This place loves Sriracha. I think this is their only way of adding spice to food because when I asked for extra spice for my mapo tofu, they probably downed half a bottle of sriracha in it. I could taste nothing but that. The tofu was overcooked so it was falling apart so that didn't help either. The hot and sour soup was mostly just sour and was not appealing. The ambiance is good so that's a saving grace. But I don't think I'll ever venture out here when there are so many other delectable vegetarian options around Niagara Falls. read more

Disclaimer: This review is based on my mom's feedback on the UberEats delivery of Mother's Day dinner we sent over. Since we could not get together due to the ongoing pandemic, I ordered a Mother's day dinner from Magnolia. My mom was craving certain dishes and Magnolia happened to be the only restaurant in Niagara Falls with those dishes on their menu. Our order was hot and sour soup (was told it was ridiculously spicy which is saying a lot coming from Koreans), shrimp with lobster sauce (both my parents said they were not good), chili chicken (apparently was the best dish of the night) and buddha's delight (not well executed with mushy broccoli and under-rehydrated mushrooms that seemed barely cooked). I was disappointed to hear that the meal was less than satisfactory. I guess I won't be ordering from Magnolia for my parents again. read more

We were going to Niagara Falls for a night and friends told us we had to try this place. As they've never steered us wrong in the past, we decided to take their advice. It's located on Lundy's Lane, heading out of town, just past the QEW. It's worth the drive. The restaurant is quite large with ample parking. When we arrived, it was fairly quiet and we were seated immediately. Menu is fairly big, with pictures of some of the dishes to help you along. We ordered drinks and when our waiter returned with them, we ordered our food. Withing 5 minutes, our first dish was out. Portion size was huge. Within the next 5 minutes, the balance of the order was out (seriously...10 minutes for all our food to arrive) We ordered (food): Orange Chicken - flavourful, tender pieces of chicken in a subtle orange sauce. We both loved it. Chilli Chicken - we were excited as we were craving Hakka...which this was not. But on its own merit, it had a great flavour and had a bit of heat (plus tons of garlic). Although not as spicy as we woukd have preferred, it was excellent none the less. Cantonese Chow Fun (Beef) - large flat rice noodles with beef, stir fried in a lightly flavored teriyaki sauce. I took a walk on the wild side and instead of my usual wonton soup ordered Hot and Sour soup...wow! Being a fan of Chinese food, I can say I def. had better. Came here during our stay at Niagara Falls, and the place itself looked really nice. It's not like your regular Chinese restaurant, it looked clean + more modern. The food was okay, my favourite was the fried rice to be honest. It had a lot of meat in it, and flavour to it. I felt like the soup + chicken we got could have had more flavour. The service was alright, it could have been better. Really craving some good Chinese food we decided to check this place out. Came in around 9pm the place was pretty empty except for a large group dining in the back. Most people were ordering take out or calling for delivery. We were promptly greeted upon entering and were allowed to pick a table to sit at. The tables are all very formal looking, large glossy mahogany tables topped with glass with formal matching dining chairs. It seems to be a family run business. Our bubbly waitress kindly handed us a menu and introduced herself to us. To drink we both ordered the Chinese Tea which came out in a cute white china pot piping hot. Since everything is served family style we decided to order a few items to try Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls - Juicy plump ball of chicken coated in a crispy golden batter served in a warm sweet & sour sauce Magnolia Fried Rice - Wok-fired rice blended with egg, soy and sliced onions. Choice of Chicken, beef, pork or vegetable We went with the pork which came with large chunks of juicy bbq pork. The rice was really good with a smokey flavor and large portion. Orange Chicken - Tossed with a mild chili sauce and fresh orange peel for a spicy, citrus combination I love orange chicken and Magnolia got it spot on! Ample chunks of tender chicken in a crispy coating in a delicious orange glaze sprinkled with chili flakes and garnished with fresh orange slices. Sooo yummy! Overall Food came out hot, fast, and fresh. Dishes were delicious, huge portions, service was perfect, even the owner came over to chat with us and asked how are meals were. A little bit off the beaten path of the Niagara hotspots however if your craving some good Chinese food at an affordable price in an upscale setting this place definitely fits the bill. We have been coming here for a while now and I have to say Magnolia is one of the best Chinese food places I've ever been. The Restaurant Unlike a lot of Chinese places that can be tacky and overdone Magnolia has the perfect mix of modern and Chinese designs that make the place look great. They tables are a good size(which helps when you order a bunch of dishes) so you don't feel cramped which is nice. They also do take out which is nice if you just want to go home and binge. The Food There are tons of great dishes you can get here. My we love the Thai Chicken and Orange Beef the best. The Thai chicken has a great mix of sweet and spicy and is just all around delicious. We also love their spring rolls, the best I've ever had. Other favorites are the Kung Pow Chicken, Garlic Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, Buddhas Delight and the Chow Mein. The food is always super fresh and presented beautifully. Another thing that Magnolia has going for them is their portion sizes. All of the dishes are a large portions. With 2 people we normally order rice/noodles and 2 dishes and that will do dinner and then lunch the next day. The Service Everyone at Magnolia is really nice and upbeat. The chef is a funny pretty funny guy as well. Every time we have been there they are always very quick with taking care of us and they are always on the ball getting drinks and getting our food out to us. The kitchen is really fast as well so you aren't waiting a long time fore your food. I have been a Magnolia restaurant fan for a while. I consistently order from there. I ordered for m Magnolia on Mother's Day. I realized it would be busy and gave on order time that would leave sufficient time for the order. We arrived 15 minutes before the order time and were called immediately. Our residence is 5 minutes away. The food was cold, tasteless and the chicken balls tasted as if they had been left out making them tasting stale. The egg rolls were over cooked. I expected much more. I spoke with a friend who also orders from the from the same location. So I just found out recently Canadian drinks contain way less alcohol than American drinks. So don't drink if you like alcohol or want a stiff drink. It will just make you mad. I've always had a soft spot for Magnolia. They've got the best fried rice, fresh egg rolls and shrimp or pork wonton soup that's to die for. Chow mein is great and they even have chicken balls :) Great selection of food. I love the kungpow shrimp! Nice big juicy tiger shrimps amidst a mountain of veggies and some cashews. Pineapple fried rice is also a favourite. They also make a crazy seafood veggie dish that will make you smile. Good tea and good atmosphere too. They always have some chill music playing and Ting the owner is always willing to chat and works her butt off along with her husband who does the cooking. They're a great team. I miss them not being in St. Catharines, which is where they started and sold that location which has now closed, so I have to make the drive to see them in the Falls now, but it's so worth it. read more

We waited in line for over 2 hours after our pick up time that evening in the restaurant as well as so many people who were doing the same. Yes, it's your typical run of the mill Americanized Chinese food but it still has large portion sizes, non-greasy food and the kind of Chinese that you can always depend on to be great Plus, its a bonus that there's no MSG added and the prices are super reasonable. Our Hotel at the Falls recommended Magnolia and they did not disappoint! We ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari, Egg Drop soup, Wonton soup, Pineapple Fried Rice, Lemon Chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Sizzling Beef and Vegetables. The absolute BEST calamari I've ever had. The egg drop soup tasted like it was made freshly for me (not burnt from sitting in a pot all day). Beware, though, it does have mushrooms in it. I didn't mind, but my sister did. Pineapple fries rice was not only pretty to look at (see picture), but also freshly prepared. The Lemon Chicken was one of the best I've had, too. Made with a panko breading, it's served with a clearish lemon lime honey-like sauce (see picture). Everything is a la cart, so our table also shared a chicken fried rice. Possibly the worst Chinese restaurant experience I've ever had. We came as a group and the server's tone was incredibly rude and she raised her voice when we had a few questions, and later into the meal she complained that she actually had to serve us, guess she didn't know we could understand Cantonese. When asking for chopsticks, the server just grabbed a handful and threw them on the table. The food was extremely bland. We ordered about 10 dishes and none of them had any real flavour. The place was cute looking though was pretty empty however it was midweek so that may be why. Food was really good especially the orange chicken which was the best I've ever had. Were from US and here Chinese food everywhere is served with duck sauce (sweet & sour sauce) so it was a little surprising when we asked and they had no idea what we meant.
