Spicy shrimp with rice and an egg roll.
Erin N.

I personally am I huge fan, but I also don't really ate Chinese anywhere else, so I can't comment as to have to compares to other places. I had the spicy shrimp I believe, it was good. But my main reason for going is the egg rolls! I only had one with my meal, but I brought 4 home. I love their egg rolls so much, I love that it is bean sprouts instead of cabbage like so many egg rolls are that I see. My parents have been going here for 30 years or so, and when I was a kid my meal was always egg rolls and fried rice. Will return.

Stopped by because everywhere had super long lines when we visited. We actually haven't had "American Chinese" food in a long time and we were quite excited for it. I'm actually never had 'fake Chinese food' that I didn't like, so I was quite disappointed. Egg roll was soggy and fried rice was bland and also a little off tasting. Our chow mein was also very soggy. Portions were huge though, both our plates was around $17 each. Also got charged for tea and there's an additional service change of 15% fyi. Food also came super slow. Anyways I will never want to come back, who screws up fried rice?

Sour and spicy soup

The food was outstanding and the customer service was excellent! Our order came quickly and there was barely any wait. Everything was clean and tidy! Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely come back!

noodles and fried rice

So i've read some reviews saying workers are mean and rude but honestly they were patient and kind. the food was pretty good, i recommend noodles. place looks clean also

Vegan meats page of menu (September 2018).

You can't get vegan mockmeats anywhere else in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to my knowledge, so New York Restaurant offers something unique. We got the braised beancurd with vegetables (C$12) but it was way too oily. I mean, oil was squirting out of the spongy tofu when you tried to fork into it. The sauce also lacked flavor. The gluten with broccoli (C$12) wasn't much better, with a similarly bland sauce. The gluten here isn't seasoned at all and has a rubbery texture. It's not like the gluten you see at Chinese restaurants in the US, which tends to be more flavorful and better textured. The vegan beef with green pepper in blackbean sauce (C$13) was the best thing we had, with a decent sauce and nice fake beef. I used the sauce from this dish to improve the bland gluten and broccoli dish. The portion sizes are decent and I found the service to be perfectly warm and inviting, unlike other reviews have mentioned. All told, if you're looking for decent vegan Chinese food, New York Restaurant is your best bet in central Niagara Falls.

Szechuan beef

We are here twice while visiting Niagara. Friendly service and great food. Wife is Chinese and she loved it.

Chicken corn soup without egg(egg allergy), pork chop suey with mixed veg and orange chicken.

Delicious food, kind service…read more Food: I came here with my family of 5 and got to try the bun and pho dac biet. The pho broth was very rich, and the noodles were just right. The tendon came on the side for an $8 charge, and was a bit more tough than normal, but I loved my pho. The bun that I tried was great, as were the rolls. Service: kind service. The app on the QR code menu was a little confusing of whether I had to add certain ingredients or not, but the food was served quickly. Ambiance: fine. I would recommend pho xyclo and go there again.

I couldn't even pull it easily with chopsticks. I thought I would cry seeing all the happy looking customers around. Most of them ordered soups. My partner's pho looked quite good, but, as he put it, "the broth was below average, the rest of the ingredients were average." Regarding my Hủ Tiếu Xào Quảng Đông/Guangdong-style Stir-fried Rice Noodles (number 606 on the menu), I ate all the broccoli. The shrimp were small and lime juice helped. I totally don't appreciate flower-shaped carrots (didn't eat them, plus celery as well), and the worst, the blob of noodles had no taste whatsoever. For me, it was simply a disappointing experience, but the menu is extensive, and it certainly does not lack a variety of delicious dishes.

The place looks like a home that was converted into a restaurant with parking in the back but once you enter, you feel like you are going into one of your Auntie's places for an actual home cooked meal. And they did not disappoint! Each dish was made to order and took a short time but you could tell it was prepared by a chef with a lot of experience and care--just looking at how the veggies were chopped/diced you can see they put their energy into each dish. The flavors were really superb and not at all overpowering and one major bonus--nothing was over salted or over oily as you might think typical Chinese food can get. Our party of 4 loved every bite and finished all our dishes, no leftovers. As you can see in the photos, they make an excellent meal. Prices are also very affordable and competitive with anything near the touristy areas. So if you want a solid, great meal prepared by a true mom & pop kitchen that feels like a home cooked meal, you really gotta try them out. I asked them how business was in summer vs winter and they said it's tough when it's winter (less tourists) but they make it work. It's also nice and quiet/intimate so you can have an actual conversation with your group rather than try to talk over some loud music at a chain restaurant! ----TL;DR---- Pros: excellent Chinese cuisine at very affordable prices and great portions. Not too salty or oily. And super nice, friendly owners who provide great service and great food. Cons: not easy to walk to from the main strip but if you have a car it's an easy drive. Skip the touristy places and come here! Bottom Line: it was the best meal we had in Niagara Falls and everyone was full and satisfied. I'd definitely go back again.

We were sat in the 'C' dining area area. There were room upon room so there's plenty of seating. Each room with a slightly different theme. Ours had a wall of beautiful fish tanks. The dining area, food stations and bathrooms were all very clean, which is so important at a buffet. They even have gloves at the end of each station in case you didn't want to touch the serving utensils with your bare hands. The variety of food goes from everything you can imagine at a Chinese buffet like sushi and fried rice to American options like burgers and fries, to surprises in-between like New England clam chowder and prime rib. Tons of dessert- hard ice cream, cakes, pies, fruit, jello, even Crème brûlée and waffles. One of my favorite surprises was the variety of mocktails. Most places offer me pop as a mocktail or a Shirley Temple at best. Decent pricing. Father's Day special dinner menu was $50/pp (Canadian) about $36/pp (American) which is pretty great for all you get and that's WITH their high tax. I believe the refular pricing is about $10/pp less. A must try only 30 minutes from Western NY.

Eating from LA, Vegas, MN, WI, MI, IL, OH, Manhattan, FI, KS, MS, GA, canada, etc. I make reviews after tasting their pho. I know what pho is good and what is fake! Being Hmong, I try not to be bias, "only Vietnamese people can cook pho! The restaurant started from a Vietnamese owner." Pho Bowl Vietnamese Restaurant I have not had pho in this area of Canada, so I decided to try Pho Bowl. The reviews said this was a good spot. Really? Are you people from mars? How can you say this pho broth is good? It's not even bone broth like it should be. Let me start, we walked in and they gave us an order slip. What? Do I fill it out? Don't expect a big tip. I filled it out. Waited for service. Confused. We eventually got our food. Stop! Their was a long white hair in our food. Nasty. Really. How can you miss it. Nasty. Someone is loosing hair? Old hair. Sorry. You should know better. They did not even remove the item or give us credit. Wow. Your tip is really going to look bad. The pho? I tasted the broth and it was not good at all. For starters, they gave me pork meat. Which is a no no. I know the difference. I ordered the Pho special, I know what I'm expecting. Pho Dac Biet taste better than this. This was clearly a fake pho special. Bad broth. Wrong meat. Sorry. This was a disaster. I had so much high hopes. How can people say their pho was the best in Canada? Wtf? Please. Dumpster fire. $5 tip from $70 bill. That's the kind of service I got. Next to nothing. I paid myself because I took my own order. The only positive is the amount of pho in their extra large. Otherwise this place has gone down. They maybe very good at one time but for sure they are lost. Sell. Update and purge workers. The pho presentation is on par but the broth needs fixing. Don't go cheap on the broth! The place is clean. They need help.

The best part... the washrooms were clean! There were 3-4 stalls and the one I used, wasn't moonlighting as a bathroom... win!! Service was good, friendly and kind... they didn't check in on us but they did have a couple of large tables so maybe that's why they were busier. We're adding this to the list and we'd recommend dropping in! It's a bit off the beaten path but plenty of parking. Sorry no photos, too busy trying to keep the munchkins fed and happy.

The bò kho served with bread would taste much better if the broth were thicker. Adding a little cornstarch to create a richer, more stew-like consistency would make it perfect for dipping bread. Another concern is that the bowls, spoons, and cups all had a very strong dish soap smell. It seems like the dish soap wasn't rinsed off completely before putting the dishes into the dishwasher, and the detergent smell stayed on them. This can be harmful to customers' health and also makes the food less enjoyable. The restaurant itself is clean, and the service is very good. My only issue is the strong dish-soap smell on the utensils and dishes -- it really takes away my appetite.
