These units have gates that are open to the public all week! Jessica ( the supposed manager) told me I didn't get an itemized bill every month because I had a lease and the lease states the money is due at a certain time every month so legally she didn't have to inform me of when the bill was due. Within 3 minutes of her stating that, she said "we have no lease with you" therefore we can not allow you access to the unit you have been paying on for 6 years. Approximately $5400 that they have taken from me. So IF you have no lease with me, then why wasn't I notified long before now???? Marcy was given every document she needed when we found out my husband was terminally ill 6 years ago. And she claims that she does not know who Marcy is. Really??? I keep getting phone calls to this very day from Marcy from this company! More games on their end. Very very rude young lady. And I am sending the pictures I took of the open gates on 2 separate days out as well to let the public know there stuff is not secure. I also am putting in a complaint in with OSHA for a few of the workers and Jessica herself walking besides a working crane with sewer pipe hanging and having no vest and no hard hats on. Congrats on scamming us hard working people that have been your clients for over 15 years. Run and find another storage facility! These people are NOT to be trusted! read more

I stopped in today to look at storage for my business. I was met with an older gentleman (sorry didn't get a name) who showed us a model of a unit. There was tape on the floor that "mapped out" sizes of units. He stood on the first tape and said "this is a 10x10". I've worked with storage units before and I knew their measurements were off. So I asked for a tape measure and after measuring the taped out 10x10, they were shorting people about 14". It barely came to 9ft. When I asked the gentleman about it he seemed to brush it off. I even said, as we were leaving "you should get someone to change that tape" and he responded "ya, I guess." I also asked to see the units and where the elevator and entrance was. The gentleman said "well they all look like this (the model)" to which I further said "yes I know that. I want to know where in the building the units are located." He seemed put off by that, but still took me around. While the place was clean, the entrance to the secured building was not enclosed, and the carts they offer couldn't hold more than 2 boxes. I'm giving this place 2 stars for cleanliness and overall look, but truthfully, I didn't rent from them because of the gentleman who helped me. I was clearly bothering him by being there. read more

I worked with Jack at the Plainfield location. Jack was the best ever. I rented three units. All were clean and well maintained. Jack was easy to work with and understood my needs for storage in between moving from one house to another. Getting the paperwork done was a breeze and setting up the entrance code was easy too. I highly recommend this place and would definitely use them again! This was my first time using self storage and have to say Jack made it very easy for me. Thank you for all your great help. I had previously posted about how the elevator was unavailable when I moved into my third floor storage unit. Next Door Storage informed me that there was a power outage and they didn't know it had effected the elevator. So their elevators are available on the weekend. However, be aware that they do not have an emergency line, so if this or something else happens again, you are on your own. They did end up compensating me with a free month. read more

Needed a storage unit and needed it pretty soon. Turned out, the door jammed and had to be fixed before I could rent it, so I had to stall for a couple days but they got it working. Jessica, Tom, Mary Beth, and someone else whose name I don't recall were all very professional, responsive and accommodative through the process. Exceeded my expectations for: cleanliness, accessibility, and customer service. Like all facilities, the price did creep over time ($10/mo increase in the one-year period that I was there), however the unit was in brand-new condition, and overall competitively priced for an indoor temp-controlled facility. Their customer service was the best part of the experience; easy to contract, very responsive and most of all: they promptly issued me a full refund when I overpayed my rent after terminating my agreement - thank you Jessica! I wonder how many other companies would care so much?? If you're in the market for a storage unit in the area, please do yourself a favor and check them out. read more

I don't know why there are bad reviews. The person at the office was very helpful and the inside units are very clean...like brand new. Using the back door and freight elevator makes everything easily accessible. read more

The storage unit is clean and dry. The rent charged is okay. One of the attendants that writes up the paperwork seems very grumpy at first but gets better as time goes on. Some people may take offense at the attitude. read more

You get what you pay for......getting paperwork done at the Algonquin location was a pain since she thought I was someone entirely different for the first 30 minutes. Add another long painfully slow 30 minutes and I finally got out of there. (So much for signing up online.) I was given the wrong code to get in. THANK GOD another customer was there later on when I came back and he let me in, otherwise I would have been screwed since it was after hours. Late fees are RIDICULOUS, and it's supposed to be my problem that their online system was not working. I did not get my email reminder and I could not pay online for several days, and I was penalized for that. I am pulling my stuff out of there. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Wrote a letter to the company.....did not hear back....big surprise. Oh yeah my unit was nasty too. Cobwebs and spiders galore. Steer clear. Plenty of other great storage places around that will treat you better. read more

This place is the worst. Ordered a unit through uhaul and opon arriving at the place they said I had no unit waiting for me. Finally dealt with all the bs and they gave me a code that didnt open the gate, so I was sitting at the gate with a uhaul full of stuff and nowhere to go, had to come back the next day and pay for an additional uhaul truck rental change. And as a cherry on top, when I went to pick my stuff up after 6 months half my furnature had mold on it. THICK MOLD. It was disgusting and they coulnt care less about it. Thanks for nothing Next Door Self Storage, your company is horrible. read more
