My husband and I have taken our cars here for everything: emissions, oil changes, CV axles and boots, a fuel pump, a suspension issue that turned out to actually be a broken trailing arm (which another shop totally missed AND over-quoted me for), AC, and probably more that I'm forgetting. NEVER USE MIKE OR NEXT GEN. He has been CAUGHT red handed scamming my insurance company, and has cost my family and I OVER 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS in damages on ONE vehicle alone!! We are STILL in the process if discovering all Mike has scammed us on because we made the mistake of trusting him with our 3 vehicles. Mike had us as loyal customers for years even AFTER we caught him in a lie... and how much he took advantage of us is SHOCKING-everyone needs to steer clear of this crook and his ring of shop crooks he is working with. We started going to Mike out of convenience as the shop was within walking distance of work. All we needed was our new headlights wired in and right after bringing the truck in it started having ALL kinds of issues it never had including overheating. Now I am starting to think that this is not a coincidence. He WILL rob your insurance! I picked my truck up after an accident and it didn't even make it out of the parking lot. The brake shroud was smashed into rotor (still) that I was charged for to be replaced but yet it wasn't. If he did the "test drives" he had been charging us for he would have known that the rotor he charged me for should have ended up on the truck but it didn't. When Mike was confronted, he told me to name my price to keep me quiet because he KNOWS he is a crook. He falsifies documents and has no problem lying to your face. He also will report these repairs he does not do to CARFAX. This affects the HISTORY and VALUE of your vehicle!! BEWARE. We paid OVER 8 thousand dollars to have a head gasket and a ton of other engine work done on our truck. The overheating issue was never fixed and after being nickel and dimed more by Mike at Next Gen...we took it elsewhere just to find out none of the work we originally paid for was ever even done. As a result, the motor is blown up. 8k worth of work paid for and not done, 16500 as of now (to start) to replace the damage. This doesn't even cover the repeated charges to diagnose the original problem over and over again or other related costs associated with the loss of this truck. This has been devastating to us financially and to our ranch. Next Gen/Mike's response to the photos and the complaint is that they are just an example of the new shop trying to scam me and we should get back in touch with him so he can explain. Oh yes, and how hurt he is because he thought we were friends and I should be worried about a defamation suit. Another example of his manipulation tactics. As a woman who owned an auto repair shop many years ago I too have seen hundreds of heads and gaskets. His claim of we wouldn't know what we are looking at because we are not mechanics is laughable. I am the one who took the pictures and I was there when the head came off, there is NO way a brand new head gasket would be rusted and welded to the pitted, cracked, rusted block if it was just in fact replaced. It is of utmost importance we spread the word to everyone about our experience with Mike and Next Gen to save as many as we can from this individual and the heartache he caused. read more

Be weary of high costs to simply diagnose your vehicle WITHOUT TELLING YOU! Horrible experience. Not the first mechanic to embellish the hours spent fixing a vehicle. I dropped my truck off and asked that they please call before any major work is done or once they know the issue. I had to call them to find out my bill was already $220. When I called 30 minutes later they jumped it to $370. When I arrived the incredibly unprofessional owner demanded a cash payment only. (Probably because he receives a lot of charge backs for excessive diagnostic cost) They changed a relay and a fuse, and corrected a ground wire. I am a business owner, I understand it costs what it costs, but I always inform my customers what the cost will be per hour before I go to work. No surprises. Steer clear of this joke of a business. read more

In this day and age finding honest and caring truthful mechanics is probably more stressful especially when we all are trying to take care of our families and just life in general. And in Arizona, a car is almost as important as water. Get stuck out here and have to use public transportation out here it's terrible. But having someone tell you the truth and do honest work and actually really caring in this kind of industry is very important. That's why you go by word of mouth and people have someone they have been going to for years. Because you can't just go to "anybody" because anybody is probably going to try to get the most they can out of your situation as they can, because odds are your not coming back there and the honesty factor is a big gamble and in a lot of situations with your car it's 90% chance it's an emergency and it needs to be fixed right away and most mechanics know that and you can be taken advantage of at that moment because you are in desperate a do or die situation and many times your job and family are counting on that car to us all afloat. Mike, Rick, and Ashley in probably my most horrible time actually restored my faith in too many things that I had lost faith in..If you really need that old school mechanic or shop and staff of yesterday that you could also consider a "FRIEND" This is where you "NEED" to take your car and your peace of mind and know the work is going to absolutely be done correctly and also leaving you in peace that you are not being taken advantage of as I explained earlier. Even if you are on the westside, southside, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler Even where I am from in Pinetop-Lakeside this is where you have to at least give a try if you need to find that shop you can always count on and know you don't have to sit there on your phone frantically searching in that time of desperation and know you can bring your most important tool in Arizona, your car! I even spoke with other customers and they reiterated what I found out in my one time experience. Sorry, this is long but when you find something people in our community like this it needs to be praised and given a big shout out as loud as I can. Brought my car in for a dead alternator and without additional charge they also fixed my A/C (that I didnt know needed fixing but it blew cooler air after). Came back to get my car checked before a one-way move to the east coast, had a bad radiator, needed a new belt, and had bad shock absorption on my tires. They showed me everything and explained what was most important to fix before my trip and what i could get away with fixing after the trip. My bill came without a service fee! Had a coolant leak pop up out of nowhere yesterday and called ahead and asked if they could take a look at it. Ashley was super nice on the phone and told me that she would let Mike know ahead of time I was stopping by. When I arrived Mike was quick, courteous and brought me back to show me the issue. Seeing as though it was a defective part from the manufacturer, Mike dropped what he was doing and gave me a temporary fix so I could continue to drive until the replacement part gets sent to me. I recently had my truck at the dealership because the check engine light came on. Of course it was 3000 miles after my 100K warranty expired. They told me I needed a new NOx sensor and to replace the thermostats, among other things. I took it to Next Generation for a second opinion, because I had had them replace a fuel pump in a VW Touareg, and was happy with the work they did on it. Mike (owner of Next Gen) suggested replacing the thermostats first because they were throwing off the truck's computer. When the truck was re-diagnosed, it turned to be a different sensor that was the problem. Definitely saved me some money. Mike seems like a very intelligent, honest mechanic.
