked so good I got two slices, and by the time I left I got two slices to go as well. Absolutely fantastic cheese slices. The person in front of me had some difficulties with their payment, and the lady behind the counter was extremely kind, patient and respectful, even after the person left. Great people and fantastic pizza, I would highly recommend this place. I seldom bother to leave reviews anymore, but this place gets all of five stars and then some. read more

This review is based on just their cheese pizza. If you have read my pizza reviews I am bit of a pizza snob. If a pizza place has a bad regular cheese pizza, I assume all the food is unfavorable. This place passes the test. I got a couple fresh slices out of the oven. It tasted very good. Just a little over cooked how I like it. The pizza had the perfect crunch when I bit into it. Cheese and sauce was pretty good. The only knock is the grease. Some grease is ok of course but it was just a tad too much. Not enough to ruin it. Go here and get a slice. read more

Yes, I understand it gets busy and you have orders up the ass... however, the LEAST you can do is make sure you check on your customers that have waited and waited for their food that ...& for what I ordered "12 wings crispy" should take about 12-15 mins. I've been waiting for over 30 mins & to top it off, the Man that ordered right after me got his wings 15 mins before I got mine. Then, y'all gone have the nerve to charge 75 cents for a small cup of ranch. Wouldn't take my card because you need to spend a specific limit-FOH, I've been waiting & y'all probably had my wings sitting for a while and then decided "oh ! Forgot about these". Nothing better than burn your mouth, fresh out of the oven XL cheese pizza from Angelo's. And yes it has to be either the large or XL size, the crust errs on the side of too thick if you get a small. They disappointed me tonight though, called several times around 915p to order a pizza and wings with no answer. With Ninos and Mr pizza and many other pizzerias closing at 9 on a Saturday night, always used to be able to rely on Angelo's. If you're daring enough to talk pizza politics with local Auburnians, you may find some polarizing views on favorite pizza spots around town. I on the other hand belong to the independent pizza party and rarely meet a slice I don't like, though with that said, I still have standards, no worries! Angelo's makes my little Italian heart sing, it has that old-school Italian family feel with the grab-and-go convenience of a NYC slice. In fact, it's probably the closest to a NYC slice you'll find around here, requiring only a few steps in the door and a few dollars cash to have a delicious thin slice in your hand (which should then be promptly FOLDED for appropriate consumption) okay okay that's the most political thing I'll ever say on Yelp, I promise. Anyway these guys are fast if you're getting a whole pie, they're one of the very very few places you can grab a late bite (I'm telling you, it's a mini slice of NYC in the heart of auburn), and even if you're grabbing a slice or two, you can typically count on a few different varieties to choose from! The fireman's (bacon and banana peppers), white, and chicken wing pizza are all fabulous! They have a great selection of drinks and serve beer/wine if you're staying to eat! We have been eating at Angelo's pizza for years and this past Saturday night we ordered a 14" pizza with pepperoni and sausage on it the crust was really thin but the worst part of the pizza was the bottom it was burnt really bad we ended up throwing it out after paying $16 for it with a $4 tip which I picked up myself so that said definitely will never eat there again very disappointed. read more

Pizza was disgusting looking and literally raw in the middle. Completely uneatable. When I called to let them know they told me it would be an hour & half to get a new pizza after already waiting an hour for this raw pizza. When I mentioned I wasn't interested he's like well I can give you a $2 coupon... it's like seriously! After tip this pizza that we couldn't eat was $22! All employees are very nice and the pizza is very nice too! There isn't a lot of sound outside of the restaurant so not usually very loud.

To start, the customer service is horrible ordering for delivery over the phone. Ordered an XL pizza and two orders of wings, which came to $77 total and they messed up the order completely. Telling your family from out of state "this is a good place to order pizza." And it being incorrect and not anything like we asked for was pretty disappointing. If you want good food for the price, you're better off ordering from Marks. read more

This place was great. I am staying at the Inn at the finger lakes hotel and saw this place on Yelp. Decided to go there instead of the pizza place next door... I ordered two slices of the fireman's pizza (highly recommend). I handed her my credit card and she said they only take cash, I was disappointed because because the pizza was already in front of me and looked great- she informed me that there was an ATM across the street in the laundry mat... I started walking out the door- she stopped me and said I could sit down and eat then pay later.. I ate my two slices and went to the ATM... Got two more slices to go... Got a really lousy pie yesterday -- one of 8 slices had NO toppings. The rest had mostly nothing. $19 for garbage -- including a piece of "sausage" cartilege that almost made me puke. I lived, for many years, directly across the street from this "Auburn Landmark." On weekends -- constant fights, constant noise. Mgnt. can readily guess who I am. EVERY food service worker I have encountered over the last several weeks, at 6-7 different locations, was both rude and lazy. FU the restaurant/bar business. I've now become completely contemputuous of the "hospitality" trade --- cook at home, spend time w. your family!! WOW!! This is pizza. If you like Mark's doughy crust then this place is not for you. If you like over topped pizza with so many toppings it weighs the crust down then this is not the place for you. If you like delicious, I mean FREAKING out of this world pizza, this is the place for you. The broccoli/garlic was OMG good. The plain cheese was SO good as well.
