Ordered the pizza and salad combo. The taco pizza was awesome but I ordered the supreme pizza which no longer comes with the olives which it's still on the picture on the menu online but I did not get my sausage that comes standard on the pizza and I ordered extra ingredients on the pizza which I got but only pepperoni on the pizza is less than the supreme pizza I ordered . Got a text message from management alerting me that olives are no longer standard on the supreme but never addressed why I didn't receive my sausage on my pizza. read more

I can understand staffing issues and shortages, but make sure the people who work their WANT to be there and know they are in a service business. Same great menu options, but not the same great experience. This location seemed dirt- could be due to understaffing issue lingering- but it was dirty during our lunch visit. The round table options seem to be completely gone at this location, while others I've visited recently still had the same options in pre packaged containers (pickles, etc). Wow!! Never experienced this at Newk's. The staff at night was not one of my favorite. We were stopping by for a late night dinner around 8:10pm and there were only 4 people in the restaurant including me and husband. I ordered a pizza and this is how it looked. The first one I sent back because it was so awful looking. It looked like it was slapped together with basil, and Roma tomatoes. When I finally got it the waiter had boxed it up and it had maybe 4 chopped up piece of tomatoes and no basil again. read more

My husband and I were in Brandon last evening for a concert. I was so looking forward to my meal since we don't have a Newks in our area but I was greatly disappointed. I ordered the half chicken salad sandwich and cup of chicken tortilla soup. The sandwich has shrunk in size and didn't taste anything like the usual delicious sandwich. No complaints about the soup. I noticed that my husband's chicken pesto sandwich was also smaller than what we were use to getting. It seems to me that if you cut the size of the portion, cut the price accordingly! Slap my mama and call me a fool for never visiting Newks before today. Everything from the service, to the food, to the atmosphere was everything I could ever want. It was like I stepped into a teleportation device and was dropped into Italy's countryside. My pizza was cooked to perfection and the cheese to sauce ratio will make you wish you ordered a second to eat for a midnight snack. Very poor experience! Newks has always been our favorite place to grab a soup/sandwich... until today. The kid at the register was snapchatting while taking our order. When our order arrives, both entrees are incorrect. My salad was not dry tossed and my husband's pick 2 was a half sandwich and bowl of soup, instead of a cup of soup and full sandwich- like he ordered. When returned the manager stated our order was rung in incorrectly, to which he state we could purchase the other half of the sandwich. When I went to order the other half, it was $11.98. Big Apple Inn was very busy and unable to take my call in, but no despair, an old friend, me, and the superhero went to lunch. I suggested Newk's in Brandon. More-so, to make friend jealous and to pay her back. But she had Yiayia's Greek Kitchen so I'm still jelly! I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad with my favorite toppings from the bar. I usually loves Newks, but last couple of times I've been food had not been great. I got the chicken salad cromiss any and it was not good. The bread was so dry and the chicken salad was sparse. There was some twangy white cheese on it and I've never had that on there before. The side was pasta salad and it was literally two tablespoons. They don't have the marinated garlic anymore either. I don't know that I've ever given 5 stars to a sandwich shop, and a chain at at. But when i was in Jackson recently, our work group discovered this gem that made me wish I lived in Jackson. The restaurant space is beautifully decorated, inviting and warm. Like most sandwich shops, orders are made at the counter. But this is no typical sandwich shop. Inspired by New Orleans cooking, the restaurant features outstanding po boys, sandwiches, delicious salads, and exceptional gumbos and soups. And not to be missed -- especially for a southerner like me who has given up sweet tea due to the sugar -- the Splenda Tea is awesome. I also loved the fresh pickle and pepper bar where I enjoyed the sweet pickles that were similar to those my grandmother made when I was young. I particularly was impressed with Newk's because we had a large group, and the gentleman who was the host was so friendly and went out of his way to help us. I usually avoid chains, but Newk's is one of the few that I support. I've been to a few of their locations throughout the Gulf South and find them to be a worthy lunch option. This one is no exception. Very clean, decent service, great salads, soups and sandwiches. I usually go with the Black & Bleu Steak Salad, which is fresh, filling, great tasting and reasonably priced. My daughter and I walked in and were yelled at by who appeared to be the manager, "Over here ladies!" Not in a polite voice either. So we walked over to where she was on the opposite side of the restaurant. The person taking orders asked if it would be dine in or take out? I said dine in. She proceeds to ask me to walk back to the exact place I was standing to begin with when I was yelled at! She then took my order on the side where I was originally standing. The sandwiches are good but seems disproportionate to the price. I had the grilled chicken & it was flavorful. Came with pasta salad that was missing key ingredients like black olives and feta. We also had the Newk's Club & it was flavorful as well. For the price, it would be nice to have more side options like kettle chips etc. I was expecting a bigger selection of soups, and maybe some bakery items and was disappointed. My husband had to get take out for us yesterday as I am currently recovering from surgery. We frequent this place pretty regular and love their fresh salads, sandwiches and soups and pizza. I absolutely love the Spicy Shrimp Pizza and always order it with the cilantro sprinkled over the whole pizza. They usually get this right, but yesterday they left if off altogether. They corrected this after my husband brought it to their attention but he had to wait way too long to get this corrected. Not sure why I have had multiple problems with this request. Once I had a manager tell me that the cilantro was only a garnish and he would have to charge me extra if I wanted it all over the pizza. After inquiring in Newk's had a military discount, the manager started lecturing me on how people would just show any type of ID to get a discount. I had the feeling she was accusing me of a stolen valor incident. I'm okay with someone saying they don't have a discount but am offended by the lecture. I've eaten at Newk's before, but this experience was botched... the food was mediocre. Now granted, I came in around 1 pm after lunch rush. The staff was friendly, but may have been "in the weeds." The actual tables in the dining area were filthy with Parmesan cheese and crumbs. I ordered The Debra. It was a pesto sauce pizza with grilled chicken and roma tomatoes. It was delicious at first bite, yet the shelf life on the actual pizza was maybe 25 minutes. I am a slow eater, plus I had a business meeting with a potential client. So, I didn't eat fast, because we were talking business. I also stepped outside my comfort zone. I usually get a sandwich. I figured I would try something new! Management doesn't seem to be doing well lately at this Newk's. My dinner today was really bad. The food was reheated and the croutons in the soup were stale. I had picked up a chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispie dessert and took one bite to find it was inedible. It was so old, the peanut butter was rancid. When I asked for a refund, the manager obliged, but left the remainder of the terribly old desserts sitting in the basket to be sold to future victims. Come on now, Newk's. They could work on their customer service skills. We like the pizza, avocado and shrimp salad is delicious, and soup and sandwiches are all pretty good. Almost always pretty clean overall. I like that they have outdoor seating too, as not many places around the area have tables outside. read more
