I said Yes and he then gave me their quick spiel. From other reviews it looks like 20% off isn't new and has been a thing for a very long time. I didn't find, in general, their prices to be too bad. A few books maybe but they're smack in the middle of the city in a high tent area and their selection of pretty much everything is great, do slightly higher prices are understandable. Highly suggest a visit for current books, back issues, slabs, and I think lots of gaming stuff as well (I didn't pay attention to their non-comic stuff). It was actually fun for me.

(The prices were a little high to begin with so the sale made them more regular). The display comic books had cool identifiers like the first appearance of Hawkeye, for example. They were valued higher because of these specifics. Even those were 20% off today. My husband's only critique was that some of the long boxes were packed too tight such that he would've had to pull out multiple comic books just to be able to search through the box. He says he would've bought more if there were about 15 fewer issues per long box. Come check it out!

My brother got a Tshirt and some socks and my husband bought a book. The staff was helpful. I really enjoyed browsing through the comic books- there is something for everyone. Whether you are a fan of Venom or a fan of Tom and Jerry, you will definitely find something of interest. There are also a bunch of autographed sports jerseys on the walls. You can tell that the owners are extremely passionate about sports and comic books. They have weekly trade nights (check their Instagram for dates). They can also help you to get your comic books graded. I am excited to see what other new merch the store will have. This is also a great place to grab gifts for friends who love sports and comics!

What a special store! When I found mention of The Fairy Store on Yelp, I knew I needed to venture a…read morebit farther down Newbury Street to check it out. I mean a store dedicated to Harry Potter -- come on?!? And what I found wasn't some corporate, merch-filled spot but something that seemed to have grown out of the love the owner has for all things HP. This small shop includes photos and facts about the cast, mixed in with a fun assortment of items. In particular, I liked the Letter from Hogwarts wallet and items related to each of the Hogwarts houses. (This girl is a proud Ravenclaw, in case you were wondering). I ended up buying my kids plastic pens that look like quills. The owner was talking enthusiastically to all who entered, and when I told him that it was my birthday, he said he had something extra special for me and gave me my own, gold laminated train ticket from London to Hogwarts. I was thoroughly charmed by The Fairy Shop, even without the use of spells. ;-) A must-visit for any Harry Potter fans.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the cashiers on the right while the wall in front is lined with new releases and employee recommendations. As you go further in, there's a small café on the left (a couple was having their first date when we walked by. How cute!). There are two floors, but I mainly stayed on the first since the second floor seemed dedicated to children's books. I am a memoir/nonfiction girl, so I went back to that section and was happy to find two whole cases dedicated to the genre. They also have super cute post cards, puzzles, hats, and other knickknacks. I bought a postcard of Beacon Hill to commemorate our vacation! I'm only knocking a star off because there didn't seem to be many books on sale or a decent used section. I did happen to find and buy one book on sale, but it was pure luck because no sign made it clear that discounted books would be sprinkled in. As someone new to the area, I loved the feel of the space and would definitely be a regular if I lived nearby!

The owner (I assume, being the only…read morefemale and worker in the store) was incredibly rude, not greeting us when we walked in, or when we went to the register, did not say thank you, or have a nice day- cashed us out and gave judgmental stares with an uninterested attitude. if I was a real asshole I would've walked back in after leaving to return the items. It costs nothing to be kind. If you are reading this now, maybe read one of the self help books on your displays, and take a cold shower.
