    Potato chips

Taking a trip to the area for work, or on the way back from the Berkshires, I try to stop by Munich Haus. I first came here years ago when I wanted needed somewhere interesting for dinner after a work trip. With Boston having a dearth of German restaurants (or New England in general), you might have to find the best German food in the state in this area (I should try Student Prince sometime). I typically get the Bavarian platter or the Jager Schnitzel. The platter is traditional German food's greatest hits. The various sausages are flavorful and have a nice bite. The schnitzels are fried nicely and definitely recommended. The mushroom sauce with the Jager schnitzel is savory and rich. The beef goulash is hearty with a zesty tomato flavor. Really nice touch that homemade potato chips come included with meals. The portions for everything are rather large and prices here are quite good, [[HIGHLIGHT]]especially in comparison with Boston prices. Service is [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]generally attentive and polite. During the Christmas season, the restaurant is decorated appropriately for the time.

Seems the service has fallen off at this spot. The last two times we've came it hasn't been the same it was in the past. Service is slow, and the aim to cram as many people in the place as they can. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I shouldn't be touching people at other tables when sitting at my table, should I?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This last time we were sat in a room where a party was taking place, 40 lid and obnoxious people there for some event.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hardly an enjoyable meal. I think we will go back to Student Prince, a much better experience.

We recently had lunch at Munich Haus while passing through the area. Great service. They served fresh chips and onion dip after we were seated. One of my sons ordered a chicken schnitzel (wiener style) with spaetzle. My other son ordered a giant pretzel, nurnberger sausages, and a bottle of rootbeer. I ordered a chicken schnitzel (with jager sauce on the side), roasted vegetables, and mashed potatoes. All was fantastic.

Super fresh German beer and delicious chips & dip

Having grown up on German fare, it makes me sad that we have none near our home, a couple hours from here. So, whenever we find ourselves out in this area, we try to stop for a delicious Bavarian meal. We were promptly greeted & seated by friendly staff dressed in traditional drindl dresses. The decor here feels like it's right out of the Bavarian Alps - perfect! As soon as seated, we were greeted with a comp bowl of house made chips and dip. Delicious! The Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss Dunkel was remarkedly fresh - as good as we'd expect in Germany. We ordered a Bavarian Platter and the Pretzel Crusted Chicken. The platter was massive! A taste of everything traditional and more than half the platter came home with us. Such a fantastic bargain! The chicken was a fun surprise - tasted just like a Bavarian pretzel with a delicious mustard sauce. We didn't get to check out the beer garden, but it looked interesting . We hope to get to return soon to try it.

Another awesome experience at The Munich Haus. Absolutely love this place. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. The service is brilliant too. They treat you like family here. 3 Thumbs Up & 5 Stars from us :)

incredible German beer list to go with authentic menu!

Munich Haus is a gem! My partner and I stumbled on this last year on our way up the coast and this year decided to stop here just so we could eat at Munich Haus again! I loved the atmosphere, the food is incredible and the cost is way too reasonable for that quality. The entire experience is a pleasure; they're super friendly here. The schnitzel was absolutely perfect and I loved how the salad dressing with Roquefort blue cheese was mixed right at the bar, where I was dining. I highly recommend stopping in Chickopee just for this restaurant!

Always good and the service is excellent! They are so nice and kind. I love the authenticity of the food and employees. Not sure where you can find better German food. They have extensive list of beers on tap. The amount of food you won't be hungry.

Lenox has some really cool spots and Ombra is one of them. Recommended by a local, we stopped here on Valentine's Day after our dinner for a nice glass of wine. The place was crowded but luckily a few people were leaving so we scored some seats at the bar. I ordered a glass of Nebbiolo from Italy which was good. My husband had a beer. The place is so cute and very romantic with dim lights, a great wine selection and their food looked so good. Unfortunately, we were so full that we did not end up ordering anything. Although, the french fries were calling my name. Ombra is a place that I could see us coming to almost every week and not getting tired of it. We met a local who is very nice and told us how Ombra is very popular. I think we will have to come back in the spring/summer to get those french fries :) If you are ever in Lenox definitely make your way to Ombra for a nice glass of wine or try a cocktail. This is the perfect date night spot for sure whether you start or end your evening here, you will be happy! Cheers~

What made the experience even more special was the hospitality. A Valentine's dinner that did not impress!…read more Valentine's has always been a very special holiday for me. My husband and I decided to spend the weekend in the Berkshires, which was lovely and quiet. I made reservations ahead of time for this highly rated wine bar and very close to where we were staying. First off, due to the previous weather/storms they had no street parking. But luckily we parked in a nearby lot. Upon arrival, the restaurant bar area was very nice and romantic. The server brought us to our table but I was a bit disappointed in the ambiance. I mean the bar area was a bit darker and the table that we were being seated at had a lot of light. Now, don't get me wrong, It was Valentine's day which screams romantic and there was no romantic vibe to this restaurant. After mentioning this to our server she did move us and turned down the lights a bit which was much better. Food/Drinks: The menu was not big at all which was nice. I ordered a dirty martini to start which needed more olive juice and my husband ordered a rum cocktail which he enjoyed. For starters, I ordered their Over Roasted Parsnip which was very good and filling. My husband had their Beet Salad which he said was excellent. For entrees, I had their Seared Duck Breast. I really enjoyed the caramel sauce but did not love the duck itself. My husband had the Oven Roasted Chicken Statler which was very dry he could barley eat it. Also, since this is a wine bar I will say the wines were nothing special which was also a bit disappointing. I wish they had something unique and special to offer especially being on a Valentine's Day. I feel this place may be more of a summer destination. Service: Service was excellent I will say. Our server was always asking how things were, checking on us and if we needed anything and asking about any additional drinks. etc. Also, the Manager came over to ask how everything was but he spefically looked at me. I think my husband would've mentioned his meal being dry if he looked at him as well but my husband could've spoken up too. We did say something to our server after she asked about the chicken dish, which they ended up taken off the bill which was very nice. Overall: I didn't love Alta Wine Bar my first time here, but I would come back in the spring or summer months when the weather is warm to try it again. Cheers~

While our table was being set up outside, we enjoyed a drink at the bar--the 15-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The outdoor setting was beautiful, with greenery creating a relaxed summer vibe and live music playing under a small tent, adding to the atmosphere. Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to the area
