This place is AMAZING. It has a super old school feel inside, with a really nice bar. I sat at the bar and the service was quick. I went with the night's special appetizer which was a biscuit with jalapeño jam, sauerkraut, and kielbasa. It was delicious, tangy, and I had enough for breakfast in the morning. New York Restaurant in Catskill is one of my favorite lo al places. Consistently top notch from service to food to ambiance. We haven't been here in a while, so we decided to go. So glad the quality has remained high. We were greeted and seated promptly. The ambiance is intimate and friendly. I started with the calamari, quite unique in its flavor and sauce, but delicious. For entrée I went with the pork schnitzel, it had quite a spicy kick to it. I like spicy so it was fabulous. Dessert was shared between my wife and I... Sweet potato Kale perogie was fantastic with sautéed onions, watermelon feta salad was the best we've had in a long time, stuffed peppers were good but the spinach cheese ravioli were the absolute best. Here's the thing, I've read all the reviews to try and understand why so many people seemed to like this place. I've gone back and forth about this and wrestled with whether to give this four stars (because my husband thinks I should) and three stars, which I settled on because it was really just a three star experience. Was there anything particularly bad about this place? No. But there also wasn't anything particularly memorable or great about this place. It was really just middle of the road average. Ambience wise, it's a cute place with the tables spaced apart for COVID protocol and social distancing. The service was pleasant and nice, though not overly attentive or absent. I had the onion soup, which I love. This was pretty blah. I felt like I was having Campbell's soup (i.e., straight from the can) with a piece of cheese melted on top, It was blah. The hubbie had the winter salad which would also have been bland and blah had he not asked for slices of blood oranges for his sparkling water and added it in. That was the boost it needed. A happy accident. We also ordered the pierogis. We lived in a very heavily Polish neighborhood in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where pierogis are a staple. We have friend who used to make these for us from scratch. These those were not. The ones here were a bit overcooked, or rather over microwaved. We also shared the scallops which were good. The herb risotto was delish. I don't normally like risotto but this was the highlight. Would we go back, no. Would we recommend? No. But we also wouldn't not recommend. We arrived for our first time on a a frazzled Friday night where there was some kind of internet problem (mentioned in another review.) The staff were clearly exhausted by some earlier troubles. They were happy to let us sit at the bar and we watched them rally, making us comfortable while serving impeccable cocktails and food. They do call themselves a Greek restaurant even though most of the menu is classic American bar and grill fare. I took a chance and ordered their Greek main dish, a trio of specialties. I've had a lot of Greek food but some of these items were new to me. Really great. We'll be back. Lack of internet can't stop a great restaurant. read more

This is our go to spot when driving down to White Plains. Easy off the Thruway so if you Don't want Thruway food, consider the NY Restaurant. Burgers are some of the best here and their French Fries or Sweet Potato Fries are always hot and fresh. Great Craft beer selection and the Perogies to start are even better. Very charming restaurant in quaint Catskill town. Food was good, service was good. I love the outdoor seating - just divine. I ordered the Croque Madame, but to my surprise it came covered in gravy which is not what I recall from living in France. It was just alright - maybe a "brunch" version that Americanized. In hindsight I would have rather order Avocado Toast. My suggestion to the management is to remind people about the gravy and/or put it on the side. Service, ambience and atmosphere is everything here. It's definitely one of the top 3 spots in the village for a date night. I am not a big lover of Polish cuisine and if you aren't as well then this place won't change your mind either on the style. However if you are craving this style of food not many places around that are comparable. They do have traditional American dishes on the menu that are good. Cocktails are a highlight and a nice selection of local beers on tap but as far as the food nothing stands out. Nothing bad just nothing great. True personal rating would be 3.9 but rounded it all the way up to 5 stars because they aren't doing anything wrong it's just not my favorite style of food and that's not the fault of the establishment or chef. read more

I hope management sees this review and fixes their online system, or have a conversation with their hostess about how to speak with potential customers. My friends and I arrived at this restaurant at 5:30 pm hoping to walk in for dinner. The hostess informed us they were fully booked and couldn't let us eat without a reservation. We noticed there were empty tables and, out of curiosity, we checked Google and found that reservations were available at 6pm, thinking maybe someone cancelled. We made the reservation for 4 at 6 pm and returned. When we arrived, we showed the hostess our reservation, and she told us that they "didn't have internet" (with an iPad in her hands) and that we still couldn't eat there. I suggested to her that she inform management they should probably fix their online reservation system so people don't make the same mistake and while leaving she called us "stupid for not trusting the human." We were really excited to eat here and are very disappointed by the hostility of the hostess. read more

Nice visit for Brunch on a Saturday. The village was bustling but we were able to get a table for two near the bar so we were pumped. We have had delicious dinners here numerous times but this was our inaugural Brunch visit. We started with a couple of bloody Mary's which were tasty and just the right amount of vodka. I also got an Equilibrium IPA because who doesn't need two cocktails at once? My wife added a cold Irish coffee to her drink order so we were both well hydrated. This is a Polish Restaurant at heart so we had to get the Pierogi appetizer. We chose the truffle pierogis. They are served with sour cream and an onion and bacon chutney. (Not really sure what chutney is but this was delicious). Whatever flavor you get doesn't matter, just make sure not to miss this star. We both went for the eggs Benedict. I got mine with ham and she got Florentine. Go with the ham as it adds a crispness and salt component to the rest of the dish. It was served with a salad with a nice light dressing. There was a polish breakfast on the menu which will be my next meal there. Their kielbasa is a specialty here. We will definitely be back for brunch with some more friends to enjoy with. Parking is available on the street or in a nearby municipal lot. Cool bones to the building and great bar. Owner is amazing and inspires the polish family recipes. The staff have always been friendly, the lighting is appropriate, the service is quick, and the food is delicious and reasonably portioned. This restaurant has good Polish food. I had not eaten Polish food before so got the Tour of Poland which lets you try a lot of different Polish foods. I definitely recommend ordering this. The salad was also good - had caramelized nuts in it. Pork schnitzel was also very tasty. The portions are very large - I could not finish the whole thing but you can take extra food home. They also had pumpkin beer which was good. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and we were able to get a table just walking in without getting a reservation first. We had a nice date night here while we were in town. The concept sounded great and menu looked enticing. We ended up splitting the burrata and prosciutto appetizer and the ribeye--both were really good. Also got the kraut salad. We expected to order something polish but couldn't help ourselves when we saw the steak go by to another table. Enjoyed everything we ordered and would probably try the schnitzel or something if we ever make our way back! The restaurant space was nicely decorated--felt intimate and warm. Came here with a large group the night before my sister's wedding. The servers were absolutely wonderful and attentive. They took care of our group with grace, and were super accommodating to any and all needs. The drinks were awesome; they had plenty of options of cocktails, beers, and mocktails. I had the passionfruit margarita and it was delicious. My sister in law got the Fox Fire and my husband got the same, but added Casamigos. It was so refreshing, and a great summer drink. The food was fantastic and they were so consistent with timing, which we truly appreciated. For appetizers, we got the Crispy Calamari and the Truffle Pierogis. They were so perfect for sharing and tasty. The calamari was cooked perfect and came with a super complimentary dipping sauce. The pierogis were top notch, which makes sense why they're a staple on the menu. Side note, make sure to get the truffle fries with the truffle dipping sauce; they are out of this world! I could have cleaned the plate!! For dinner, we shared a Flank Flatbread, Spring Risotto with Shrimp, and a Kale Caeser Salad. We got the Flank Flatbread on cauliflower crust which was crispy and perfect with the steak. The Kale Salad was fresh and flavorful, with a great caeser dressing. The Spring Risotto was my favorite. It was cooked to perfection and the mix of veggies were seamless in the mix. Shrimp was an awesome addition to it, as well. I only took one star off because it was super humid inside the restaurant; the windows were initially open which would have been great if it wasn't so hot out. I felt as though I was dining in the theatre district in Manhattan. The food, drinks, and service were excellent. My server, Kristin, was awesome and she had such a great personality. I STRONGLY recommend the Pork Schnitzel. My drink was the Blackberry Old Fashioned (Kristin recommended it) and it was absolutely delicious. We should've known it was a bad omen when, upon entering, two women stormed out in rage. We heeded no such warnings, and proceeded to endure the unflattering lighting and low-frequency vibes, as the desperately overwhelmed waitstaff struggled to secure us a table in the half-empty restaurant for the longest twenty minutes either of us have endured. One might assume we could enjoy a dry cider at this dining establishment in upstate New York. That was our second error of judgement. The ambiguously-hued wine that resulted from "a glass of your driest white" was no improvement, and joined the Jolly Rancher juice in the graveyard of beverage dreams. By now we'd gleaned some misses were in sight, so we decided to order an eclectic sampling from the menu's vegetarian offerings. A mere 50 minutes later, we were served water, and the side dishes. The appetizers and entree would eventually join the culinary wasteland of our table. Where to begin? Both greasy and watery, the dishes exemplified a certain dead-to-the-world je n'ais quoi. What they shared was a thick, gravy-like liquid. Never met a burrata I didn't like... except for this one. Reader, do not judge us. Were we any less famished, we would have long ago abandoned ship. I'm not proud of it, but we did what was needed. At no point were we provided share plates, or an opportunity to replenish our glasses of boxed wine -- but at this point, we were desperate for reprieve from the Americana horror film which had become our lives, and sought only the check. Atmosphere: The place is nice, but during Covid-19 times it critically has a nice street side outdoor seating (including heaters as the weather starts getting colder). Staff: Friendly and prompts, nothing more that you could ask for. Food: We went on a Sunday and ordered from the Brunch Menu and the food was absolutely outstanding. We started with the house bloody Marys which were mild with a kick of horseradish. We had the eggs benedict with house smoked salmon (salmon was a little salty, even for smoked salmon) but was great overall as well as the "Tour of Poland" which had an amazing assortment of things most of which were great (especially the kielbasa), though the perogies were a little blah. Wow what an amazing spot. I'm a Brooklyn transplant and am very opinionated about food and service. This restaurant hits both of these elements, three elements actually because the atmosphere is fantastic as well! Walking in, I immediately went "oh wow" it's way cozier than the photos show (the evening mood lighting really sets the tone). We were immediately greeted and sat. The couple in front of us without a reservation were unfortunately turned away so I assume reservations are encouraged. We had a party of four and we all ordered different things with appetizers and every single thing was just finger licking! I was surprised to see so many different options on the menu and I won't be exaggerating when I say every single thing sounded amazing. I was totally torn! It's a great dress up or dress down kind of a place - a celebration or a family out for a good meal. Margaritas are nice and strong too. Had a flourless chocolate cake for desert and my god it was an explosion in the mouth! It's priced at city level but portions are giant so you will have left overs (or leave completely stuffed). Enjoyed an incredible dinner at New York restaurant this weekend. We ordered the spinach perogies, truffle perogies, cauliflower wings, and basa and gnocchi. Yum, yum, yum, and yum! What a lovely town to stop in to have dinner. We just celebrated the new year and wanted to go exploring and found this incredible restaurant. We tried the Brie Burger and have never looked back. As a foodie and Brie cheese lover, I absolutely feel in love with this burger. It's the most delicious burger I've ever tasted with the sautéed mushrooms and prefect creamy and melting Brie cheese. I don't think I've had a burger this good and I work in a French restaurant in New York City! All the food is so delicious- anything you choose will be incredible. The service is spectacular and the interior design is well done. You feel like you're in a fancy farm or barn- super chic, relaxing and homey. All the wine and beers are amazing too! The food is fantastic and the cuisine is Polish despite the weird name (why New York? I was afraid I was being taken to some tourist trap like the hard rock café). The ambience is nice enough although the tables that are near the bar pretty cramped, so make a reservation. I think that's the only way they'll seat you to the left. Some of the servers are unapologetically less than stellar. Not the end of the world but a little annoying. We always hope we won't get the "one" because it bums out our dining experience but the food is worth it so we go back and take our chances on getting the someone incompetent one read more

We ordered the Red Wine Poached Octopus to share with my husband and then I ordered the Ribeye with mushrooms, vegetables and mashed potatoes and he ordered the Scallops with herb risotto. We were trying to decide if ordering two glasses of wine or the whole bottle, and the waitress told us that on Thursdays they have 25% off on bottles of wine, and if we didn't drink it, we could take the bottle home. That just made the decision much easier! The Poached octopus was very good, it was actually grilled, and the combination of the char with the salsa verde an tomatoes was great! And now it was time for the main dishes... Let me tell you that I hadn't read a tiny detail on the menu, the ribeye was 18oz! Imagine my face when I saw a gigantic steak on my plate! I thought I was never going to be able to finish that dish, but it was so DELICIOUS that I did! I come from Argentina, where we are huge meat lovers, and I hadn't had such a perfect steak in my almost 5 years in the US! It was perfectly cooked (medium-well for me please), very tender, juicy, I think I can't describe it with words, you have to try it! We went here for dinner and were met with pleasant staff in a cool, modern space. It seemed like everyone was having a nice time, and the dining area looked very comfortable. We ordered takeout and I ordered the Salmon. This would probably be better at the actual restaurant, but the takeout version just did not taste as satisfying as described. I enjoyed the orange slices mixed with the avocado sauce and salmon, but the Salmon tasted average -- especially for the price. I really want to give this restaurant 5 stars because the very first time we ate here it was absolutely unexpectedly amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, the live music for brunch is great, and so is the location. If you go here you have to have the perogis they are phenomenal, especially the truffle ones! They do limited bottomless mimosas for brunch which is cool. We've had quite a few things from the menu, and everything always taste spectacular. The disappointment comes from the expectations and sizes of the steak and eggs. The first time we ordered the steak and eggs it was a huge steak which was delicious worth every dollar. The following times it was a rip off. The steaks following the first time was a quarter of the size for the same price which isn't cheap.
