I noticed these guys the last time I took my kids in for a haircut at the Hair Cuttery next door. Checked them out on Yelp, reviews looked good, so I made a mental note to stop in, as we have been on the lookout for a new dry cleaner. Dropped off a few pieces the other day and they did an excellent job with them. Everything looked and smelled like it was professionally done. Staff was also very friendly and there was tons of parking in the gargantuan Acme parking lot. Five stars from me. Great dry cleaner! read more

Newtown Cleaners has opened a shop in the Village @ Newtown Shopping Center, right next to Acme. The owners are the same as the good people who operated Top Cleaners on South State Street for many years. Minah continues as the face of the business, daughter of the founders, who help out with dry cleaning moving in and out, and tailoring garments with nimble thimble, needle and thread. The old place was far too small for all their customers, and moving to the commercial center while a risk because of the larger nut carried, is also a great opportunity to increase their hold as the best professional cleaners in Newtown. I have been using them to launder my shirts and put cuffs on my pants for close to seven years after trying all the other places in and around town. While not the cheapest, the quality of services is undeniable, and Minah's personality outshines the pleasantries offered by the other store owners. Too, they run occasional specials that bring everything into line and makes them very competitive for the area. While it's hard to get too worked up about dry cleaning establishments, I have the feeling that with the extra space and sitting room, Newtown Cleaners could become a center of hot stove conversations in our community. What can I say other than phenomenal. I brought in a shirt that I sadly spilled some grease on. After multiple attempts and other dry cleaners attempting to clean it, no one could reduce the spot. The shirt has a tremendous amount of sentimental value to me so I decided to give one more place a chance. I had tempered expectations just because of how old the stain was but incredibly, Minah and Newtown Cleaners were able to get it out completely. I brought my daughter's 2 piece dance costume in for alterations. The tailoring team sewed fringe onto the costume shorts and assessed the necessary sizing adjustments for the top. They gave us honest feedback that the extensive alterations could not be done without jeopardizing the strength and durability of the material. Since the costume needed to withstand multiple performances with a lot of movements, we then switched to a different top and they helped us to adjust that one instead. From the beginning, I felt that Minah and her sister were partners in helping us to work through the situation. They are very professional and friendly. read more

I've only been in twice but she remembers everything I told her. She knew I had an important work event coming up that I needed the garment altered for. She checked it and found a spot that needed extra attention and called me to ask if they could work harder on the spot to get it out and take another business day. She is awesome!
