PASS ON THIS PLACE. Would not recommend this place. I was looking around to find a place a bit closer to us than our usual barks and rec (they are great by the way just a bit far and a little more expensive). We took our two dogs there for a temperament evaluation since it was their first time and we were wanting to book them for a week in October. They took them back for maybe 3 MINUTES and came back out and said that one of our dogs was nervous (I'm sorry but duh) and that we needed to book "A LOT" of day visits so he would not be nervous anymore. It's odd because it's totally normal for any dog to be nervous the first time going somewhere which immediately threw up a red flag for me. Not to mention the lady was pretty rude about it when I was obviously confused as to how they would know his normal stress levels after 3 minutes upon getting there. I got weird vibes so I just said we can cancel it and no worries. She immediately snaps back and says something about me not being fair to our dog if I don't book daycare visits regularly and what am I even doing there if we already have a boarding place etc.(very strange behavior). Most places have you book a day visit so they can see how your dog adjusts the entire day which our dogs do totally fine. Our dog is 10 years old and doesn't have any underlying anxiety conditions and was never prescribed medication for that ever so this seemed odd. Just a bad vibe in general. Unfriendly staff and insufficient time to actually see how the dogs warm up to the place for the first time. read more

They lack Customer service in every way and they are rude! I called to cancel a reservation and was told due to it being a holiday weekend I would not get a refund.. Absolute BS.. anyway I was unaware of that and the rude person said she would refund my money but I was not welcomed back. My dog has stayed there many times before.. even when it was called Lazy Dog and even though they have never been extremely great with my dog.. i still took him there because it was close to where I needed be.. We love the Doggy Den! We've boarded our two pups there for long vacations while we traveled overseas, and frequently use their daycare. Our pups are always excited to get in the door! Daycare drop off and pick up are so convenient for people who work long days--I drop off after 7 a.m. and pick up by 6:30 p.m. I'm always happy to have the dogs in daycare playing and having fun versus being home alone on those long days! My pup still loves it here and I highly recommend them but this is about their love for animals: recently, someone dumped a little baby puppy in their parking lot . They immediately took him in and bathed, fed and confirmed he was not chipped. When I saw him I sent a picture to my friend who had 2 just like him. Ann arranged a time to take him to my friend's house and it was love at first sight. He is now living his best life in a loving home and this is all thanks to The Doggy Den for their unwavering love of animals. Other reviews are correct- this place is biased against Pitbulls! I brought my dog here for potential boarding and needed to do an evaluation before his boarding. My dog is NOT aggressive at all, not to humans or dogs. He plays a little rough with other dogs so I usually as to keep him away from other dogs. They said the evaluation would take 20ish minutes. Well, within 10 minutes they called me and said he did not pass evaluation. Why? Because he stood by the door when let out to the yard because he was nervous after being there for 10 minutes. Of course he was nervous. I asked if he showed any aggression, she said no. The ironic this is- my friend who recommended this place to me and who takes her dog here has a 120 Pound massive dog who is super aggressive towards people and dogs. The woman who checked him in was clearly not comfortable with this breed and is quite sad that they stereotype at a dog place. Will happily take my $ elsewhere. My rescue Pomeranian Sylvie is a little scared of other dogs, especially big ones. But I needed either a daycare or dog walker to watch over Sylvie while I was at work, and I happened to come across the Doggy Den. I like that the Doggy Den strikes a good balance between flexibility and ensuring that the dogs are in a safe environment. They check vaccination records for every dog that enters the facility but also accept booking requests that are made super last minute (I'm guilty of this). I dropped Sylvie off in the morning, paid for a full day of service, and picked up Sylvie in the afternoon. The whole process was very easy, and I had the peace of mind knowing that she was being looked after. When I picked up Sylvie the first day, she was a little quiet and seemed ready to leave. She is pretty reserved when it comes to new experiences such as this, so I didn't see it as a concern. On the second day, she was visibly more excited and alive. I think after an adjustment period, she will be more comfortable with being at daycare. Price-wise, Doggy Den is on par with most daycares in the area. I like that they also have an Instagram page, where you can see pictures of the cute dogs and play areas. If I have one small complaint, it's that my dog smelled heavily of daycare when I picked her up. Overall, this is a solid choice if you are looking for a safe place to drop off your dog in the Thousand Oaks area. read more

This was Francis' first time in doggy day care. The staff at The Doggy Den was super helpful and kind. My pup left there happy and exhausted from all of the playtime. I feel super comfortable leaving him at the Doggy Den whenever the need arises, he gets treated well, and the socialization aspect is great for him since he is the only dog in my household. We put our 3 dogs in a suite for two days so they would be comfortable. When we picked them up, one dog had a chunk taken out of her ear and another one was all wet and covered in urine! They were also starving and extremely thirsty, so they had to have had little water, and who knows about the food. You don't get any leftovers back. Our dogs are family members, and they were not treated well while there. I would not recommend this place for anyone's furry family members! read more

I have to say, I am highly impressed with the doggie den. I had initially called, requiring some information about how to book/reservation and how the process works on dropping off my two pups as I'm at work and traveling a lot and I'm looking for a new daycare facility for convenience. The woman on the phone was very informativeAnd even said if I needed any more help or questions that I can call her at anytime and explained to me the process on how all you need to do is make sure your pets are currently up to date on shots and are good with playing with others. From then on, I ended up getting my dogs shot records updated and applied for a reservation with their records the following day with no hassle. I like that upon arrival, there is a sign upfront that says to call them to notify them for pick up and drop off and to not crowd the waiting area so that way each pet owner has peace of mind and doesn't have to worry about their pets interacting with each other and causing chaos. My dogs have been to the daycare twice already and every time I pick them up they're always happy and exhausted! The moment we get home, they are ready for bed and we've had the best night sleep ever since. I don't really know what they do during the daycare hours, but whatever they do, keep it up! Also, as a plus all you have to do is show up and drop off your dogs. You don't have to do a reservation all the time and it's only for their first day of daycare! I find that to be easier and efficient compared to other daycare that I've interviewed at . I will definitely be bringing my dogs here for very long time. read more

There are many reasons that I give Doggy Den a 5 star review. My list of reasons starts with the facility. It's clean, spacious and very well maintained. Next is the personal. Excellent! Professional and engaging. They pay very close attention to the pups and honestly get to know their personalities and needs. Questions are answered completely and honestly. Last is the price. I have used other area businesses and Doggy Den is absolutely on par with the others and even offers ways to save money by purchasing "bulk" services in advance. I have used Doggy Den for both daycare and boarding services and honestly can say that I know my dog is well cared for and it is proven by the way he pulls to get to the front door as quickly as he leaves the car! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I boarded my dog at Doggy Den over Thanksgiving and the next morning he was hacking up a lung and sicker than he has ever been. After $1,000 plus dollars in vet bills he was diagnosed with pneumonia and is really struggling to recover. This place is dirty and they do not take good care of your dog. Please keep your dog safe and pick a better place to board your pup! read more

TERRIBLE customer service. I came in to inquire about boarding my dog for my daughter's wedding as we are having guests stay at my house. Colleena at the front desk was unbelievably rude and dismissive. All of her answers to my questions deterred me away from using them as a boarding facility. She kept saying they're all booked up for boarding AND tours (even though she didn't even ask me for dates) so clearly they don't want the business. This place has been absolutely life changing for us and our newest rescue. We adopted a 5 month old puppy that had never been socialized before we adopted him. He was terrified of everyone and everything. We reached out to multiple dog daycares and not one was willing to work with Indy...until Doggy Den! Kolina (sp) has been a god send for us. She was willing to take Indy in and work with him and let me tell you, he is a completely different dog! He is so excited to go to daycare every day. We get pictures and videos of him playing with other dogs and to see him so happy and playing with other dogs makes us happy. When we returned I was on my way to picking them up when I was involved in a horrific car accident which required me to be rushed to the hospital with broken ribs and more. There was no way that my wife could have possibly cared for both dogs by herself so Doggy Den stepped in and helped us. The dogs stayed with Doggy Den until I was released from the hospital and had sufficiently recovered, some two weeks later. I had to fly out of state for business on short notice and I did not want to bother asking any of my neighbors to dog sit, since I'm fairly new to the neighborhood. We have been bringing our two 20 month black lab brothers to Ann since they were 10 months old. I don't feel comfortable writing a review until I had some history. We all know that dropping your dogs off to a place unknown can be a little stressful. Ann and the staff are, and have been excellent since day one. We use the daycare service about two days a week on a regular basis (sometime more) and have boarded with them on (4) different occasions ranging from 2 - 4 nights each time. My boys are always excited when we turn into the parking lot and ready for dinner and a snooze when we pick them up. It definitely helps the stress level when on vacation knowing they are in good hands. And when in doubt they staff will send text you some pics to put your mind at easy. We have been bringing our dog petey for about 6 months now to doggy den. He has been boarded there for days at a time in a few occasions as well as going weekly for daycare. After bringing him here we will never take him to another boarding place again. The staff all are super friendly and have grown to love petey. He gets so excited he basically is jumping out the window when we drive up the street to drop him off. The facility is very organized and super clean. We have never had anything but the best treatment for petey. You can tell all of the staff has a lot of experience caring for dogs of all kind of size breed and temperament. We've been bringing our 3 year old rescue to Doggy Den for daycare for about the last 6 months, each time being extremely happy - as is she, getting great socialization (after being a pandemic dog for a couple of years!). My two dogs are well cared for and safe. normally when I leave my house for a short trip to the store (not being gone more than an hour) and return home my dogs are jumping and excited running circles around me but when I pick them up after being boatded they don't act like that..
