the breeder of a puppy I purchased uses this establishment. When the puppy was delivered to me, I was given a copy of her vet exam as a condition of completing the sale. The puppy passed the exam by this vet, stating everything appeared normal. The puppy was delivered to me on 12/11/21. I took her to my vet today for a wellness check, which is required by the breeder/purchaser contract. Imagine the heartache I felt when MY vet told me this pup had a grade 2/5 heart murmur, a bladder infection and crystals in her urine. The exam from Newberg Vet was dated 8 days before my puppy arrived. A grade 2 murmur isn't even a CLOSE call. That should have been caught at the vet visit. And, a grade 2 heart murmur doesn't develop in 8 days time. My only conclusion is that the vet who performed this exam is inept and shouldn't be practicing. I had to return the puppy to the breeder. NEVER in my nearly 60 years on this planet, have I ever purchased a puppy that didn't pass it's wellness exam. I had become so attached to this little puppy in the two days I had her and my heart is broken. So in essence, I spent a lot of money, based on the clear exam provided by this clinic, on a puppy I loved. I cared for her and became attached to her, only to learn that she was ill, at 8 weeks, mind you. The breeder lost more than I did. He lost a day's wages because he had to deal with this issue. He lost the money on the dog. Do NOT bring your dog here for ANY reason. If they can miss a grade 2 murmur, God only knows what else they would miss. If your breeder provides you with a vet exam from Newberg Vet Clinic, DO NOT trust it. Do yourself a favor and have your breeder meet you at YOUR vet and once the puppy gets the all clear from your own vet, only THEN take possession of the pup. Trust me. I was very happy with Newberg veterinarian. Tracy was one of our workers, she told us about how good Newberg veterinarian clinic was. I went to brush my dogs teeth and he refused, I knew something was very wrong, he gets impatient waiting for me to brush his teeth, then he refused to let me brush his teeth. I took him to a vet in town. They did blood work and checked his urine for stones. Nothing. That's when I decided to take him to newberg our regular veterinarian was not able to see him. The Lady veterinarian checked our dog, she could not find anything. She asked if she could X Ray him. Yes,he was full of bladder stones, one had dropped down, causing almost a total blockage. This facility is terrible. I wouldn't even give them the credit of being an animal hospital, because I do not believe that they care about your pet. The time on hold, the waiting room process, and the fact that the vets seem disinterested during exams should have been enough of a warning. I was concerned about my dog, so I had them do an exam while he was being boarded. They said he was "fine" despite my persistent concerns about his change in appetite and drinking habits. He passed away two weeks after the exam. I called the emergency line. Never received a call back. This place is terrible and should not be trusted with the care of any animal. It appears Mark Weber DVM grossly overdosed our beloved dog on Hydromorphone, amounts were noted in surgery report for a simple Neuter surgery, we made it clear to the staff before surgery which is also noted in the records not use anything but propofol and isoflurane which is safe, Hydromorphone is 5 to 7 times stronger then morphine, our dog was given the 10ml/mg solution which is the strongest concentration. Most Vets don't use it because of the risk involved. He was given two large doses, 8 mls as a pre-med then another large amount during a very short 15 min surgery, also on report a Large Volume of Propofol at 34 mls, Our dog had all the symptoms of reaction/overdose to hydromorphone, several calls were made after we picked him up and one on the drive home, we were told the heavy panting/drool is Normal it's a slight reaction to the hydromorphone and he will be fine when it runs through his system, he died 2 & 1/2 hrs after we got him home. Complaint was filed, Dr. Mark Weber has already had 2 other disciplinary actions taken against him by the Oregon State Veterinary Examining Board. This Vet does not know what he is doing when it comes to these potent drugs. My dog could have been saved if he would have been given Narcan the opioid reversal drug, Dr. Mark Weber and his staff prevented that from happening assuring us our dog was going to be fine. This Vet is a Joke. 100% DO NOT GO HERE. PLEASE READ! When doing a AI the first day they said the sample was great and used that day for the female. The Second time they Wanted to do it the next day. Most professional breeding practices have a day in between. So I get a call about the second time and Dr.Weber thinks that they mixed up our first batch with another dog. So potentially the female has a different sample from another dog. So this female French Bulldog could have been breed with another dog that day and there were 3 different AI happening and will not know until a pregnancy is confirmed and if so then has the litter. Not only is this affecting this litter but another litter as well. The parking lot was full all the time when I was there. They do not care about the animals more about the money. They have to many appointments going on that they are mixing up AI with other dogs and that just blows my mind. Be professional and take the time to care about what you do. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. It was one of the closest places that do AI near Portland. If you are going to do breeding I recommend finding a better places that is farther away if you have too. Its safer for your pet and if they are mixing up AI they are gonna mix up medications and surgeries as well. If you really care about the safety don't go here. read more

unfortunately i cannot give 0 stars...Very unhappy with this clinic. We have been going to them for years and the more business they get the less they care about animals. They spend next to no time in the room and do not take the time to make a proper diagnosis. We brought our 9 year old German Shepherd into the clinic about 2 weeks ago due to leg/paw weakness. Overall he is super healthy other then this random paw issue. They took an x ray and said it was just a nerve issue and prednisone would help fix it. Apparently the acupuncturist there said the same thing. His paw started getting worse again so i called the vet Tuesday evening and told them what was going on and the receptionist told me that the provider who saw my dog was in clinic but has a full schedule of patients and wouldn't get back to me until Wednesday. Well unfortunately my dog had died Wednesday morning, ironically enough after finishing his course of prednisone. I called that morning and left them a message stating that i had previously called regarding his symptoms but unfortunately he had passed. I never received a call back, or even an apology. I attempted to call multiple times during the day to confirm they received my voice message but was unable to get through. I kept getting the answering machine. I finally tried again around 4 and someone finally answered. I asked if they received my voice message and she said it looks like someone already went ahead and changed his status in his chart. A call back would have been nice. The amount of time that was spent with my dog at his appt i feel was not appropriate. I feel he was misdiagnosed and mistreated. I called and requested the provider to review the x rays to see if there was something that they missed (of course left a message due to nobody EVER answering) just to kind of see what could have caused his death and i get a call back from a girl who was less than pleasant who sounded so irritated because i was requesting a second look. She told me nobody would get to it until Sunday... ok? I have now removed my other 2 animals and established them care at a different clinic where i have had exceptional service (even sent a card when we had to put the family cat down) I am so upset and angry at the negligence of the provider. How is it my dog died within 2 weeks of being seen for a "nerve issue". There had to be something more and if they took the time with the animals they could have found it. However, when it came time to schedule surgery for my beloved girl, I included them in the mix for cost comparison. I was stunned by the variety of quotes and different options for care I received from clinics in Lake Oswego, Tualatin, Wilsonville and Newberg. When weighing quality of care and price, we ended up scheduling surgery with Dr. Weber in Newberg. We couldn't have been happier with the entire process from scheduling, to vet care, to billing. After initially scheduling an appointment, we had to reschedule and they were very accommodating. They also took the time to go over all the financial elements thoroughly, since I was wary of hidden costs or extra fees based on some quotes I received from other vet hospitals in the area. For example, my regular clinic was charging twice the cost for the same surgery. I didn't need to worry since everything was handled exactly as described. Before and after care was easy and well explained and our girl has recovered beautifully. While it is probably too far for an annual visit and shots, I would absolutely return here again for anything out of the ordinary. read more

This place is a little out of the way for me (there are vets in Tigard much closer), but it has been worth it for me to take both my dogs here. I've had them do spay, neuter, vaccinations, and micro chipping here. They are busy, so you will need to book appointments well in advance. They are not a 24 hour facility though, so you may need to go elsewhere for after hours emergencies. During Covid, they developed a pretty good curbside assistance procedure. My dogs never get scared going here, so they must like the way they are treated here read more

They will also remind you they simultaneously do not use the app when you arrive for your confirmed appointments while they turn you away and talk to you as if you're an imbecile. But don't worry, when you try to show them your appointment confirmation, their helpful front desk will refuse to see it and affirm that you are incorrect and they are again not sure why the app allowed you to schedule but you are wrong and the Clinic is right and you wasted your time showing for a scheduled appt. I've tried. I paid for the gold puppy package. Waste of my money because we haven't been able to actually get the puppy care. Out the $350+, won't be going back or trying again. Do not recommend this clinic. Front desk staff is very rude. That will not even reach out to their vet staff when you have an urgent concern. I've had numerous bad interactions with them that I've listed below. At the end of the day we've decided to move vet clinics. One of our dogs has recurrent ear infections and everything they have prescribed has not worked. After several visits I asked if we really needed to see the vet for a 3rd visit for the same issue and they required him to be see every time. He still has an ear infection 1.5 years later... Our other dog is old and we are just trying to keep him comfortable for the best quality of life. Saw the vet once for this and got him started on medications which really improved him pain. Since that time, every single time that he needs his meds refilled they require you to call 48 hours prior to allow them to be filled. We have always followed this policy however we accidentally ran out. He is unable to even walk without his medication. After calling them today requesting an urgent refill (the front desk staff refused stating that we know the policy) we went over to the clinic and begged them they refilled it. They refilled it on the spot. Seems really inappropriate to refuse a pain medication refill on a dog when they are an emergency vet clinic... they fill meds on the spot all the time. I also had an incident where my dog developed acute vestibular syndrome. Out of nowhere he was unable to walk. I unfortunately am not able to pick him up on my own and take him in for an emergent visit. I called the vet office over 10 times with no response over 72 hours. After being rude to them I finally got a vet to call me back just to ask her if I should put him down. She wrote him for some anti nausea and antibiotics and eventually he completely improved. They're are clearly not even advocates for their own patients... Lastly, we watched them give our dog vaccinations. And then later we noticed that they hadn't updated his vaccination record. When we called to inform them the vaccination record wasn't up-to-date they told us that they never actually gave him the medication (despite us witnessing it.) After a long conversation they agreed to update his vaccine however charged us again for the vaccines. It is also almost impossible to get an appointment less than three weeks in advance. They'll give you an appointment for an urgent care visit but you may wait for hours after that scheduled time to be seen. If you have other options for vet care I would recommend that. read more

Rating the "Urgent Care" / emergency vet services. Only accepting small, sedate animals, a policy which should be explained to callers when phoning ahead to confirm availability, before one arrives and waits. Our dog had a sudden severe ear infection or injury this morning, bloody, swollen, and obviously quite painful. Our wonderful regular vet already had 6 drop offs to squeeze in between regular appointments so I called around to places that specifically state emergency services. Once there and they found out this is a 90lb mastiff mix, they were clearly hesitant. I told them he is super friendly, loving, a kisser and cuddler with everyone, but doesn't want us looking in his ears when they hurt. But since I said he had to be sedated to look at injuries previously, and yes he sort of snapped at the vet to protect his injuries, they said they would not see him. What injured and hurting animal doesn't snap at someone when they touch hurts?! A real emergency vet should be prepared for this! If not, they should be honest and say so up front. This is a dog who loves all delivery people, goes into the home stores with us, and loves everyone. Last week a pack of 5 dogs visiting the neighbors came out after him, all smaller than him. He could have hurt them badly given his size. Instead he tried to play, then ran them away from me, then ran home, chased all the way to his own porch. He was the only one with injuries. This is not an angry vicious dog. Too bad this 'emergency vet' made a snap judgment that sent him away while in need and in pain. They missed a lot of kisses from a very sweet dog. read more

The vets at this clinic have been amazing, and I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for these points: Today, I had an appointment and waited in the parking lot, I never left, 45 minutes later someone called me saying "I'm not sure if you're still here because I've been looking for your car and couldn't find the spot". Mind you I hadn't left my car or the parking spot for that entire time. She then came out saying they didn't have any of my dogs vaccination records. I had emailed them when I first moved to Oregon and had given them the hard copies as well which I told her. She said she would make sure she updated the files. It concerns me the records were not updated even though my dog has been going there for the past 6 months. Especially since she was talking to me about giving him a vaccine he had already gotten. We relocated to Denver, CO a year ago and have been trying to get them to fax or transfer our pets records, they won't do it. The Newberg Veterinary Clinic added a lot of stress to an already traumatic situation when our cat passed, and they made it very clear that they are here for money, not for the health and well-being of their patients and certainly not of their customers. I will never forget their lack of concern for our situation and the feeling that we were being extorted for money because somebody we trusted brought our sick cat in to them and we just needed to get her home again before she passed. Our cat Bobbi was brought in to Newberg Veterinary Hospital on 8/30 by a boarding facility that was caring for her while my wife and I were traveling to attend my brother's wedding. We received a phone call from the boarding facility, advising us that the cat was taken to the vet and we would have to pick her up from there. On 8/31, we got back into town and my wife went to pick Bobbi up from the vet hospital. She came home crying because Bobbi was in the last stages of her life but the hospital would not release her into our care until their bill was paid in full. Since we had not brought her into the vet and had not authorized any of the costs incurred, we had asked to be invoiced so we could have some time to fit the cost into our budget, but were told that payment terms were not negotiable. We were forced to pay their bill on the spot to get Bobbi released and we brought her home, where she passed the following day. I called the hospital after Bobbi got home, to discuss the bill and could only reach an automated answering service that offered me several places to leave a voicemail but didn't seem to connect to a live person during business hours. I left a voicemail on 8/31 and as of this writing on 9/6, I have not received a call back. I also sent an email to the main office on 8/31 and again have received no response from anyone at the hospital. It seems that now that they got their money, nobody at the hospital has any regard for my wife and I, so we are being ignored entirely. read more

They failed to address our dog's chronic vomiting upon our scheduled visit and treated us as second or third class when we tried to bring him in as a follow up during "urgent care." During our Thanksgiving holiday this year, we had a pet emergency. Our 2.5 month old goodendoodle had his ear bitten halfway off by another dog. In a total state of Panic, I phoned for assistance and Dr. Aschim returned my call. She was calm, listened to my situation, gave me direct information, instruction & advice. I was able to wrap my dogs half eaten ear, and bring him in the next day for her to perform surgery and stitch him up. I cannot he thankful enough that she took her holiday to work for patients like us who have emergency services. Usually I love and trust this place with my whole heart but not today after me and my 3 month old kitten came in. First I came in and checked in, the staff who check you in weren't having it short responses and a rude attitude. I sat down and waited 5 minutes until a girl came up to me and said "who do we have" usually at this place they call the animals name like the patients they are so I just responded with my cats name and followed her in. She didn't even acknowledge my kitten give her any love she just commented one how big her feet were for her age. I was just expecting her to treat my cat like an actual animal to show her that she could trust the lady but no sadly she checked her temp and went off to get the actual doctor. Now the actual doctor was very sweet and loving and my kitten went right up to her and gave her love because she trusted her the doc gave her vaccinations and told us to have a good rest of our day and said bye to us. Again with the vet Tech she came back in commented on her big feet again and started to clip her nails she was very rough and my kitten started to freak out hissing and biting so I held her scruff while she was in my arms to calm her down and not make her move too much so we could get it over with and she said "no need to grab her scruff it makes her more nervous" uh no you do not tell me how to hold my kitten for not even 30 seconds to calm her down and it's the proper way to grab them to stay in place so me or the vet tech wouldn't get hurt. After that was done she gave me flea and worm medicine didn't even tell me how to use it and left without saying bye to me or my cat she just walked out the door I am personally very disappointed with this place and having those people who don't even acknowledge your animals will not make you want to come back. Since I've been taking my kitty there for the last 9 months I've seen a decline in there customer service, it's been three years since ve been there, at that time they were really good. The 2 lady vets are to quick to order blood work or x-rays or other spends treatment. Dr Fischer is the best he a natural at being a vet. But now my kitty has a pushed in nose I've been told that there is nothing more they can do they did teach me how to take care of her and it's been working pretty good. Recently we were in there and saw Dr Johnson right of the bat she said " there's nothing we can do" we were there because of a ear issue and her nose was still blowing green snot, I also was seeking advice on one of her meds but she had dollar signs in her eyes. This med is speedy. I had no choice but to see her Dr Fischer wasn't there till the middle of the week, I didn't want to make my kitty wait longer. I am seriously considering finding another vet, there could be other issues come up and I do t want them to assume it's the nose problem, my kitty deserves good care just like any other pet. Dr Johnson shouldn't have assumed the nose is why we were there, it was mostly the ear problem. read more

Define emergency... okay, before today, despite being extremely busy ALL the time, Newberg Vet easily would have won the 5 star award. Today however, the rating is substantially less. If there were a half star option, that'd be it. And the half star would go to the wonderful receptionist that tried hard to help us. Our baby is somehow hurt herself jumping off of something. She's older so she has arthritis too, she also has seizures though not too frequently but often enough, she's nearly grey for a black dog. We called to see if we could get her in to see a Doctor on very short notice. Her eyes weren't focusing, she seemed confused and forget walking as well as not eating and licking her chops constantly. The receptionist told me there was only one emergency and the doctors were already working on it, come on in and she could get in right away. No one ahead of us... good deal! We jumped into the car and were there in just a few minutes. My husband rushes our baby into the office, when he's told to take a seat after just explaining this was an urgent matter. He sat for 35 minutes watching people come in and leave and no one calling him in with our very confused baby. He finally got up and asked at the desk and was told many other emergencies had come in. So our baby somehow doesn't qualify to see a doctor? She can't even stand up! A tech shows up and looks at her eyes and says, she looks good, no worries here. Not even asking about her injury and scurries away. WTF! These doctors were the best, maybe they still are, who knows?! The tech on the other hand needs another job! And the woman behind the desk should really come up with the truth rather than making us feel like our baby doesn't matter but all others do. Yeah, this place used to be top notch... but don't go there if you have a serious emergency... make a back up plan! You'll probably need it. As for the receptionist... This has been the absolute worst experience. My cat had her bladder perforated and cost me thousands because of ill educated and ill prepared staff. My cat infected my other dogs with kennel cough from a dog they had a their facility that was sick. All thumbs down. Don't take your family pet their unless you want them sick or dead. Also, while we were waiting another dog had contracted staff while under their care... I was taking my dog back in who got sick from my bangle cat who was in their care, and another animal parent informed us their baby (a puppy) contracted a freaking staff infection from this facility.. read more

Always been my primary care provider for my two kitties, dogs, and goats. Close to my house, so the drive is not too bad. I have been going to this vet for over two years. Recently, I took my second cat to be spayed. Only having a positive experience before, I figured there would be absolutely no trouble with any aspect of the appointment. However, scheduling, pre-, and post-op, I had the worst luck with receptionists. They were short on the phone during scheduling and very condescending - I felt out of place just calling. Arriving to drop off my cat, she rushed me angrily and would ignore me. No one else was in the clinic! I started to become confused. Again, just the receptionists, I'm sure medically everything would go swimmingly. I showed up to pick up my cat and they handed her to me with some meds and off they went. No care sheets, suggestions, information - Nada. My cat so far is not responding to surgery very well, even worst than my first cat. Just wish the customer service wasn't lacking. I just want to say thank you to Dr. Erin Tripp for saving my mother's dog Penny. When we took Penny home initially with a diagnosis of kidney failure, we thought that was it. We'd care for her till she died. She wasn't eating or drinking and getting weaker by the day. Then Erin called and said she'd been thinking about the symptoms, lab work, and responses of Penny to the IV and landed on the possibility of Addison's Disease which it turned out to be, a treatable disease. Addison's is hard to diagnose because the symptoms imitate other issues such as kidney disease, but she picked up on some small things that pointed to Addison's. Sheesh: Dr. Weber even gave me his direct cell phone number in case anything happened over the holidays. I've sent many friends here. We left our dog (female shih-tzu 7 y.o.) with our son as we went out of state on vacation for two weeks. No sooner had we left, when she started vomiting and drooling. The staff at Newberg Vet took her in immediately and treated her for bladder stones. The surgery cost was much less than I figured it would be. The staff treated her like their own. She even avoided the dreaded "collar of shame" and came home with a beautiful bandana, instead. I can't thank you enough for your wonderful care of my sweet baby girl. Back in February's ice storm my dog slipped and badly injured his knee. My vet said it was luxating patella and he needed surgery and gave me an estimate for one leg or both! I was devastated and terrified, of course, but I did the grownup thing and went for a second opinion. I saw Dr. Weber at Newberg Veterinary Hospital and he advised me to give my dog a few more weeks to heal before scheduling surgery. It was the PERFECT advice!! My dog continued to get better and now, 3 months later, he is completely back to normal. Not even a limp and all activities resumed! With NO SURGERY!! If we had had the surgery, my dog would have spent the last three months with restricted movement and would only just be starting to get back to normal. He would have had his tiny little leg cut open and the bones sawed and screwed back together for NO REASON!!! Now Dr. Weber has my absolute trust and I am definitely never going back to my old vet! Not that it was my biggest concern, but the cost estimate for the surgery at Newberg, if I had gone through with it, was significantly lower than my original vet. Dr. Weber obviously cares far more for the welfare of the animals than for revenues of his business. read more
