Covid review. It's crazy to think I've been getting my eyebrows threaded here for years longer than I've known my bf, most of my friends, longer than the time I spent in school. And they always come out great for my face. Not too arched, not too thin, just right. Recently they started taking venmo, but I think they are still taking cash/cc. Parking is usually ok on the street. There is a parking lot behind the store but to be honest in the like 8-10 years they've been at this location I think I've used the lot maybe 5 times since most of the spots are usually taken (and can be difficult to navigate). Easier to just park on the street since I'm usually in and out of there in 20 minutes tops. read more

This is my go to place for full body waxing for a few years now, I've tried other places around the Westside in between just to experiment Verdict : every place is more expensive then Hair in Shape yet not nearly as good. Farida makes me feel so comfortable and most importantly her cloths are the SOFTEST and least amount of pain!! from any of the other more expensive places I went to nearby. She's very thorough and prideful in her work, also very sweet, and loves giving beauty advice. Farida also uses the best skincare and products for before and after waxing which is great for my sensitive skin! Farrah is her daughter and always pick up the phone and I can get an appt for same or next day. So reliable and makes my life easier. Super grateful! read more

Dear potential clients, Pleaaaaase read this! I ask and beg of you not to do your hair at this salon. I made the appointment for 4/12/18 with them after noticing the 4 1/2 stars, then realizing a little too late, the ratings were mostly for threading and waxing. I found them on Groupon. My hair is nothing like I asked. The woman who did my hair said she could give me the same exact hair I was showing her on a picture sample. I even asked her if she was sure a couple of times. My hair has always been long and healthy, but now the damage is sooo bad, it continues to break. She left the bleach on my hair and went to another client to dye her hair. The bleach was left for over 30 minutes. I called her while she was with the other client to check on my hair because I was worried, and she said it needed more time. When washed my hair and started to comb it, the hair was breaking but she insisted it was ok. At the end, She wanted to charge me $190. I had to pay $160 because they were keeping me hostage and not letting me go because I refuse to pay that ridiculous amount of money. I'm taking my time to report them to Groupon for false advertisement. They should not be advertising themselves as a hair dressing salon. The lady does not know how to do hair. It's too bad I couldn't upload the video I recorded of my hair. Anyways, I am looking to take further action against this salon and hope to follow up on this review. I've visited this place twice to get my eyebrows threaded both during Covid, most recently on 9/26/20. The young woman who works there has done an amazing job on my brows. I am trying to grow my brows out so I've told her that and she's careful to only clean up what's necessary. Love how my brows look after coming here. Both times I've messaged the owner on yelp to make an appointment and her response has been prompt, within minutes. I've also haven't had to wait once I arrive. They wear masks and sanitize everything. You can pay via cash, Venmo or Zelle. There's plenty of street parking and a lot in the back. This is my new brow place. read more

I came here based on the high ratings, but should have read some of the reviews first. I didn't schedule an appointment, but it was early and a weekday so i was seated right away. I've had tons of face threadings before, but I have to say this was the MOST PAINFUL threading I've ever had! It felt like she was using mini saws against my face. My person was Aeshi. I asked her to leave my baby hairs. Apparently she thought it was a suggestion, as she started pulling hairs that have remained on my face since a child. I winced, made facial expressions, and repeated "I WANT TO KEEP THOSE". She asked for a mirror so I could clarify what I wanted to keep. "OH, KEEP the hairline". NEXT UP... she sawed my face more. She wasn't caring and tried to move my face to her convenience. Not gentle, just a painful process. Did, I mention I had a full face threading. I should have stopped, but I figured it had to get better with less/no hair. Eventually she stopped and asked if it was Okay. I didn't care. I wanted done. First time and last time (or specifically with her). Aside from the burning, I had little scrapes and tons of bumps. It was crazy! Not recommended. I'll go back to my regular people. read more

Your search for the cheapest and best threading place is over. I've been coming here for a year and a half now and am in love! I'm from Hawaii and we don't have that many threading places back at home. I usually pay $15-20 for a 10 minute threading appointment. When I came to LA, I was so lucky to have found this shop near my place and for such a good price. They play Bollywood music videos which creates a fun vibe in the shop while you're waiting. Parking is located on the street. I've parked behind the shops before, but last time got blocked in by a lady who told us that it was her stall. I guess those aren't for guests of the shops because she was pretty annoyed that we parked there. If you go on a weekday or not as busy time, you could probably find parking right by the door. If not I've parked around the corner in the back and walked. Threading is $7 or $6 with a yelp check in! There is usually one lady who always does my brows - I haven't gotten her name but I think she's the owner. The shop is really small with two chairs. They also have haircut, waxing, and eyelash extension services. They take appointments but I usually just walk in. I've waited 5-10 minutes at most. Ever since I've started going, I never have to tell the owner what to do or how to shape my brows. I usually go for a clean up and she does it exactly how I want it! Such a great bang for your buck. If you're ever in the area (or even if you're not) it's totally worth it to come down! read more

The worst service ever . Don't ever go here for hair services. I got my hair ruined because of the Keratin treatment here . Honestly, they don't know what they are doing. It looked the lady who did my keratin had diluted the product as it was so runny and dripping ! My hair was so dry and frizzy just after the first wash . Went back to show them the results and they kept arguing with lies after lies . Such a waste of time and money. Disappointing! Apart from that these ladies are unprofessional and inattentive. This place is really small and located on Washington Blvd near Costco... at least that's how I identify it! There's usually 2-3 ladies working here at a time. It's a little cramped and little dive-y, but I don't mind it. It definitely does not have a spa-like ambiance, so I wouldn't recommend it if that's what you're looking for. I've only been here for the threading, but I always get my brows and lip threaded. It's $10 for both, so with tip, it's only ~$12! That's a great deal, especially given that they take credit card (including tips), and your 7th threading is free! Be sure to pick up a stamp card. read more

I recently moved from Long Beach to El Segundo and was on the quest for a new eyebrow person. Being Indian and having thick eyebrows, I have realized they require a lot of maintenance and without going to a reliable person, you can come out looking ridiculous, perpetually surprised, maimed, or like you accidentally ran a razor over a piece of your face (or all of the above). I saw the positive reviews and decided to give Hair in Shape a try. This place is VERY easy to miss. I had to circle a couple times to find it and ended up parking on one of the more residential streets behind it versus trying to find a spot on Washington. I didn't see a private parking lot but may have missed it. The place is very small and definitely not ideal if you're looking for a more spa type experience. It was fine for my needs--just an eyebrow threading. There was a woman sitting behind a reception desk and then Farida (I'm guessing based on reviews) was doing the actual threading. There was also a gentleman sitting on a stool in the corner that wasn't a customer but I'm not really sure what his job was. i didn't have an appointment but she was able to get to me fairly quickly. There wasn't much of a greeting or any sort of pleasantry--strictly business. I was a bit nervous because she was pretty rough--what I mean when I say that is that she was really rough in positioning my hands to hold my eyebrows in the way she wanted. I've gotten my eyebrows done probably dozens if not 100+ times over the years, but apparently my method of holding was not up to her standards and her frustration showed. That can be a little nerve-wracking when you're sitting there and there's someone who seems annoyed at you hacking away at your eyebrows. With that said, I came away really happy with the results. It was quick and a little more painful than I'm used to-but my eyebrows do look good. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come back here again, but if you live nearby or something, it could be a good option. For me though, my search for my new eyebrow spot continues. read more

I tried this place because it was cheap. $6 with a Yelp Check In. Ive only had threading done once before. To my surprise, this hurt a lot. When it was done the shape was fine. But it was still burning and hurting. About 30 min later I looked again and see she actually threaded off some of my skin . I first noticed this business as we drove by last weekend, the $6 eyebrow threading sign on the window really got my attention! I walked here on a weekday, so I don't have any parking advice. I would recommend looking for the Dunkin Donuts at 13300 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90066. Dunkin is right near Hair in Shape, so it's a good landmark to look for when trying to park since you can easily miss the sign for this business. I have a super light complexion (primarily Irish/German/Swedish mix), so I only need my brows done every 6 weeks. I went in today, my last waxing had been 2/25. The ladies that helped me were pleasant. I think the threading turned out great. I paid $10 total for brow and lip waxing, I think this is a fair price. I will definitely be back! read more

I never ever touched my brows or let anyone touch my brows. I started to get my eyebrows threaded by Farida. I have always gone to her and shes so nice. I love talking to her. Before going to Farida. I went to brow mantra once and only once and they were nice but they are very harsh on my brows. They ruined my eyebrows and they told me to grow. I dont know how long its gonna take me to grow them. Plus, they even charged me like okay! Cool ruin it and charge me too. Farida was so nice and gentle with my eyebrow. She heard me very well and understood me. Her prices are awesome too. The lady that did the waxing for me didn't do a good job at all! She burnt me on multiple places, left hair on a bunch of spots on my legs and other parts. It looked like she was in a hurry the whole time and didn't take the time to see if all the hair was removed. I told her it was my first time getting done and she made no effort to make me comfortable. And at the end she left wax leftover all over my body instead of cleaning it with oil. It took me two days to take it off!! I don't recommend it for anyone and I will never go back! read more

Great price, very fast. I was in and out in 25min (pre-paid online). I booked an appointment to get a cut and styling with a Groupon (which included shampoo blow drying, AND Styling). They said it would take 45 min to get it all done, which sounded impressive. I showed up with my (short) hair freshly washed and mostly dried so the cut and styling was the only thing they did, and I was out of there in 25min! I was very happy! The only reason why they lost a star is the facility wasn't as clean as it could have been. But otherwise, it was a great experience at a very reasonable price and very fast. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I called yesterday to make an appointment for Saturday. The lady on the phone told me they open at 10 even though their yelp page says 9:30. So today (Saturday) I get there at 10:15 and no one was there and doors are locked! The door hours say they open at 9!!! So I call them and tell them why isn't anyone here and the lady tells me they don't open until 10:30! How can they schedule me for an appointment at 10 if they don't open until 10:30??? I had to be somewhere by 12 so I couldn't wait until 10:30 for them to open so I left. I usually go to Namita in Santa Monica. I suggest you all go there! Only reason I didn't go was because Namita didn't have available appointments until 11. I'm so mad that I drove there for nothing. Lady didn't even apologize for her staff not knowing their business hours. All she said was that they were under construction. I will never go here again after coming here all the time before I found Namita. This place is unprofessional and can't just decide to open a business whenever they feel like it. Also someone reviewed them back in 2017 with the same issue and business manager said they were in the process of fixing their door times!! It's been 2 years and you still haven't fixed it???????? read more

Couple of suggestions: Wear surgical face masks. It feels weird when I get a gust of wind in my face every time you breathe through your nose. I can also smell the lunch on your breath and it's not a pleasant or sanitary experience. It's gross! Your pinky knuckles dig into my eyelids and it hurts. And sometimes the end of your string will lay across my eyelids and it pinches and pulls at my eyelashes. Please pay closer attention and be delicate with your customers. The last thing you want is a lawsuit for eye injuries or get someone sick. read more

My truth and honest opinion this place sucks, I came with a $31 Groupon deal and the lady said no problem well... BS she ended up charging me $48 now when you come inside the place is NASTY I really needed the hair cut so I had to suck it in. To wash your hair they take you to the back in a closet full of junk, they don't have hair towels so you will be dripping in water after they wash you but that's not the worst part. The lady she is ok she left me sitting down with my hair wet for about 30 minutes while she did other people she overbook herself without thinking about the clients. And there I was waiting in the "salon area" is just a chat in the middle of a hoarder mess I'm not sure why the health department hasn't close this place it wa pure nasty. Check the pictures and see for yourself the mess and nastiness this place is full of dust. Then she got mad cause I told her I didnt like my haircut and called her daughter if I don't care who it was bu the daughter tried to fix my hair. First Farida is excellent on all threading as is the other woman who does threading!However today, upon Farida's recommendation, I tried her other associate for styling my hair. Huge mistake!! I asked for beachy waves and got a Dolly Parton 60's hair style. Could not even calm it down after serum and damping it down. Huge waste of time and money!!! I get my haircut, coloring, brows and kids hair done here for about a year. I am happy with the -results -how accommodating they are. I usually go late in weekdays after work and they never turned me back. I had to take my kids a few times, too. - they listen & take feedback. Giving the pace two starts because she did an ok job but when I showed up I could hear her talking about me. I've never been here I called to see if I needed an appointment and she said no I was 5 minutes away per my Gps, when I walked in she was yelling some other customer about me calling and saying I was 5 minutes away and I wasn't on time. When she saw me all she said was "oh" not even I'm sorry! Her name was arshi or something like that. Do Not Come Here. I came here for threading & waxing my eyebrows/upper lip. I was left with a serious bacterial infection in the areas attended to and over $200 in medical bills/over a month of my life ruined. I have been to countless different threading and waxing places over the past 10 years and NEVER has something like this ever happened. I called the woman and texted her photos of how bad it was but they did nothing and insisted it wasn't their fault.
