I just want to start off by saying that Joel and his assistant did an excellent job DJ'ing and emcee'ing our wedding! He was very responsive and accommodating when we were discussing the services we needed. Despite having difficulty reaching him at times, overall the communication went smoothly throughout the planning process. Joel provides his own equipment which is definitely a plus and on the day of, everything was set up perfectly. However, we had a little bit of microphone troubles during the ceremony where the lapel microphone wasn't working and the handheld mic was cutting in and out at times. Joel did an excellent job emcee'ing the reception the entire night and everything went smoothly. The energy and excitement that Joel brought out from our guests was awesome! He even gave us the option to show the Warriors game on the projection screen for a bit! Couple things, I must note that even though we purchased a custom GOBO light it was overlooked and was not provided. Also, if you provide your own playlist of songs make sure to communicate clearly if you only want those songs to be played as other songs with similar BPMs will be mixed in. We provided a playlist and said we were open to his opinion and without hearing anything back from him, other songs were played at our wedding. Highly recommend booking Joel for any event! Just let him know what type/genre of music to play and he'll take care of the rest. He's an awesome MC as well, really keeps the crowd entertained! At my cousin's baby shower, he was always prepared to play the right songs at the right times. When there were only 3-4 yr olds on the dance floor, he put on some Disney songs to keep them dancing and singing. When the older crowd joined in, he played songs we were all able to dance along to (from "cha cha slide" to "juju on that beat" lol). He even played songs that were relevant to the baby shower games we played ("Make Up Bag" during the What's in Your Purse? game). Overall Joel is a really awesome DJ who won't disappoint. A bit late on this review, but Joel was the DJ & MC for my wedding on 12/7/19. He was phenomenal and catered to everyone in there when it came down to the music (Very great with the music since me and my wife had family, friends, and guests from different backgrounds, ages, and styles) and just getting everyone involved with dancing and pumped up. Joel also helped us with a few things regarding our timeline for the wedding and if things didn't go as planned (which is expected) Joel stepped in and helped us make sure our bridal party, guests, and everyone had everything they need and made sure that . Since the venue reception we were at unfortunately was late on setting up the cash bar and appetizers for the guests that were waiting to be seated, Joel was really helpful in telling us about it (Which we had no idea of) and he suggested a few things and smoothed everything out. Booked Joel for my cousin's wedding last November and I must say he was a great choice. Joel was very easy to work with especially since he had to travel down to San Diego for this wedding. He provided his own equipment and everything worked out great. The reception was a bit complicated because Joel had to share time with the live band with language barriers but he made it work and was able to have to crowd dancing all night. This review is for DJ JOEL/Strive: I have seen my share of DJs, especially at weddings. Joel from start to finish ensures your event is tailored to you. He doesn't just go out there and play music he likes (which is a more common problem with DJs than you think). He makes sure his events are catered to the host and their guests.
