We came here as a group after visiting a bar in the area, and I have to say the food really surprised me. I've driven past this place a number of times and finally decided to give it a try. Our group ordered a variety of items, including buffalo wings, pasta dishes, and pizza, and everything turned out great. It's more spacious than it looks from the outside, and everything was clean and well maintained. Service - For the most part, the service was great. Since it was a busy Friday evening, there were a couple of hiccups. A few people in our group didn't receive their food until we brought it to the waitress's attention, but the issue was handled quickly. Jenkintown is the best kept secret of little towns right outside of Philly. So many cute shops and little historic movie theater and this casual Newbolds restaurant. This is definitely where the locals come for a relaxed sit down dinner. We got pizza, salad and a burger. Very good! read more

Newbold used to be our go-to spot in Jenkintown, but unfortunately, our recent visit was a big letdown. They used to have the best pizza...crispy, crunchy, and always cooked perfectly. This time, the pizza wasn't even fully cooked. It was greasy, and the whole slice just flopped. Service was pretty underwhelming too. The bartender was on her phone the entire time, barely paying attention. The only bright spot was one young gentleman who noticed we were ready to leave and quickly helped us check out. I have gotten takeout and dined in at this resturant multiple times in the past. I previosly felt like the pizza was good and other menu items decent enough. This was the four time 1 have dined in there and I had one of the worst dining experience with the service. We arrived on time for our 8:30pm reservation, a reservation made a whole 1.5 hours before their closing time, which should be enough time for 6 adults to eat pizza, especially when there are only a handful of tables filled in the restaurant, so it was mostly empty. The waitress seemed I like she did not want to be there. k My friend asked a question about a menu item. It was a salad. However, the item was split in two lines with all the salad ingredients on one line and the dressing one the second line. So all my friend had seen was lemon dressing $12, and he asked what it was and why it was $12. This made the waitress upset. Ilt wasn't until after she described it that we realized the two lines described the salad. I guess since she didn't like our stupid questions due to our confusion with reading the menu, she had to slam drink glasses on the table for the cocktail and two beers that were ordered. Either way, we order wings and 3 pizza pies. The wings came out pretty quickly, but the pizza took over an hour. Not once did anyone in the restaurant come over to address the issue before it became an issue. When we asked, they kept telling us a few more minutes EW would k be right out, and by theyl mean thne other wait staff and b bartender because our waitress never came back over to our table. People who came in after us got their food before us. Mind you, I have order take out from here at least 2-3 other times, and the pizza took 20-30 minutes tops for multiple pies on a busy night. Remember what I said at the beginning of this eview it was not a busy night. The kicker is they seemed annoyed that we were stil in the restaurant eating so close to closing, but our food wasn't served to us until 9:40pm. We didn't see our waitress again until we asked for the check and boxes because we still had a whole pie & a half left, since we didn't feel welcome to finish eating there. This place almost received a 5 star review but sitting with a direct view of the kitchen area where the pizza is made, I observed the cook/pizza maker who does not wear a hair net allowing her shoulder length hair to hang out, tuck her hair behind her ear while making food. Yuck! The food was fantastic but I didn't eat the crus I started with the Spring Mix Salad with Blue Cheese Crumbles, apples, and French vinaigrette. We asked the bartender if the size of the pizza was a personal size or sharing size and he said definitely a sharing size so we ordered the Popeye pizza. When cut it makes 8 nice sized slices. The food was very good but I didn't eat the crust. I felt safer thinking that if the cook did touch the pizza to slice it, that she touched the part that I didn't swallow. I had two cocktails. The Cherry Popsicle and the Cole and Cold Brew martini. OMG. The cold brew taste like coffee and was so very good with just the right amount of sweetness. The Cherry Popsicles had subtle hints of Cherry so not overpowering. I was expecting it to be a little red but it wasn't. Very good nonetheless. Dined here with a friend a few days ago. We arrived around 5:45 and the restaurant was empty, but by the time we left, it was packed! We ordered apps to share. The Brussels sprouts weren't great at all, but it got better from there. The cacio e pepe was good, but the kale salad and potato croquettes were excellent! The portions were large. I made a reservation for a Friday night date night. We went early when the restaurant just opened but were seated immediately. Parking has always kept me from visiting any place in Jenkintown but I found it was really easy to park behind the restaurant in public parking which was 3 buck. The restaurant is really nice inside. My only issue the entire time is that it was dark. Never the less our server was wonderful and made great food suggestions. My date really loved the Brussels sprouts. They are good. They were sweet with sunflower seeds. Definitely a must try. I had the potato croquettes and scallops. The scallops had so much flavor and were cooked to perfection. We had our first Detroit pizza (added mushrooms and onions) and the server got serious points for automatically bringing over hot pepper flakes, garlic powder and Parmesan. This was kind of a tale of two meals. We started with complimentary bread, a cocktail, and some wine. The wine was fine. The cocktail was too sweet. The bread was nice. I'm trying to watch what I eat, so I ordered the salmon. I wasn't expecting much, but I thought that it was really delicious. It was a huge piece of fish with perfectly cooked potatoes and spinach in a really lovely buttery sauce. I loved it. My wife, on the other hand, is not watching what she eats, so she ordered the pork chop. Like the salmon, it was absolutely massive. Unlike the salmon, it was not good. At all. Even though she ordered it medium, it was dry, dry, dry. She literally only ate one bite. If I had ordered this, I would have sent it back. She doesn't like to send things back, so we got it wrapped up. In a day or two we'll probably throw it away. This was the most expensive thing on the menu. For the prices they're charging someone should have asked why she wasn't eating it. Also, what in the world is up with the "if you're eating pizza, you must sit on this side" policy? OMGGGG, this place is delicious!!! We ordered takeout during the stay at home order. The woman who answered the phone was so friendly and sweet. Pickup was super easy, smooth and contactless! We opted for the fried chicken sandwich and the burger. Both came with rosemary fries which were skinny fries that's were cooked and seasoned perfectly! The chicken sandwiches was HUGE!! We opted for no coleslaw and sauce on the side. The breading on the chicken was so crispy and delicious! It also came with a tomato on it. This will be my go to order!!For the burger we added cheese and got the sauce on the side. The burger was cooked medium and came with lettuce and tomato. The sauce we had put on the side. Only thing I would say I would like to see done differently is say exactly what your getting on the menu. Both sandwiches came with pickles but the menu didn't say that. The burger didn't mention lettuce and tomato but it came with both. A huge pet peeve of mine is menus that don't clearly state what your going to be served. DEFINITELY TRY THIS PLACE!! I went here for the first time Saturday evening around 5pm. I heard good things and am always looking for new spots. The place was surprisingly empty which was weird considering there were no reservations available online. It is a smaller spot with 2 bars, a few tables and a few high times near the pizza oven. It was a cute place. I was seated at one of the bars and ordered a keg Pinot which was very good and was delivered quickly. I ordered a wedge salad and a fried chicken sandwich which was highly reviewed on here and recommended by the server. The wedge was very good, albeit incredibly overpriced (13.00). That's a lot of lettuce, some dressing and bacon and a few tomatoes. But, whatever, it was good. The chicken sandwich however was a total flop. First, it was cooked WAY too long in the fryer. I mean, fried lifeless and completely burnt. The chicken did not taste seasoned at all nor was the breading. The slaw was barely there and limp and the "secret sauce" was barely a smear on the roll. I let the server know and she did offer (kind of) to get me another one, but I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't have time to wait for another. I was honestly just surprised that a chef would put that on a plate. Considering the price of the salad, the chicken sandwich was actually very reasonable. Based on other reviews I would be very willing to give this place another shot, It seems I just had was the lucky recipient of an off night. I would have preferred if the server offered to take some money of the sandwich though. Overall the service was ok, my water glass was never refilled, but I didn't wait long for a second glass of wine and the server/bar tender was very pleasant. read more

We ordered takeout from Newbold's for dinner this evening. We ordered online for pickup. The ordering process is very easy, and it gave us an estimated time for when our order would be ready (30 minutes). I arrived a few minutes before the estimated time, and it was packaged and ready to go. The staff was friendly and available right away to get my order, double-checking in the computer system to make sure she was giving me the correct order. The food was delicious. We ordered one Bacon Jam Burger, medium-rare, and one Mushroom Burger, medium-well. Both were cooked perfectly. They are HUGE (as they should be, considering the price). We've driven by this place a few times but finally ordered for delivery the other night. We are about a 13 minute drive and our food was delivered within 45 minutes. I ordered the burger, which was cooked perfectly and really good. The rosemary fries were still hot and delicious. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich and he really enjoyed it too. Everything came in biodegradable packaging instead of styrofoam which makes me happy. We ate in their cute outdoor patio area. The service was good. The food was elevated, not at all what I'd expected. I'm having dreams about that smoked mozzarella and roasted tomato craft pizza . The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 : we were still eating our burger and had requested a box for the leftover pizza . Since we were eating at a little bistro table we took a chair from another table for the box. A hostess came over and said she need to take back the chair, although no one ultimately sat at the other table . She just handed the full size pizza box to us while we were eating, without offering to put it somewhere. Pretty rude. I look forward to going back and trying more of their offerings. We had really high hopes for this place based off of their social media reviews/pictures, we thought the pizza looked great. Sadly, we are extremely dissatisfied. We ordered and got the cauliflower for an appetizer. $10 for 8 pieces of cauliflower? That's just unacceptable. The pizza wasn't terrible (it was cold when delivered, which I won't put fully on the restaurant as I would think that's partially on the delivery service) but it wasn't anything near what we were hoping. Just ate at Newbolds for the first time and will definitely be the last. We ordered 2 different pizzas, one plain pizza with caramelized onions and one cheese pizza with caramelized onions. The plain pizza was 85% cheese and almost no tomato sauce and the "caramelized onions" were simply raw onions that were cooked for a minute or two. The other pizza also had "caramelized onions" whiy were just raw cooked onions. Will never go back.
