I paid way more than I wanted to and gave a great tip. UGH!!! I love the color and trim, but I when she colored my hair and put me under the dryer for 1/2 hour it completely fried my hair. When she went to comb my hair out after she washed, she kept yanking on my hair and she used 2 different combs and 3 different brushes. My head was jerking back and she thought nothing of it. she combed/brushed from the top down and it should be from bottom to top. My hair is in such bad shape now. Julie did this to me. She kept having to ask the boss for advice and she has been there for 7 years. I will never return. Extremely disappointed. read more

Stay away from this salon...They ruined my hair. I came in for highlights and a long layered trim cut. When I walked into the salon the customers complimented me on how beautiful my long hair was. I made the mistake looking down on my phone on Instagram while she was cutting my hair and then I noticed how the Salon got real quiet and so I looked up and saw that the stylist was cutting my hair with thinning scissors. I asked her what are you doing? She said that my hair is too thick. I never told her to thin it out. All I wanted was a v cut. As soon as I realized what she was doing I told her to stop! I was ready to cry and you can only imagine the mad look on my face as I looked down at the floor and saw how much hair she cut off. I also don't appreciate how she had the audacity to be so unapologetic. She even implied that I should look at the bright side because I won't need a haircut for a while and I will be saving money. She even had the nerve to use my religion to manipulate me. I was wearing a cross and she said, "You're Christian Right?"and because faith is important I chose not to make a scene. That's why I paid her $280.00 for my hair which looked all jacked up and the highlights don't even stand out. Because of this horrible experience I'm considering reporting her to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. I thought long and hard before posting this review. I know we have to support small businesses during these times. But at the end of the day, they have an obligation to do right by their customers. She deserves this, I did not. I am a Nurse and I have been loyal to Lisa for close to 3 years. And with that, I have brought with me, three of my Nurse friends who have been going to her regularly. I have long, thick, gorgeous hair that colorists love to take pictures of, to post on their social media as it takes on the style and color easily. My hair is a strong asset of mine, and I do take care of them and that is why I go to Lisa every 2-3 months along with the 3 other girls that come with me to get theirs done too. We tip well. We overlooked the fact that the place is not the most cleanest. Call it a hole in the wall if you will, the price was reasonable. We were satisfied with her work in the beginning until the last few times we noticed that the work was getting sloppy. My Brazilian blowout will wash out in a month's time when it used to last for 3 months My other friend started to get unhappy with her results, so she dropped out and went back to her old stylist. I kept going to her for convenience. I dyed my hair a reddish tone which I did not like at all. I came back to her 2 weeks later and asked to change my color to a lighter brown. She suggested highlights. This I did not know, but when you go from red to bleached highlights it is very unsafe, but she did not disclose this. She processed my hair and placed me under the dryer hood for a good hour there (maybe longer) without checking in on my hair. She couldn't check if she wanted to, because she took another customer, and another, while my hair was roasting away under the hood. It was late when we finished and I knew something was not right when she was not saying much about my hair. The next morning I showered, and immediately, clumps of my hair started falling out. When I got out of the shower to comb my hair, more and more hair was falling out and my hair felt "gummy" like the texture of sticky glue. My hair was breaking in half! Never in my entire life has this ever happened to me! I texted her in a panic, and she told me to just apply more conditioner and "have a good day!" I was livid! This thoughtless person that I have been loyal to for almost 3 years is acting like it's no big deal. I went back to my old stylist and he tried to fix my hair as best as he could. He advised me not to color my hair for the next 6 months. He did not charge me at all as he felt so sorry for me. Choice words were spoken, trust me. I am still very upset as I am stuck with this funny-looking hair for the Holidays. The pictures below will tell you. These are not bangs, I haven't had bangs in 10 years. This hair used to be shoulder length and now it's about 1.5 inches from my scalp. The back of my hair where she applied the highlights looks just as bad. My hair basically melted and fell off. What's left is sticking out and it's beyond damaged, ragged, and hacked. On a bad day, I look like a bug with antennas. I did not deserve this, I paid well and this is what I got in return. I went here not knowing what to expect--lost, desperate, in need of a fresh set of nails! I stumbled into this cozy house, wondering who, when, where, what.. all these questions, unanswered. I then met the eyes of a woman with the type of eyes that are just filled with kindness, a smile overflowing with comfort and empathy, and a poise just too elegant to bear! I asked for a simple, yet cute, set of nails. She looked at it once, glanced back at me, and gave me a reassuring nod. "Yes, very nice. I can do." I almost cried tears of relief! I sat down and instantly she went to work. I was told that the price of the nails would be not $100, not $80, but $50! I was shocked and overwhelmed with joy. She filed my nails and immediately lulled me to sleep. It was so relaxing, I couldn't help but close my eyes and relax! I felt my shoulders drop their tension, my muscles let loose, and a smile form on my face. After just a short hour, I looked down at my nails and gasped at the sight of such beauty. *gasping sound effect* I was so happy and ecstatic that I couldn't speak! I opened my mouth and nothing but squeals came out. She then offered me an eyebrow wax; her comment about my bushy eyebrows was short and blunt, but very much appreciated. Who knew people could tell I didn't pluck them often? Anyway, I was running short on time so I was hesitant, but she lured me in with the words, "5 minutes" and "10 dollars"... I then understood that I was in heaven. I sat back down and let her do her thang. A few minutes later, I looked fabulous! Joyous and feeling beautiful, I thanked her, hugged her, and paid her her much deserved tip. I go to stylist while my kids to barbers ... until my little guy decided he want to grow out his blond hair. He has refused to sit in the barbers chair last 3+ months since he knew all the barber would do is to chop off everything. So here we are, his first time getting a stylist cut -well I don't count my mum and aunts who are all professional hairstylists since we don't pay them. I was still questioning myself how did I allow this to happen - I mean the barber would cost way less... this is not right - I should be in the chair instead of him... Well, let me tell you Tan treated his little customer with as much time and styling attention as he would with his adult customers. No effort was spared as he revisited multiple times the different parts of my boy's head with his scissor and thinning shears until he achieved the desired length and style. He was fussing down to the millimeters and yet working fast and swift at the same time. In short, Tan is experienced. I wasn't quite sure of the end product as the fringe was styled with wax - the way my kiddo likes it. After the wax was washed out, and for the next 48 hours, I simply cannot stop admiring the cut! No, it's not the same as a barber's standard 'clean' look. Tan transformed the overgrown messy hair - I call it a 'little mop head' since his long strands clumped together then stuck out every direction like a wet mop when he comes out of his showers and swim trainings- into a super stylish boy's cut. It's relaxed at the top, with gentle layers to frame his little face, and I like it the back edges are not a stiff straight line like the way barbers cut it. He look cute in either but this is definitely rad. Here's the bad news: I decided it is worth every penny. I guess no more barber cuts for my boy for a while... read more

Julie did my ombre hair dye. It only took a few hours to get it to the color. They were able to do a pedicure while I was waiting for my bleaching to finish. I was telling them how I was waiting for a cystic pimple to be ready and Lisa said she would be able to get rid of it so I got a facial massage from Julie and then Lisa took care of the extraction. I visited the New York Styles Salon today and it was a wonderful experience! It is July 28, 2020 and Covid19 restrictions are in effect. I was so happy to find the Salon open and Lisa able to even fit me in the same day I called! I was the only one in the salon during most of my appointment. Lisa did a fabulous job matching the picture I brought in and even improved on the style! I recommend the Salon 100% and will come again Covid or no Covid! I've gone in multiple times as a walk-in and they've been great for a simple haircut. Since I have had good experiences I decided to trust them with taking out the semi permanent dye I had put in my hair. I am a natural blonde and needed to go back to my natural color. For a long story short, I was in there for four hours and walked out with a color that they said was "natural blonde" and was actually purple. Thank god they used crappy dye, and the color came out almost completely about a week later. Moral of the story: don't get your hair dyed here. read more

I guess if you're a woman and you want a cut, style or nails done you'd be fine, but for a man getting a haircut don't bother. The brother and sister are nice and they hire new women to guide them and get them experience, which is admirable, but you have to listen to the customer. You explain what you want in a haircut to the brother (Tan?) and then he doesn't listen and simply does what he wants. Which is generally an attempt to give you some sort of modified fade or K-Pop cut and it never works out right. He seems to be more interested in surfing the Net than serving the customer. Plus, his work area is very sloppy with a power strip and cords all over. Women ... yes. Men ... pass and go to a real barber. read more

i understood that the salon is trying their best to follow California guidelines for COVID; however, we were overcharged for waiting over an hour after being taken in. Gel nail polish is streaky, haircut is completely different than asked for both people who attended, and hair color was left in for an hour and a half so it burned the scalp and dried out the hair. After paying, the owner who was outside while we paid yelled at both me and my mom in front of other customers and accused us of not paying. Disgusting behavior. I've been here several times for different services but mostly for the eyelash extension. I initially came here using a groupon for the eyelash service with Hannah. It was defintiely a trial and error to find a lash with the right length and thickness for my liking and I think we finally figured it out. My last appointment was not the best experience. I made an appointment for my lash refill, thinking it would be with Hannah since she always does my lashes. I show up for my appointment and the lady in the front tells me Hannah is sick so this other lady will do my lashes instead. I was not happy that she didn't notify me on the phone and told me when I got there in person. I went with the new lady (don't know her name) trying to give her the benefit of the doubt that she will do a decent job. It was a horrible experience from the beginning. I don't know what she was doing but at one point, she clamped my eyelashes down somehow and it was PAINFUL. Then she tells me that she couldn't do the fill on my current lashes because there were too much glue? so she says she has to take them off. I'm thinking um okay? She doesn't tell me it will now be a full set but I don't think I should be figuring that out and also not my problem if you can't do a proper fill on the lashes that another person at your salon previously did. Throughout the session, my eyes were hurting but I just wanted her to finish so I didn't say it until I HAD to mention a few times. She also took a long time and tried to rush me out for her next appointment. My eyes BURNED for a while and she had CHUNKS OF GLUE all over my eyelashes at the roots. It looked dirty and I was not happy. I had to leave for my job so I wanted to get out of there and the front lady tries to charge me for the full set. I told her I came for a fill, the lady never said she's charging me for a full set. The front lady looked like she didn't know what to do, at the end told me I can pay whatever I think is fair. I just paid more than I would for the fill and left. I'm pretty disappointed in the service that day. I will not be returning. I don't want to take away from their other services for hair cut, nails and lashes with Hannah so I'm giving a 3 star. I don't know what that lady's name is but go to Hannah for lashes. It was my first time here. Not impressed. The towels were stained. I called ahead of time and made an appointment then called 15 mins before arriving to let them know I would be on time. I showed up and they didn't know who I was and didn't have anyone ready to help me. My manicure started to peel of the next day. The lady sniffed my big toe nail while she was painting AND DIDNT FIX IT. She just left it messed up. When I went to show my friend (who was there with me) she showed me that the lady who did her nails did the same thing! Not to mention that they moved my friends purse off of a stool and onto the floor where it ended up getting SOAKED with water. My friends massage chair didn't work. Her gels started falling off the next day. Our nails were filed to all sorts of lopsided shapes. Disaster. Idk. Good luck if you go here. read more

DON'T GET LASH EXTENSION THERE, IF YOU DON'T WANT GET BLIND!! The lady names Lily, who obviously has absolutely ZERO experience, did my lash extension. She put too much glue (some inside my eyelid), keeps rubbing my eyelid, and her finger literally touches my eyeball!! I said at least ten times that it hurts, and she just didn't listen and stop. The final work is a mess, and I couldn't open my right eye for literally 3 hours after that. read more

I made an appointment for a haircut and color because I saw the price list from outside and it seemed like a good deal. Prices are cheap and the ladies working there are nice and friendly (why I gave 2 stars) and offered me to get my nails done while my hairdresser was applying my color. Here is my review for color, cut and manicure. Color : I wanted the same color I always get to cover some gray hair in my roots. My stylist did a good job at applying the color and my skin is not stained (around ears, forehead). However, once at home I realized that there were still a few gray hair visible. The stylist did not see it. She should have checked my hair to make sure all the gray was gone. Now I'm thinking that I have to either go back to get it done again or go somewhere else. Haircut : I showed my stylist a picture of the style I wanted (which was basically trimming my bangs and a trim on my actual layered haircut). She asked which side I separate my hair and then started cutting without even separating my hair evenly. Once she was done with the cut I realized that it was uneven and mentioned it to her. She trimmed one side again and offered me a blowout. I decided to get it so I can make sure my hair was even when dried, but it cost an additional $17. Once dry my hair was still uneven so I asked her to retouch it, which she did. At home, I realized my hair is still longer and fuller on one side. Not very happy about that. Manicure : Even though the lady doing my nails was very nice, it is the worst manicure I have ever gotten. I am not rough on my nails and just from normal wear, most of my nails were chipped after 23 hours only. She didn't even apply a base coat on my nails. Now it's almost 36 hours after the manicure and 7 nails out of 10 are chipped. I have to remove everything. There goes 10 bucks I'll never see again. Overall, the ladies working there are nice (although they were chatting together a lot in their language and not really talking to me or trying to make a conversation) and the prices are cheap, but the results are less than stellar. I would rather pay a bit more and get the results I should get. read more

Got my hair and nails done. Hair lady was very kind. Didnt get the color i asked for. She also left alot of hair dye on my scalp and ears. She did stay after hours so that was nice. i got a full set of nails. Lady burned me when she filed my nails with the machine. She also left the material under my nails. Full set is $ 18 which is not a bad price but she put a second color in my nails and didnt mention it would be $7 additional. So i felt deceived. They take credit cards but theres a fee. $1 below 50 and $2 if its more than 50. Overall you get what you pay for. Nice people and late hours but not the best quality. read more
