Scoogis it's a go to spot of mine for home-like Italian dishes. The stuffed long hots are a staple when I order. They are generously stuffed with veal/pork and mozzarella cheese. The sauce is not clerk sweet and the peppers themselves are not overly spicy, the peppers themselves are almost in the background when taking a bite. Their mussel appetizer is a generous portion with the mussels being the meatier ones, which I prefer as more meat and they are more flavorful! Mixed drinks can be a hit or miss as I find the aperol spritz sometimes is made on the weaker side and their margs are not always shaken well. I tend to stick with the wines. I'll cut right to the chase - Scoogis was the highlight of my family's weekend. We were extremely satisfied with the quality of food and service we received. I made a reservation for a party of 4 at 1:00 PM. The parking lot situation wasn't bad with the exception of a couple spots being covered in mounds of snow. We arrived around 12:35 PM and were able to be seated immediately. Michael was our server and he was fantastic. Checked in on us regularly and was the sweetest soul. To start, we ordered the tempura cauliflower. It was perfectly tasty and crisp. We requested the sauce on the side because I didn't want to smother the cauliflower in the General Froy's sauce (similar to General Tso sauce). The sauce was awesome. Eggplant parm had a sweet sauce with al-dente pasta topped with cheese. It had a lot of flavor and was a nicely sized portion for the price! The cannoli was my happy ending. Here we are, a week before the holiday and we find ourselves in PA visiting family who can't be with us next week. We had a big turkey dinner the night before and had zero energy to face making anything in the kitchen. We decided to get some Italian food as we know that no matter how well intentioned, you can truly only get a great gravy the closer you are in proximity to NJ. When we used to live near this area, we frequented Scoogis and wanted to see if they still were da bomb. In case I am taking too long to let you know...oh boy they still got it. Our server was Lyndsey and she was a gem. She was quick with the comeback to us playing. God I miss the Yankee sense of humor sometimes! Lyndsey was quick with our drinks, quick to take our order...and here is the key...she times each course perfectly. At no time did we feel rushed. The table started with soup and salad. The chicken noodle was comforting on this cold night. The crab bisque was creamy and delish and omg the wedge salad was a work of art. We pretty much all decided on the Bolognese for our main dish and we're so not disappointed. I personally can't wait for my next lunch or dinner as I brought home leftovers. The prices are truly reasonable and there is plenty of parking in the rear. It's a well lit building so you won't miss it but I highly recommend if you are in the area and feel like amazing Italian food...head to Scoogis.
