Very Disappointed With the Service and How This Was Handled I purchased a new A/C and furnace system from Honey's Air & Solar around 2022-2023, expecting that buying a new system would mean reliable equipment and good customer service. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. About a year after the installation, in 2024, the system started leaking from a flare. Honey's came out, repaired the flare, and added Freon. Since then, I've had a friend who owns a local HVAC company replace my air filter every six months and check the system, so I have continued to maintain it. Around July of this year, I noticed water coming through the sheetrock around the furnace. I removed the filter and found that it was wet. I also noticed condensation on the copper lines, with water dripping onto the filter. The bottom of the filter housing had filled with water, causing damage to my drywall and the surrounding area. I called Honey's Air & Solar to explain what was happening, and instead of feeling like they were interested in helping me figure out why a relatively new system was leaking again, I was accused of neglecting the system and essentially told it was my fault. They eventually sent out a technician, Chris. He couldn't find an obvious leak at the time, but told me the system appeared to be leaking again and that he needed to add Freon and dye so they could hopefully locate the leak later. I was told the service call would be $89 plus the Freon, which came out to around $122. I was also told they would need to return to locate the leak. Then on 8/1/26, I received a message from Marina saying that my $12.99 service plan payment had failed. I was confused because I had never knowingly signed up for a service plan. When I questioned it, I was told, essentially, "You signed for it, so you did." The way this was communicated came across as very condescending and rude. If I had been properly informed about the service plan and what I was agreeing to, I may have considered keeping it, but after that interaction, I told them I didn't want it. Now I'm being told that just coming back to locate the leak will cost $725. And if they determine that it's a new leak, I'm being told the repair could cost more than $2,000. This is what I find extremely frustrating: this is supposed to be a new system. It has already had a leak in the past, has been maintained, and is now leaking again and causing water damage inside my home. I will give Anthony, the service manager, credit for offering to cut the leak-search charge in half. I appreciate that gesture, but I'm still left wondering why I'm facing hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars in costs on a relatively new system that has already had problems. My biggest issue isn't simply the money. It's the way this situation has been handled and the feeling that the responsibility is being pushed onto the homeowner rather than Honey's standing behind the system they sold and installed. If you're considering purchasing a new HVAC system, I strongly recommend asking very detailed questions about the warranty, service plan, leak repairs, and exactly what costs you could be responsible for if something goes wrong after the first year. At this point, I expected much better from a company that sold me a new HVAC system. read more

I had been thinking about replacing my old water heater for about 4 years. I called Honey's Air and Solar, and made an appoinment for an estimate, the following week a service rep visited my home and answered all my questions. The following week two installers arrived exactly as promised and spent the better part of tha day installing my new On-Demand Water Heater. The new water heater is top of the line and the install is top rate. They even installed hook ups for Solar Hot Water at a later date. I have nothing but praise for these guys and will not hesitate to call them for any other Heating and Air Conditioning projects. read more

I called last week because we had a mini-split installed (DIY) and needed a technician to come out, test the lines, check the electrical and turn on the unit to test it. When I called, I was treated very nicely on the phone and was able to schedule an appointment within 48 hours. Diagostic appointments are $89 during the week and $149 on Saturday. Our technician, Wes, was very professional, on time and easy to talk to. He came out and checked the unit (we needed a different fuse) and turned the unit on and got it running. I was very happy with the service from the ladies in the office to Wes our technician. Just a heads up, they have a monthly maintenance plan ($12.95 a month) that they will try and sell you. It includes an annual check of your A/C unit and of your heater. Any additional work or service calls are then 20% off. We have had honeys air & solar for little more than a year. Can't say enough good things about them, there technicians are knowledgeable and super friendly. Walk down what they will be doing and always listens to our concerns as well. Today we got to meet Lorenzo, the tech that will be servicing us today. Just wow, what a nice guy and thorough as well cleaned our unit like his own. He also showed us some before and after pics. He also made a suggestion when he found out I had bad allergies and saw the 3 air purifiers throughout the house. lol. He recommended us to get the unit that plugs into out HVAC unit. June 2024: We chose Honey's to replace our 24 year old HVAC system based on several of our neighbor's recommendations. Also, because Honey's is contracted through Costco we would get a Costco gift card for a percentage of the price (not worth it). The first step is the salesman comes out and explains all they offer and inspects the units and goes up in the attic to inspect our duct work. He reported that our ducting looks fine and so we proceed. Install goes fine and they gave us a year of free maintenance check ups - 2 times a year - summer & winter. Both free visits the technicians reported no issues, everything working great. GOOD, because it's brand new! Hindsight, our mistake was paying to keep the maintenance plan for the second year because now when each technician comes out they start trying to upsell you. The damn thing was less than 2 years old when the furnace technician tells us we probably need a surge protector installed inside the unit because this area has a lot of power surges, for a ridiculous price. 6 months later the A/C technician tells us our ductwork is too small. HUH? The guy that sold us the system inspected the duct work and said it's absolutely fine. And btw, they will charge you double the price of what an air filter costs. I found the exact filters on amazon and put them in myself. Also, once they gave us a window of say 1-5 when technician would arrive and then called at 5:30 and said they wouldn't be here until 7. 2 other times they cancelled and rescheduled. Our neighbors have since had similar bad experiences with this company and we are all very disappointed and are moving on from them. Would not recommend. read more

The receptionist said they have to come to the house because they need to look which wasn't necessary even said you can even go on the roof not a problem they insisted I have to be there so I took time and it was for nothing! My wife and I purchased our house a little over a year ago and used the Home Warranty that came with the purchase to have a few Air conditioning items looked at. Our house was built in the 1970s and has a raised foundation with a crawl space beneath the house, the air ducts are in the floor not the ceiling like more modern houses. We noticed an air vent in the Primary Bedroom not pushing out a lot of air and had the Home Warranty company dispatch an A.C. company on their list to look things over. They sent out the request to companies on their approved list, and the one who accepted the job sent a tech out. The A.C. and ducts were inspected and we were told it was just a limitation of how the house was designed and he suggested we buy an electric floor vent to help pull the air and give us better performance, otherwise there wasn't anything we could do to improve the issue. I thought this was a little odd seeing how the AC unit can push to the entire house and the vent before and past this one just fine. But since I was on a bit of a time crunch to get it fixed, I deferred to his expertise and got a booster fan and moved on with my life. Fast forward a year or so...time to get an annual tune up of my unit before Summer heat hits the valley. I missed the window for the Warranty company tune up that is offered and started looking for companies around Modesto to get this done that was reputable as I want to invest in a maintenance plan for such services annually. There were quite a few options to choose from, but I settled on Honey's Air & Solar. $89 flat one time fee for a tune up, was less expensive than the warranty company fee to send someone out of $99, and this would be a company I choose. They also are a family owned business that has been around since 2009 and have solid reviews on Google and Yelp. (yelp only had 3.5 stars, but that isn't a deal breaker). I decided I would give them a try for a one time tune up and re-evaluate if the maintenance plan is something to consider after the visit for next year. Maintenance Plan Details as of (5/29/25): First maintenance is $49.00 vs $89.00 and the program is $155.40 for a total of $204.40 for the first year then $155.40 for the following years. Or $49.00 + $12.95 then $12.95 per month on a recurring credit card for a more budget friendly option. This includes a Furnace visit then 2 more maintenance visits during the year, Priority Service and reduced fee diagnostic trips. During the week a diagnostic is $89.00, weekends $129.00 and a Holiday is $149.00. You will always pay $49.00 along with 20% off Parts & Labor for any repairs. You will also be on their text/email list to remind you of appointments. Also you receive 5% off other services they offer such as Water Treatment, Window replacement and Whole house fans to name a few. Honey's communicated via text and email the appointment status and updates, a picture with the name of the tech, Jeremias, who would be showing up and a tracking link to see where they are and how long until they arrive. Jeramias showed up, performed the tune up and found there were some differences in the temperature in a few rooms, one as much as 20 degrees. He was able to re-calibrate everything and there was a noticeable difference in cooling. He asked if there was anything else we needed and I casually mentioned the vent issue from a year prior. He said he would take a look, I showed him to the crawl space and within 15 minutes, he figured out the problem. The duct-work under the house that goes to that vent had collapsed or been crushed by a pipe or something in the past and he was surprised it was getting any air at all. Showed me a video of the issue and said he could fix it that day. I was amazed, also he mentioned the maintenance plan (which I already had researched) and that it could save me some money on the repair by as much as $50 and would reduce the tune up cost to $49 instead of $89. Deciding to do the plan was a no brainer at this point. He was able to fix it and we now had a much cooler Primary Bedroom and just in time for the triple digit weather. I am glad I went with Honey's, you should also consider them if you are looking. read more

Our dual zone heating system wasn't working. I called these guys because the owner lives in our neighborhood and wouldn't want to crap where he eats. BOY WAS I WRONG! I was told a circuit board was bad and that a new one would cost $3,000. Finding that hard to believe I sought a second opinion. Integrity HVAC came out, climbed into the attic, less than 5 minutes later he came down to test it. Everything worked as it should. I asked him what the problem was and he said a wire had come loose and he plugged it back in. Charged me $50.00. read more

Typical HVAC scams abound. They offer cheap service contracts to get their foot in the door and then their service team goes into sales mode trying to talk you into dramatically over price repairs. $500 capacitors, $300 relays, 600 fan cleanings, all can be done by you for 10% or less and if you are not comfortable doing it, at 25% the price with an ethical service company. My last straw was being told my mini split needed charged, but my service tech was unable to diagnose it. So they wanted another $149 to send someone else out, and then 150 a pound for refrigerant. Called another company, $90 for visit, recharge, Schrader valve replacement and checked fittings. I have now moved my maintenance contract. I had my solar panels installed by Honey's Air and Solar a few years ago, and initially, the experience seemed positive. However, I'm now facing a serious issue: several of the inverters have failed, and when I reached out to Honey's for support, I was told that it's not their responsibility because the manufacturer, SunPower, went bankrupt. This response is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I didn't purchase the system from SunPower--I purchased it from Honey's Air and Solar. They recommended and sold me this system, and now that it's failing just a few years later, they are refusing to take ownership or help resolve the issue. I trusted this company to provide a reliable product and stand behind their work. Instead, I feel abandoned as a customer. This kind of service completely undermines any confidence I had in their business. Buyers beware: If something goes wrong with your system down the line, you may be left on your own--even if you spent thousands with this company. I had a Heat Pump system installed on May 15th and 16th. My house is 27 years old. I thought it would be a standard replacement, but it turned into a major retrofit. Honey's replaced the engine in my Generac generator. They handled all the warranty paperwork, parts acquisition, etc. Due to a system malfunction, the generator put out a spurious voltage on start-up after repairs that fried the control board on my garage door opener. they paid for a replacement with no argument. I am a retired electrical systems test engineer, with a specialty in back-up power systems, generators and automatic transfer systems, so I was watching everything these techs did. Honey's is a mess and nothing but regret that we chose them. We spent around $17,000 for a full HVAC system replacement last year. They were almost 2 hours late, no call. They then installed the wrong sized duct work, effectively choking our new system and would easily ruin the motor soon making it work so much harder with not enough air to function. Manager calls, manager calls, anything they do you have to fight them to fix their mistakes and do it right. Our new system is louder and less effective than our 20yr old one, it takes all day for a couple degrees less and some rooms end up much cooler or hotter than the others. Alarms go off randomly for hours. I called and very thoroughly booked the full maintenance visit and they lied to me and just booked AC. The technicians are always nice, but the company ties their hands and makes them get yelled at for the scams they didn't even do, they are just techs. They tell me my maintain visits are included in the membership I paid for, then day of appointment to my face in my house they say it will be full price to do a 2nd visit for the heater maintenance... but I'm a member and it was included? No, they purposely booked it wrong so the tech didn't have time and can schedule after my membership ends for full price. So $17,000, plus a year of their scammy membership, and I got a lame HVAC system and 1/2 of 1 maintenance appointment instead of the full HVAC 2 maintenance appointments I paid for. Oh, and now my warranty is ruined too. Seriously? Then they all push me to buy another year of membership. Nothing but scams and audacity with Honey's and they will do whatever they can to not keep their contractual obligations. Buyer beware. read more

I called honey air on Saturday because I had seen they had good reviews. My appointment ended up being for Tuesday. My technician was there for three and half hours and couldn't diagnose the issue. He said my compressor worked fine and my refrigerant was good.. I thought he was clearly over his head because he kept calling to ask people for help. I asked him how much longer was he going to keep pulling my unit apart and putting it back together. His finally conclusion was that I was going to have to have the unit removed because it was an install issue. He charged my diagnostic fee$89 and left. The next day a manager left me a message that the guy didn't really have enough experience and would send someone else out but I already had a new company HAC Heating and air out . 209-756-1713. HAC heating and air diagnosed the problem in 20 minutes and came out same day. First he said there was a wire on roof that was disconnected that was causing my compressor not to work. Odd because honey said it was fine. The new company showed me a picture of the disconnected wire. And my fuse was out in the unit . I called honey air to tell them all this and they said a manager would call me and guess what??? No one has called me!!!! Long story short... call HAC heating and air. read more

We requested service on our HVAC system last summer. The unit is admittedly old - 30 years. They sent us a technician who climbed on the roof, took off the the access door to the unit, hooked up some wires to a meter, pulled out a fuse, and told us that the condenser unit was shot and we would need a whole new unit. What I didn't tell him was that I studied mechanical engineering in college and have been wrenching on my home repairs for years. His explanation had lots of technical words, but I knew he was talking out of his *ss. Then, I called a personal friend who is himself a qualified mechanic on HVAC and commercial refrigeration systems. He went up there, checked out the whole system, pulled the fuse, tested it, found it to be bad, and replaced it for about $6 - problem fixed. Bought my home 7yrs ago. AC has always blown cold and no issues . Every spring I do the coil cleaning and vacuum best I can . Well this year I decided to call in the "pros". So Honeys was always on my Radar I guess do to advertising . I call them to do a "regular" tune up and they come out on time even with a heads up call when on the way. Tech arrives , asks a few questions and goes to work. After about 15 min he calls me to the outside AC unit, keep in mind unit is running and he did temp checks, all good! So he shows me THREE parts that are working but tells me if I don't replace it will get "really expensive " as they will cause bigger issues, even may need to replace unit. I tell him , let me know how much. He gets done with outside and comes inside to furnace. Takes about 15 Min to gain access to unit for whatever reason, he looks at it for 15 sec and says , "all good here". He then goes to the truck (1 hour in to appt now), he comes back to me and shows me his iPad and starts talking about memberships yada yada yada. I see the price without membership $1550, and with membership $1100. I said thanks and go ahead and complete the service I'm good. THEN he finds me again not 5 min later and says , "boss ok me for $775 if you do membership . I asked what membership means and it's basically $140 a month and they come out and check your system a few times a year, i said no thanks. I also said "tell boss since we dropped $750 off price in 5 min let's go with $400 and finish the job". He says "boss wont do it", ok fine thanks but no thanks. Now we are 2.5 hours in and I really still to this day 5 days later know what he did besides hook his equipment up and run test MAYBE , and then proceeded to put in MERV1's filters in my ducts, i actually laughed and said oh thank you . Long story short , parts I ordered that still work were $65 dollars TOTAL!!!! My son will come home from Marine Corp this weekend and install , said 30 min max. So , I'm thinking you guys are CROOKS! Who does this? I make a call to office and ask for mgr, I get voicemail, and leave a message to call me. Still 4 days later no call, of course no call, jeez why would you call me when you know your hosing people and sadly a LOT of older people will fall for the price gouging. It's almost criminal to think you would charge someone $1440 labor and $60 parts for a 1 hour job. I just kept thinking what If it was my mom , she would of fell for it and get hosed . I was suppose to have someone at 10-12 am, no show. Then I was told it was 4-6 pm, no show, no call. I called again and was told the tech is almost done with his other appointment, well that doesn't help my timeframe. The process should have been to call your customer and inform them that the tech is running behind. This is a failure in communication and now have to wait until July 1st to get the system serviced.
