I recommend Sunlight Electrical Solutions…read more My home solar/battery system was having intermittent issues. The company that installed my solar had gone out of business. The owner of that business recommended Sunlight Electrical to fix my system. I spoke with Carlos at Sunlight. He sent out Isaac who seemed very capable. Isaac's assessment was that my system had multiple wiring issues and recommended a service that would require a larger team to complete. He explained why, and I concurred with Isaac's recommendation. Carlos scheduled a larger team to come out the next week. They were led by Jesus, who also seemed quite knowledgeable. Jesus and his team worked diligently for 4 hours. They found more wiring errors as Isaac has predicted. And they found a damaged Tesla MC2 unit on the roof which had cracked. After they completed their repairs, the system started operating better than it ever had before. I estimate that I am now getting an extra 10-15% more power from the solar panels. In addition to providing capable technicians, I really appreciate that Sunlight is so easy to work with. I asked several highly technical questions and always got thoughtful answers. If you want something done a specific way, just ask them. They have such a positive, customer oriented attitude that makes them a pleasure to deal with.

I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. There was more than enough room to either move the bed properly, ask if a ladder was available, or simply arrive with the correct equipment in the first place. Using a customer's bed as a tool was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. As for the restroom situation, there is proof of your technician entering and exiting the restroom, and immediately afterward urine was left on the toilet seat and bathroom floor. That mess was not there beforehand. Calling it an "allegation" instead of addressing the concern respectfully is disappointing. I shared my honest experience as a customer. Professionalism is not just about completing a job it's also about respecting someone's home, cleanliness, and basic courtesy while inside it.

That's when I started calling around for help. Most places I called were quick to ask what was wrong and immediately quote me a fee just to come out. I was considering one of them until I spoke with Meigs. He was awesome. He told me he offers free quotes over the phone, but he didn't just give me a quote. He actually tried to help me troubleshoot the issue right then and there. He spent about 10 minutes on the phone with me, calmly walking me through step-by-step instructions. He suggested there might be another GFCI hidden somewhere else in the house or even in the garage. The garage hadn't even crossed my mind, but it made sense since the restrooms are closer to that side of the house. Since we don't live at the property, I wasn't there at the time to test it. I told him we'd try it when we were back there later in the week. I must've sounded a little flustered because he kindly said, "When you get there, call me if you need me," offering to walk me through everything again if necessary. Sure enough, when we checked the garage, there it was, a GFCI outlet we hadn't noticed before. We reset it, and everything worked like a charm. There was power again in the restrooms downstairs. Thanks to Meigs, he saved me at least $350 of the visit and solved the issue in 10 minutes over the phone. I reached out months ago on the recommendation of a co-worker. I asked about solar cleaning and gutters. Their quote was very reasonable, especially given that it is a second story home with gutters that had NEVER been cleaned in the last decade at least. And same for the solar. A family emergency came up and I didn't move forward at that time. Fast forward 4 or 5 months and I reached out again. He responded right away and confirmed the details, honored the original quote (which impressed me as costs EVERYWHERE have gone up), and was able to schedule for a very convenient time without any difficulty. He also asked if there were any other services I was needing, which is when I discovered they do window cleaning, window and door screens and dryer vent cleaning as well! I did ask for them to quote me for a sliding screen door replacement, which was another great value, given the upgrades for the heavy duty screening and preferred color. And then the crew showed up...right on time, ready to go, and absolutely delightful people, every single one! It was a crew of 4. They got to work immediately and were thorough, cautious and hard-working. While they were working, I asked the crew leader about a quote for two window screens. Such a good deal that I said yes and they cleaned and rescreened as well as installed them on site as the other work was being done! And they did the final measurements for the sliding door to be made. They also asked if I wanted them to check the dryer vent and did so with no obligation for cleaning. I am sure I have literally never had the dryer vent cleaned in the almost 20 years I have lived here. So it was SOOOOOOOO full and needing to be cleaned badly. With another very reasonable price, I had them go for it! And it was done in no time at all. They did ALL this work (20 solar panels cleaned, gutters that literally had whole plants growing out of them completely cleaned and flushed, 2 windows re-screened, new door measurements taken and dryer vent cleaned), with the kindest, most non-judgemental, professional attitude. And they did it in UNDER 2 HOURS as a team! If you have a chance to use them, I would highly encourage you to. They truly care about their customers and about doing the absolute best job they can, and they make it affordable, too!

I am getting a bit tired of writing five-star reviews for Five Star! LOL I have lost count often…read morehow many times I've used them. Yesterday it was for window washing (1st time) and power washing (2nd time). Fast and good work as always! Donnie always gives me a fair price and was willing to work with me when bundling services. No, he's not the cheapest, but 1) you get what you pay for, and 2) he gets it done ASAP--I called another company before just for a comparison quote, and they said it would be two weeks before they could do it--Five Star came in under two days! I would deduct a quarter star only because they forgot to mention they accidentally broke one of the outer window trims on a garage window --it was very brittle from facing the dry afternoon sun for 20 years, so I completely understand; just wish they had mentioned it. I added that quarter star back because upon arrival, Jerry the foreman pointed out that one of the front screens was busted from age/sun and offered to replace it for a great price--important when selling a house! For many years, I have used Five Star for gutter cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, screen replacement, outdoor window cleaning and power washing--and they're just as good as ever. Thanks!

We bought a residential rooftop photovoltaic solar system for our home in Dublin from Next Energy in early November 2009 after researching five solar installers (and a total of ten different systems of various sizes) in detail. Next Energy was willing to "walk the roof" of our home "up front" and do a site evaluation without any commitment on our part, something other installers were not inclined/willing to do, and also was willing to perform multiple numerical analyses of the predicted performance of various system sizes on our particular roof using different brands of solar panels. Installation started a few days after we signed our contract, took two days, and went very smoothly. The permitting/inspection process was relatively easy and was entirely handled by Next Energy (Dublin was a better city than most re permits/inspections). A few days after our system was in place, PG&E's original installation of our solar-style electric meter (E-6 Tariff) was complete (A replacement solar-style smart meter on the E-6 tariff was installed in March 2013 by PG&E). Since going live in November 2009, our system (4.871 Kw CEC rated system with 9 south-facing and 18 west-facing Sunpower 210 panels [Our roof was area-limited on the South, but not on the West]) has produced 6.25% more KwH than Next Energy's somewhat conservative up-front estimate through the end of March 2013 (28,378 KwH actual production versus 26,708 KwH estimated per spec). Next Energy worked carefully with us on the arrangement of the individual rooftop panels to maximize the annual solar energy output produced by our three arrays (one south-facing array of nine panels and two west-facing arrays of nine panels). Our Next Energy installation contract included a Sunpower wireless monitoring system tied to our home PC/LAN that provides all the solar statistical and performance data we need and has proven to be very reliable. Our residential rooftop photovoltaic system has not needed any maintenance or repairs whatsoever since it was installed (unless you count a once-a-year rinsing of dust from our panels from the ground with a garden hose, something solar energy experts tell us is not that necessary in the Bay Area). Our experience with our Next Energy salesperson and installers (including the personal involvement of President Randy Kauffman) was totally satisfactory. Concurrent with "going solar," we replaced a very old fridge, reducing our gross (before solar offset) annual KwH usage by 10% (compared to our gross annual KwH usage in the 12 months prior to "going solar"). Since "going solar" we have been able to reduce our annual KwH usage (with no sacrifice in comfort/lifestyle) by another 15%, merely due to the additional awareness triggered by "going solar." California and Federal rebates and tax credits reduced the net cost of our system by just under 50% of the gross contract price (The 30% Federal tax credit - not dollar-limited after 2008 - reduced our 2009 income tax (equaling 30% of our out-of-pocket cost for the system, net of the California rebate) even though the Alternative Minimum Tax applied to us that year. Our solar 2009-vintage system is large enough to completely zero the dollar annual dollar amount that we otherwise would be paying PG&E for electrons (meaning that net charges for all five E-6 electric rates tiers, not just the higher rate tiers, are reduced to zero), but our net investment nonetheless is so far producing an after-tax/after inflation annual rate of return of about 10-11% over its estimated 30-year life [A solar system sized to eliminate only charges from the higher-rate tiers would have a significantly shorter payback period]. Like all solar systems, solar panel output is supposed to decline about 0.5% a year -- we have seen no evidence of that so far -- and we will need a new/rebuilt inverter in about 12 years or so. Independent of whatever its environmental benefits might be, given the California and Federal rebates/income tax credits available to us in 2009, the cash spent to buy our system appears (so far anyway!) to have been a wise investment (especially given the near zero interest rate T-Bills have been earning since 2009). I believe the size of the California rebate for a given solar system has decreased since 2009, but solar panels have decreased in cost and have become more efficient since then. We rate our total experience with Next Energy very highly as you can see from the number of stars we have awarded! read more

Next Energy installed our SunPower solar system in 2004. The system worked great, saved us money, and helped us feel like we made a positive impact on the environment. While we have been very pleased with the system and service provided, we are even more so today. Upon discovering that several panels had what appeared to be corrosion under the glass, and not knowing really what it was, we sent pictures to Randy at NextEnergy. To our amazement, Randy emailed back on Thanksgiving Day, the same day we had emailed him. He outlined the process and started the warranty claim with SunPower. However, after eight years and in these times when product follow-up is rare, if at all, Next Energy not only resolved the problem but arranged in conjunction with Sun Power to have a new system installed. Randy's installation team and their efforts to accommodate us were nothing short of perfect. Our system is back in new condition (completely replaced with new panels and inverter), We would highly recommend NextEnergy and Sun Power to anyone that demands quality service. When we decided to go Solar, a friend told us about Next Energy who they chose for Solar. We were so impressed we called and set up a meeting with a sales rep. We were very impressed by his knowledge of solar. From that point on everything went as planned and we are so happy we chose Next Energy. The installers were so knowledgeable and their work habits were great! They were neat about their work and kept everything picked up. Yes, you can (and we do) spend a lot of time watching the meter to see how it performs, but that is part of the fun to see how much we save each day. Our electric bill dropped unbelievably low so it was well worth us putting in Solar. We could not have asked for a better experience. I had NE install our system in 2013 and have been dancing my happy dance ever since. The rebates back then paid for almost 1/2 the system but that is not the main reason. My yearly Electric costs since install have been less that $255 and several years $0. But that again is not the whole story. NE installed our 18 panel, two series system on our metal encapsulated roof with out damaging the roof; which is so easy to do. Step on a steel roof shingle wrong and it is permanently dented. They did a great job for preserving the integrity of our roof. And they worked with the city of Walnut Creek to get the design that I wanted; utilizing the roof area I wanted to use. Thank you Randy! The company history and integrity was shown by their actions. The pricing was extremely competitive. Upon signing the contract the installation preceded quickly and efficiently. We had NextEnergy install our solar about 10 years ago. We have had no problems with any of the equipment. From the salesman, Doug Hamilton, to the installers & to the owner Randy Kaufman, they have provided the best products & services any homeowner could desire. We recently reroofed our home which of course required the removal and reinstallation of the panels. With the old roof removed we could observe the attention paid to the install. Excellent! Continuing to use Villara because my builder chose them hasn't paid off. I'll be switching to a more reliable and responsive HVAC provider going forward.

Aurelio was the tech who came by last Wednesday the 26th for our appointment. He was extremely helpful & knowledgeable on how to run our heater, and gave me good advice on how to run the dual zone system to be more efficient for us. We had to change one part and the price for everything seemed reasonable, and the repair for sure helped our system run smoother the last few days.

Tim and his team got the job done in a timely manner and I felt comfortable asking his advice on how to proceed with other electrical challenges at the house. Tim helped answer all my questions and found cost effective ways to get the job done for me. He left the lights slightly hanging down for me so that it would be easier to paint around them which showed that he was listening to where I was in the process of my remodel, and it was appreciated. Tim went above and beyond to meet my specific needs and answer my unique questions. He was realistic and I never felt like he pushed me to take the easy way out. We ended up adding a nice light for the garage to make it more work friendly at the end of the job. One thing I wish I would have known was that I was expecting to receive white faceplates on the light switches and outlets because I thought that's what you got when you "go modern" as I kept saying loosely, well I didn't specify and I got bone/beige colored throughout the house. I didn't know any better but you live and you learn. Not worth complaining about for my future rental.
