I stopped here for smoothies on a beach day. I got an acai smoothie and a strawberry and mango smoothie. They use apple juice as the base liquid and I'm not a fan of that as you always taste it and it messes with the flavor. And it was a little bit thinner than my preference. And they only have boba straws which are way too big. Otherwise they are decent smoothies. As a liquor store though, they have everything imaginable and a little Beer Cave in the back for cooled drinks. Staff were friendly and drinks were out pretty quickly. Can't believe I've lived here and haven't gone sooner! Walk by this place all the time. They have amazing acai bowls that are super big and super cheap. Any other place will charge you $12 for a small acai bowl but you get 32oz bowl with all of the toppings you really need added by default (topped with banana, blueberries, strawberry, granola, coconut, honey) all for $8. The ladies who work here are very hip and friendly and have not problem striking up a conversation. I ordered a iced coffee for $3 and a lox on a whole wheat bagel. If I remember correctly I think it was around $7. The lox on wheat was great. It was a little non traditional in that it did not come with onions and capers, but it did come with fresh spinach, the smoked salmon, and cream cheese. The smoked salmon was delicious. I just wish they would but just a little bit more of it. The wheat bagel had a very good toast and was moist inside. I liked it very much, The iced coffee was very good too. I liked it smoothness and full bodied flavor. It had no bitterness what so ever. They offer some tables and chairs outside and you can park in the Newport Quick Stop's parking lot if you are visiting the shop. Great little place. read more

Stopped here for a quick and lite breakfast. Ordered a smoothie and an acai bowl. The items ordered were good. However, the female staff that took my order did not have on gloves while preparing my acai bowl, and went back and forth from preparing food to taking orders without hand sanitizer, or anything. Lastly, when I saw her grab my straw with her bare hands I could have literally threw up. It was too early in the morning, so I had no energy to even bring it to her attention. But pure disgusting. The fish tacos weren't the best in the city, but they really got me drooling as the first meal of my day. They have salsa verde and rojo, and both were delicios. They are very generous with the toppings, and do not skimp on the fish. Their acai bowls are TO DIE FOR. Yes, I love me some OB Smoothies acai, but Cafe Bella does acai bowls with better quality, coconut flakes, and nut-free granola! THAT is heaven to my ears. Their acai consistency is the best and it isn't overly sweet. It's legit, and so is their staff. Let's talk about service too. Came here to catch up with a few friends, and we enjoyed such sweet service from the young girl working at the register. She is the friendliest and nicest girl ever, and totally cracked jokes with us even in an early/cold morning on a Sunday. Props to you girl, you deserve all the stars of this review! There isn't seating for your meal, but they have an outdoors bar top area for you finish your purchases. And most people just walk to the beach anyways since the proximity is literally a block away. Every morning since they opened, I have been driving through to grab my tuxedo mocha with caramel sauce. The girls are so amazing, they have it ready before I'm even pulling up to pay. Friendly, fast, and super sweet. Kassie has even taught everyone how I like my drink so I don't even have to try to think in the morning. This helps- I am NOT functional before I'm caffeinated. I *think* I read then used to have a smaller size and did away with it. such a shame because 32 oz is massive and way too much for a person. i ended up sharing with 2 other people who were with me! the cafe portion of this place didnt exist with i reviewed before...it appears to be a welcome addition with lots of great grill options, smoothies, and their famous acai bowl. worthy of a try! read more

A place nearby is also known for acai bowls but they give them to you in tall containers where you end up finishing all the toppings first and then eating the acai. At Newport Quik Stop you are able to mix your toppings better in the bowls they give. Other than the acai bowls, there is a lot of food options. I've had a few off the menu and they weren't terrible but most of the food has that unhealthy, kind of greasy feeling. But obviously, you shouldn't expect gourmet from a liquor store. read more

I was in OB for the Farmer's Market on Wednesday (08-28-2013) and boy was it hot out. I had some time to kill before the Farmer's kicked off and I needed a place to sit down, enjoy some H2O and people watch so of course I stopped at the Newport Quik Stop Market. The Newport Quik Stop Market has all of basic needs. You can food shop here; you can pick up ice cold beverages, wine, hard alcohol, cold beer, play the lottery and even order food yes order food. The Newport Quik Stop Market has a fully service deli in the back of the store and you can order anything from cold sandwiches to hot sandwiches to soup. I picked up a bottle of 'Solar rain' water (review pending). It was nice to see this business supports local businesses like 'Solar rain' and does not try and break the bank when it comes time to charge the consumer. After picking up some food or your basic water needs you can step out the front doors of this establishment and find yourself in an enclosed patio area. The patio area is for customers only. The patio has fans to keep you cool. The best part of the patio area for me is the shoulder high bench seating that faces out towards Newport Ave. As you sit and enjoy your food or beverage you can 'people watch' which is always a lot of fun on Newport Ave and even better on Farmer's Market days. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. The staff that works here was top notch and super friendly. The place was super clean and you know me it always has to smell clean. If a place does not look & smell clean you have problems. If you are visiting the beach and reading this know you can get all of your beach needs here including purchasing body boards for your children. Please also know the locals and surfers depend on you to clean up and make sure all of the items you brought to the beach you take home with you. If you are feeling extra special pick up some of the items others left behind. If you are traveling to this location by car you can park in front and park for 'free' for 2 hours. We come here at least once a week for the Al Pastor burrito. It is a great price, the burrito is HUGE, and it taste better than any other burrito I've ever had. The cashier, Fadi, is hands down the most polite person in the customer service industry. He remembers our order, name, and always has a conversation with us (big plus)! I'd be lying if I said we didn't come for him, too! The place offers more than just burritos, too! The açaí bowls and smoothies are delicious and my boyfriend loves the steak here!
