PROS- The place is super clean, bright and plenty of room. They are great for groups, as the tables can be pushed together to accommodate your group size. Kitchen is separated by a window, therefore for you are able to see the food, as its be prepared and the staff preparing those items. It has a nice round condiment bar where you can pick up bread sticks, croutons, parmesan cheese, pickled jalapenos and my favorite spicy pickled pickles. CONS - I arrived around 1:45pm, which was not crowded. As I proceeded to the counter, I had to wait a minute or two for the two cashiers to finish their conversation before I was acknowledged. I was not greeted with a hello or welcome or is this your first time in? They get a zero star for hospitality. Food came out quick, photo attached. As I'm eating, I see one cashier handling money and rolling silverware without proper sanitation, the cross contamination from money to silverware is absolutely discussing. First time to Newk's and my experience was less than pleasant. Cashier wasn't very friendly, which was a bummer as I needed some help navigating the menu. The upside was my order came out correct. Before we continue there let's back up to being handed my cup. Walked over to the drink station and it was disgusting. The unsweetened tea was overflowing onto the counter, wrappers were literally floating from one side of the drink bar to the other and napkins and lids were just laying out not in their intended spot. A disgusting liquid of what I hope was just tea and whatever was spilled was coving nearly ever inch of the counter. Now I had my drink I made my way around the seating area to at least a dozen or more tables that needed to be bussed and cleaned. After finding the least filthy table I sat and waited for my food. While sitting I watched a handful of other folks experience the same service and surprise when arriving at the beverage counter. Needless to say, everyone was getting creative on how to deal with the table situation. Finally my food arrived in a fairly quick manner which I appreciated. My sandwich was okay. The bread was warm and the cheese was melted. The only thing that kept it from being a great sandwich was the excessive amount of mayonnaise and mustard. I ordered a cup of soup (chicken tortilla) and it came out slightly warmer than room temperature. I had to send it back to only receive a second bowl of lukewarm soup. I would caution anyone thinking about eating at Newk's. Objectively, I will give Newk's another try and see if this experience was unique, but I'm not leaving all that happy today. $15 wasted on an okay sandwich and terrible soup. I'm a HUGE fan of Newk's. Literally everything here is delicious. I frequently order one of their salads on line and run in to pick up for lunch. The online ordering system is really easy. You can pick what you want and even customize it plus you pay online too. When you arrive to pick up your order it will be waiting there for you all ready to go. I have never had to wait or even speak to someone when I have made an online order. I also sometimes go to the location for lunch as well. Everything is always fresh and they use fresh ingredients. If I don't get a salad I will sometimes get a half sandwich and soup. I signed up for the rewards program and already received a coupon for a free piece of cake. This is just a great restaurant for fast casual dining. I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area. read more

I left this place so confused as to why this place is 4 stars. It's a huge diner and gets busy but service is fairly quick. Kid friendly restaurant so maybe that's the appeal? The ingredients tasted fresh, the proportions were great, and it tasted like a REAL pizza. You can definitely tell the difference from your chain style pizzas. So my co-workers really talked this place up. And to be honest I'm like it cant be that good. Well.....they for sure proved me wrong. I was sent to get the Newk's Q which hit the spot. I did a soup and sub and this Newk's Q was everything. It has a white bbq sauce and crispy bacon that was a hit. The tortilla soup I had was hot, fresh and so yummy. The inside of Newk's is pretty cool! They have like a fresh mini condiment bar in the middle, and beer and wine for sale at the cash register. You can dine in or sit on the patio. And if you are in a hurry you can order your food to go! It's pretty busy, so expect a little wait. They make your food hot and fresh right when you order, so nothing is sitting. The Newk's Q is the signature sandwich. Its just a pretty simple sub that's extra delicious! And for your healthier, lighter choices there are salads as well! my favorite sandwich place! I used to eat at Newk's a lot back in Austin but it was my first time trying the location in Plano. This place was spacious and staffs were friendly. I had a birthday coupon from them which included a free entree and a drink so it was a really good deal! I got the combo with full size sandwich and a side of soup. I got the pesto chicken sandwich (on wheat bread - tastes like the one from cheesecake factory! my favorite!) and tomato basil soup. I think it's probably more worth getting the combo if you like the shrimp po boy because that sandwich by itself is comparably way more expensive than the others. they give a pretty big portion for the soup so I didn't even finish my sandwich and was full. also, they have different soup options every day. what I also love about Newk's is that you can get as much condiments as you want, ranging from pickes, banana peppers, jalapenos, roasted garlic and so on... they also have packs of breadsticks you can take (snacks). read more

GREAT food, AWFUL management. As this location is close to both home and office, we eat here several times a month, often a couple times a week. Today we ordered through DoorDash for an office lunch, party of five. We requested delivery at noon, and it was delivered at 11:30. While early is certainly better than late, we would've requested 11:30 if we'd been able to eat that early. (Some of that may be on DoorDash, but Newk's shouldn't have let the food go out a full half hour before requested.) By the time we got to eat, the hot soups were cold. We also realized that two orders (both "pick two") were each missing half the order. One was missing the sandwich, and one was missing the soup. I called the store, and the very nice gentleman I spoke to right about noon told me to place a second order through DoorDash as that was the fastest way to get the missing food to us. He also said to call the store back in the afternoon, and they'd refund the entire cost and lunch "would be on us". Very satisfying solution to us as we got the missing food fairly quickly and the store seemed more than willing to make it right. I waited a few hours to call back thinking it would be easier on the store to deal with this when they weren't in the middle of lunch rush. I spoke to Carlos who identified himself as the manager. He was frustrated that I unfortunately did not have the name of the person I spoke to and said he couldn't "just refund money." Although I explained the problem twice, he didn't seem to be listening and kept asking questions that I'd already answered. When I got frustrated, he told me he thought I was being rude. I offered to bring the receipts by the store after work so he could see them, and he said that wouldn't help and needed to know to whom I'd spoken earlier in the day. Since I didn't know the name of the man I'd spoken to (totally my bad - I should've written it down), it seemed Carlos would not be able to help me or honor the promise the store had made earlier. Exasperated, he finally rudely asked if he needed to remake all the food (I'd already explained we'd eaten it already) or refund the money (which I'd asked for at the very beginning of the conversation and twice after that, all based on what the store had told me earlier). He clearly was not listening and was not at all motivated to make the customer happy. He said he'd talk to the people in the store. Since I have no confidence Carlos will follow up, I have already called Newk's corporate. Carlos needs to a) take some classes in customer service, b) get out of the food service industry, c) learn to listen to what is being said, or d) all of the above. His rudeness and complete lack of professionalism is a bad reflection on Newks, and it ensures we'll not patronize Newks going forward. Too bad. This is the closest Newk's to us but still a little far from our house so we only go every so often but each time we go is great & today I decided to leave a review because we went at 1:20 during the lunch rush, we were able to go right up & order, got a Newks Favorite Salad, Newks Q Pizza with a side of Mac n cheese & of course sweet tea - the lady taking the order was very nice. We got our food not too long after we found a table to sit at & a lady brought our food out, she didn't ask if she could get us anything just walked away & seemed like she was training another employee or helping them out idk but she just walked away & I mentioned to my husband I was going to ask her for a side of ranch but since she seemed busy & walked away so fast it was fine. Well one of the male managers just so happen to be clearing off tables to help with the rush & overheard me & finished the table he was on & went to grab ranch & dropped it off for us! It was unexpected & I thanked him for it & he joked that he wasn't trying to easedrop but he heard me & wanted to make sure I enjoyed my meal! Lol! The food and service here is always fresh and timely, no matter what time of day. We typically come here on the Sunday lunch hour after our services. I love their chicken salad and that is what I get the most. Their pizzas are delicious as well as their salads. A new paragraph should be dedicated to the macaroni and cheese. The right ratio of cheese, crunchy and skillet hot presentation makes for one of the best mac and cheeses in town. If this is your first time me here, get this! I really do like this place. The strawberry cake reminds me of my childhood. So delicious. Also, the ice tea is incredibly tasty. Although, I spilled most of it. Cups are not Texas heat & humid friendly. The girls were friendly and the manager was helpful. My only complaints are the date stickers mean nothing to the customers. It's difficult to remember for the staff; so how are we to remember. Also, your prices are pretty high and for the quality that works but let's make sure we get quantity. Don't fill my soup cup half and pile on a bunch of stuff that gets soggy, that i don't want anyway. I want my soup filled to the top, lids have fit on a full cup and bowl for centuries and no one has died from a full to go bowl either. Also, clean your sticky floors and stop making that poor little hostess girl roll up the mats. Was very impressed with this place. Went in today for the first time after passing by a thousand times and was blown away by the quality of the food. This place is pretty similar to Cafe Express in terms of quality, price range, and atmosphere. Ordered the Newk's Q sandwich and it was out of this world. Very flavorful, unique, and the bread was outstanding. Got it with a caesar salad which was also delicious. What really surprised me was how good the sweet tea was here. Not too sweet, and you could actually taste the tea unlike the sugar water most places serve- I'll go on to say the sweet tea was almost as good as McAlisters- and that's saying something. Service was alright, pretty packed here for lunch. I'm going to try their pizza next time I come- I'm glad I finally made the trip here. I feel like it's going to be a regular place for me. I'm very disappointed with Newk's. I went there for lunch today with my husband thinking that I could order a simple sandwich at a deli the way I wanted it made. To my surprise (now empty stomach, time wasted) I could not. I wanted the turkey avocado sandwich on wheat berry bread instead of the French roll it is served on. What I was told by cashier is that I could not substitute. I quickly stepped away from the counter and went to my husband hoping to leave immediately. However he had already order a cup of soup and salad to go. While I stood there waiting with my husband, the cashier came over to tell me he could give me a pre-made cold turkey sandwich and some sliced avocado that I could add to the untoasted sandwich. I am not mad with his effort but I did not drive over to a deli to get a cold sandwich and fix it myself. I cold have made that at home. I don't understand how it is that a deli that prepares sandwiches, pizzas and salads in the kitchen while you wait can not substitute one type of bread for another. If that is not a option then it should be posted on the front door and also on the website which is how I decided to order that sandwich. So disappointed and so very hungry. I know I'll never recommend this place to any of my friends that are eating healthy as it does not cater to those needs and is limited to what a deli should be able to do. read more
