Salesman walks in sees almost new house: 20 years old with original Andersen doors. He knows we have standard size doors and that selling us custom sizes (this is what Renewal says they do) is wrong but he continues. During the sales process, we were told we needed custom-sized French doors and full frame and casing replacement. Then the measuring expert comes and says standard sizes work and we save 7%. They rip out frames and casings anyway and put in new everything including the exact same size doors as we have. Then we find our old doors fit in the new frames. Great way to treat your best customers! Horrible installation too! Doors open on their own, the door frames are visibly out of alignment, there are gaps covered with excessive caulking, and the doors are drafty unless locked. They also rattle when closed. Weatherstripping began failing within days and repairs didn't last. During installation, parts of our wired security system were removed and returned disconnected (the workman said he didn't know what they were!), leaving it non-functional. We were later told we were responsible for removing it, even though no one ever said anything and the contract dosen't mentioned it. We were told the screen doors we would get would be "way more substantial" than the screen doors we had. The new doors were the cheapest they offer and identical to our old ones. We also had personal property damaged during installation: they nailed my wife's raincoat under the casing and didn't even notice! We were sold work we did not need, were told misleading information during the sales process and got substandard workmanship. For the price charged (about $46,000), we expected much better. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very detailed questions before signing anything. If your contract is longer than one page run for cover!

Awful tiling of backsplash. Jason brought Mike and a 20 yr old to retrieve tools. He did not bring…read morea tile cutter (tool). He did not do the work, just directed Mike. He left to go buy a tile cutter and a bucket of thin set. Stated full day price was $1260. They left after 5 hrs and he asked for $1360 stating it was for the supplies! I paid it stupidly. A few days later Mike and the boy returned to finish tiling and grout. I guess he went from tool retriever to tiler/grouter. The grouting was a mess, my brand new quartz had 1/2" grout along the edge, lumps everywhere, thick lines overlapping the tile. Not up to cabinets. Did not finish and said they would be back, and they needed $630 for 1/2 day. I gave them $530 and told them to let Jason know I over paid $100 last time, as I shouldn't pay for his tile cutter that he should have brought to the job. They never returned to finish. I had another tiler come and tell me he's never seen such a terrible job and so overpriced! Beware!

I signed three contracts with him and put half the amount down, a little over $18k. I know now never to put money down on a contract until it's finished but I am new to this and did not know. I had a very scary medical event (I'm a single woman) that caused me to go into the hospital for 14 days. Someone drugged my well without my knowledge, and hacked into my network and got into many of my accounts almost wiping me out. I almost lost my life. All my animals suffered along with me as well. My dog went blind right after and has had kidney issues since. He walked away from the job after and has not been back since. He took advantage of my situation and slandered me to other people tarnishing my name. So now I still have a front door I cannot close and lock and a house still in desperate repair with three projects started and just sitting there and I cannot afford to hire anyone else to finish what he started. It's been more than a year since he walked away. He said he was coming back at one point but then ghosted me after. I guess I'm out a whole lot of money now, and stuck with a house still in need.
