That's how eager and motivated I was. Instantly her and I had connected and I was adamant on getting the program started. She had helped me gather the details for the upcoming classes and we agreed on potential weekend classes starting June 28. I was thrilled and spoke so highly about the program. I was able to receive possible financial aid through MYCAA (military spousal education aid) and reached out to Selena who provided me what I needed to submit. After speaking to MYCAA and creating my application it came back deferred because of expired documents and the school not registered in the system. I reached out to Selena and explained to her what was needed by MYCAA for verification so we can get that application moving forth and she noted it down and begin the colleges application with me that way when MYCAA application was completed she would automatically enroll me in the program with my application which was on June 2nd. Mind you my potential program started on June 28th. June 24 comes around, and I haven't heard back from her. I called the school multiple times and I texted her to ask for an update. I was completely ignored. As a school advisor/recruiter, isn't it your job to help encourage students success and most of all get them enrolled? To reach out, and update the students on whatever circumstance so their path can be adjusted and we find any way. I was willing to pay for the program of $2700 of for whatever reason MYCAA wasn't acknowledged by the school, but at least as a school advisor where I gave you my time my efforts and interest - keep me in the loop and don't ignore me when I'm trying to get hands on training from the school that you're representing. June 28 passes and all the excitement, motivation and people I've told that I'm going to begin the program and even recruited to this school, was disappointing. Now I'm left wondering and searching for other schools that can provide me with the opportunity and it's a shame because I intended to not stop at phlebotomy but I wanted to venture out in other programs after completion with the same school and Selena knew. So not only was I a happy student but I also was a great source of potential fees and payment for the school. Days passes and July 1st comes by, I received a call from the school. I still had hope and wanted to give them a second chance because I still want to train and felt comfortable attending this school. Melissa, a new advisor/recruiter to my understanding was helping Selena manage applicants. I explained to Melissa my situation as it looks like she had no idea of my situation, and Melissa eager to help get me enrolled and restart the process because she was apologetic of the situation and explained Selena had been overwhelmed with the workload and couldn't keep up with applicants (which is incorrect because her and I had constant communication up until MYCAA). Yet I told Melissa I'm looking for other schools but I'm happy to give them a try once more and she offered to seek more information from Selena, to soothe in my reluctance of applying once more. I said okay and I'd still like to train , and she said she will let me know the update and then begin my application. For some reason , once more another advisor/representative of the school has led me on and appeared that she incorrectly called me or wasn't supposed to because I never heard back from her again. It seems the school is hiring people who don't keep their word nor want to go into the efforts of doing their job correctly to hire applicants - least of all update them of the progress. I've attached screenshots below to show the lack of responses. I'm pretty sure they manipulated the system and wrote that I declined joining the program because I had no interest which is incorrect, I was very excited. As a military spouse not only is this disappointing but disrespectful because MYCAA recognizes the school in different locations, and I'm giving my time and efforts and money towards this institution with a certain level of commitment as military. I will be contacting MYCAA to let them know of this college and their lack of communication, efforts and deception so future military spouses don't waste their time, resources or money at this location and potential schools. One school and their staffing is a reflection of everyone else. As a school I encourage to hire better committed staffing to do their job throughly and not halfway it. The basis of a recruiter is communication, follow up , and an advisor to get the student enrolled in the program and get them on their success pathway. My experience with this program was extremely disappointing and, at times, felt misleading…read more Students pay around $1,200-$1,500 for the course alone, then are required to pay additional costs for uniforms, supplies, and other materials that are not clearly explained upfront. In my experience, students were often told to purchase materials with little notice, sometimes the night before or even the same day they were needed, and some of those materials were never used at all. The quality of instruction also did not match the cost of the program. A large portion of the coursework was labeled as "self-study," with instructors frequently telling students to "read it on your own" rather than actually teaching the material during class. As a student, it felt frustrating to pay for instruction and support while being expected to teach myself much of the material. Students were also assigned handwritten "Signs and Symptoms" homework assignments that took a significant amount of time to complete but were never actually reviewed or gone over in class. With the large amount of material already being assigned, this often took away from valuable study time without providing much educational benefit. On quiz days, instructors would often quickly go over one or two chapters right before the quiz and then expect students to fully remember and understand all of the material immediately afterward. Personally, I felt there was not enough actual teaching, review, or preparation before being tested. During skills days, much of the equipment was broken or unusable, which made it difficult to practice properly. With around 60 students per class all paying nearly $1,500, I believe there should have been enough functioning equipment available for students. Another concern was the Block 2 exam. A new exam format was introduced, and the class average was reportedly around 60%, which made many students, including myself, feel that we were not properly prepared or set up for success. There were also multiple questions covering a topic that had never been discussed during lectures, which made the exam feel unfair and confusing for many students. I also spoke with many students throughout the class about their experiences with the program. A large handful mentioned that this was their second time taking the course because they had failed it the first time, which was honestly concerning to hear so often. The program also charges a $50 fee to reschedule ride-alongs regardless of the reason, including family emergencies or serious illness, and this policy was not clearly communicated beforehand. I also felt that students were often not clearly told why they failed certain tests or skills evaluations or what specific areas they needed to improve on. Because of this, I often felt unable to properly learn from my mistakes or understand what needed to be corrected moving forward. Overall, based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this program. It often felt more focused on collecting money than supporting students and helping them succeed.
