It's not always easy finding a place that's comfortable for my dog Snowy who is 13 years old, but I never have to worry when I leave Snowy here. They have a wonderful house with a lot of room to go outside and furniture to nap on. Ever since my husband and I moved to San Diego, it's been nothing but a long string of mediocre/bad dog-sitters for our dog Chewy. OMG..where do I begin. These two are the best dog sitters in the world. They have been watching my little guy for about 2 years now. We travel once a month for 4-5 days and we always leave Joey with them. They are loving and kind and all the dogs are having a ball when they are with them. This is a little over due. While I was in the process of selling my TO town home, I wanted to find a doggy daycare/daycamp for Jax (my 1 year old husky/pomeranian mix.) I saw the excellent reviews on Yelp for this place so I decided to try it. Soooo happy I did. Before Lisa accepts your canine, she does an interview to see if your dog will get along with other dogs. Excellent idea! She gets detailed information regarding vaccinations/neuter/spay. Excellent idea! Lisa has two daycare locations close to each other (one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs.) While Jax is only 28 pounds, he acts like he is a 75 pound big dog. Lisa felt it was best Jax joined the large dog club which was great! First day at daycare, I dropped off Jax and returned to my car tearing up a little bit. WHAT?! I guess dogs are your kids! Anywhooooo.......Jax loved it! He could not get enough of this place. Bob is in charge of the large dog club and he is absolutely awesome! Bob plays with them, takes short video clips and texts the videos to the parents. I would drop off Jax every morning and Bob could not open the door fast enough. Even when it rains, they have fixed up the garage just for the dogs. Outside, there is a pool, slide leading up to an enclosed trampoline, and a running area. It is truly a dog's paradise! Although we recently moved, we will ALWAYS remember Newbury Bark with Bob and Lisa! and of course Terri Jo! :) Thank you kindly for taking excellent care of Jax. I know Jax misses everyone! We adopted a sweet puppy from Shelter Hope just over a month ago and ever since I rescued her, she will not let me out of her sight. While appreciating her protectiveness and keen observance skills, we noticed that she was very very sad being crated for 3-4 hours when we were out working. We knew she didn't hate the crate as she happily went in every night to sleep. I also didn't want our neighbors to have to hear her cry every morning so off to yelp I went in hopes of finding some kind of day care for her. It's been 3 days now and I will tell ya- there is a 100% difference that her being around other pups and getting love from Lisa and Anton. But, what really sold me & my husband was Bob's love for the dogs. He knows each of them and all their quirks...who prefers to be alone or just be around a few dogs at a time...who can get over excited and needs a time out now and again...who is the "old man" in the group and helps new dogs adjust. Our 5month old pup was overwhelmed at first, but Bob knew exactly who to pair him up with, so he could learn the "ropes" and fit into the pack. We rescued our cattle dog mix in June 2016. We wanted to crate train him but very quickly it became apparent that he suffered from separation anxiety, although some would call it sheer panic!!! My mom use to watch Jackson until we moved to thousand Oaks. Jackson was going to a reputable daycare that came highly recommended. Everything was great. All we ever heard was how much they loved our dog and thought we was wonderful. Then 3 months into his time at this daycare, when my husband went to pick him up, he was told Jackson was kicked out. My husband text me while at work, "Jackson was kicked out of daycare, he can't come back." I called my husband thinking the worst...he tried to bite a human, he got in a fight with another dog....what was so bad that Jackson could no longer return to daycare? When I finally talked to my husband, I asked him "what happened?"My husband tells me " He jumped over a wall." "WHAT????" My husband said again, "He jumped over a wall and was in an area (still within the daycare) that he wasn't suppose to be in. He can't come back!" This was on a Monday. I was devastated, this was a great place that came highly recommended and now, just like that, our sweet Jackson was kicked out for jumping. My husband was able to work from home so that Jackie could be with him. Now my job was to find a daycare to replace the last daycare. A few days later I called Lisa in tears. "My dog is a sweet dog, everyone loves him but he got kicked out of daycare." I admitted. When I told Lisa why he was kicked out, (I will never forget her response), "Why was the wall short enough for him to jump over, especially if they knew he was a jumper?" Right then and there I knew I wanted Jackson at Newbury Bark. Newbury Bark requires an evaluation, to make sure your dog will be cohesive with the existing pack. Jackson has been a part of this amazing pack for 3 months now. Bob and Lisa welcome each dog into their pack as if they were their own. This daycare doesn't even feel like a daycare. It feels more like you are leaving your dog at home with constant supervision. With updates everyday, including video and pictures, I never wonder or worry about Jackie. Lisa and Bob are the best at their jobs, some days I feel like Jackson would rather stay at daycare than come home! Lisa and Anton are amazing! They've watched our shiba inu for several weeks while we travel throughout the year...it was the best choice I ever made. There were other places to board our dog such as the doggy hotel in Westlake or other boarding facilities, but this was the best. Dogs are socialized and made to feel at home. And, it's not like dogs get dumped off and ignored, Lisa and Anton are proactive and engaging with the dogs and the owners. They always tell me stories of funny events or activities our dog experienced , or how our dog curled up in bed with them. It's soooo cute! It feels like our own family taking care of our precious loved one when we are away traveling. And while we are traveling, I'm sent video and pictures of our dog playing and having a great time! A long overdue 5 star review here! Wonderful people, who helped us out by taking our dog at a moments notice. She'd had a stressful time traveling across country when we relocated. We then found ourselves suddenly stuck without dog friendly accommodation. Thank goodness we found this place. Our dog had a wonderful time and came home her old happy self. In fact, I wondered if she'd even want to come home after the fun she had there! I received lots of pictures and video of her playing with her new dog friends, and when we picked her up she got a special farewell visit from her human carer who had bonded with her so sweetly. Highly recommended for dogs who enjoy being with other dogs. They live and sleep in the house and play in the yard all day, and they even have a fenced pool for dogs who enjoy water. We had recently moved to town and needed a place for our dog to be while we were at the hospital having our first baby. Lisa and Newbury Bark were the best! We scheduled a meet and greet with her and could immediately tell our dog was going to be comfortable and cared for by people who have a gift for animals. The space in their backyard was under renovation with dogs in mind. We loved that our dog was out and playing with other dogs, under supervision and in smaller numbers instead of being locked in a cage all day. Not to mention the competitive rates! However, beyond the excellent care for our dog, was the stellar customer service we got. Lisa was flexible with our schedule, even willing to get a call in the middle of the night if we needed to go to the hospital. When we dropped Willow (our dog) off, Lisa had the great idea of one last family photo with the dog before the baby came. We got regular pictures and updates about our dog as well. To top it all off, when we picked Willow up there was a card and a gift for the new baby from the dog (obviously arranged and purchased by Lisa)! To us, that is way beyond the call of duty.
