LOVED the food at this spot. Came in for the SD Restaurant Week deal for $35 for a 3 course (appetizer, entree, dessert). They have a pretty solid list of options of which we ordered: Appetizer: -Flame grilled Shrimp: 2 pieces, pretty large sized, nicely seasoned, and a bit of heat, served with grilled lemon and tzatziki with cucumber chunks. Wish there was more! -Ney Mediterranean salad: olives, parsley, cucumber, red onions, tomatoes, peppers (not spicy) and two big blocks of feta. A fresh contrast from the shrimp Entrees: -Chicken Tikka: huge portion with rice, tomatoes, delicious pickled cabbage and radish, grilled tomato and spicy pepper. Came with a side of garlic spread. Chicken was juicy and flavorful and the rice had raisins and almonds -Lamb Quzi: lamb shank on the bone, pickled veggies, fresh onion slices, grilled tomato and spicy pepper, all atop delicious rice with raisins and almonds. This was also served with a side of white bean soup Dessert: We each got two pieces of their delicious pistachio baklava It's super clean inside and they were playing Sia, Rihanna, and other pop faves from the 2000's. Service was pretty quick and there was only one server. 3% credit card charge fee, and still working on their beer and wine license but they do have a good selection of mocktails and 0.0 Heineken. Pretty big entree portions so we had plenty to take home for a second meal each. Def don't sleep on this spot right next to the old Oyster and Pearl, and in the same lot as the Swagyu Burger Lounge.

Came here for the first time and this place did not disappoint! Excellent customer service they were very attentive and talked to everyone. Food was solid, ordered the Al Muhib Grill to try out everything. The best part of the platter was the lamb kebab it was cooked very well and was not too dry. Other meats were great too but the beef shawarma I found a little dry. The garlic sauce and other white sauce went well with everything. I enjoyed eating the Ney rice the most over Baryank rice because I'm not a cinnamon kinda guy. Lots of bread to go with the latter which was nice. Overall very solid meal and filling for 3 people, definitely would come again if I had a big party!

This place is DELECTABLE!!! I wish i could give 6 stars. I had the greek salad for appetizer, it was tossed with greek dressing and served with two big feta blocks. The serving was very generous, the salad itself was very fresh and crispy. My favorite was the entree. I had the lamb quzi, slow braised served with grilled onion & tomato plus lentils. I don't think I can describe how delicious this was, everyone needs to go try it themselves! For dessert I had the pistachio ricotta, it was so light and fluffy, it melted right into my mouth. Our server was extremely nice, she helped us understand the menu, and made recommendations upon request. I came as part of restaurant week, & I'm so happy I did as this place is a gem.

A lovely place that we keep coming and coming for its consistence of great food, great service and great ambiance. This week is restaurant week so we just had lunch here. Wow, the food was great and the coffee gelato dessert was to die for. If you have not visited this restaurant yet, try them out. You won't be dissatisfied. Happy meals.

Recommended by a good friend. There were about 18 of us, went there for lunch. Slow day, place to ourselves. Place was clean. Was told that there are live entertainment in the evening on some days, and it's a must see. Service was great, very accommodating ( since I have few food allergies). Service was also fast, considering it was a large group with different dishes ordered. To share and as individuals. Everyone was very happy with their orders. Ingredients were fresh. Foods were flavorful and authentic Mediterranean cuisine. All staff were very friendly. They took empty plates off the table. Parking may be challenging, the place is in a small lot. but there are lots of street parking. Highly recommended. Give it try!

A FANTASTIC SDRW expanded Mediterranean experience. In house made baklava is enough reason to explore this 3YO La Mesa hidden gem. Spicing of each dish is very delicate and purposefully expands your taste buds. Hummus very smooth and creamy. Beef Burke delicate satisfying phyllo dough stuffed with minced beef. Iraqi lamb Quzi a Hugh portion of lamb shank over basmati rice with raisins, almonds and herbs. Fortunately today the fish was yet to be delivered so we have a solid reason to go bank. For the most part I enjoyed my meal here. The fatoush salad was really good and so was their baba ghanoush. Their combo platter was ok in my opinion. All the meats were cooked perfectly, but they all lacked flavor. Everything was pretty bland. Had to use a lot of garlic paste with every bite. I did have is pistachio dessert and it was amazing. Service was excellent too.

Ney is a real neighborhood gem. This place serves the best Mediterranean-style food in San Diego, in my opinion. It is worth the trip to La Mesa. I believe that the owner is also the chef, and as has been mentioned by others, the staff are always very friendly and accommodating. There are many great dishes to choose from here, but I think the "Ney Style Greek Salad" deserves a special shout-out. They are as delicious as they are gorgeous and easily my favorite salad in San Diego County. It contains some atypical ingredients like capers and some sweet peppers that are far from your typical "red bell". It is topped with generous slices of feta and all of the flavors are so well-balanced that you must try it if you go here. It is large and best for sharing. Personally, I to pair it with a Chicken Tikka Skewer, which always comes out tender and cooked to perfection. Give this place a try. It will not disappoint. read more

Came for lunch with my family today and couldn't of had a better experience. The service was great and very attentive. The food was amazing. We got the appetizer sampler, tabouli, med salad, fattoush and tzatziki with pita and the family tray of assorted meats and rice. Presentation was beautiful and everything was fresh. Last week, I visited Ney for the second time. What can I say? I really like the taste of the food! This time, I ordered the "Ney Mixed Grill." It came with Lamb ribs, kabob, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, grilled tomato and, pita bread. Somehow I felt the need for a vegetable so I requested a side order of fries. No sauce was required for the meats which will attest to the fine flavoring of the food. The entire meal was quite succulent and I caught myself licking my fingers and unable to finish! No worries though, the leftovers were just as tasty the next day for an afternoon snack. I wish this restaurant much success! The food is good. The service is awesome; the staff is quite helpful. This is a cozy place to 'chill' after a demanding day at the office or to meet with friends. I just think a few minor adjustments are needed to menu arrangement and pricing. read more

Everything at Ney is top-notch, from the delicious food and drinks to the excellent service and cool ambience. The entrees are HUGE! The lamb Quizi is a must and the salmon tikka is flavorful. Restaurant Week dinner portions are big too, so definitely worth a visit! We actually closed out the restaurant and was stuck in a downpour, and one of the workers was sweet enough to offer a ride down the street! I mean, that is extremely kind and thoughtful and just super amazing. We love Ney! read more

Delicious food, great service, clean and priced fairly. We had 5 people and ordered the shareable dinner platter (enough for 4) and a appetizers, we had more than enough food to eat and we all took some home! The platter had fliet steak, chicken, lamb, beef Scwarma, vegetables, 2 types of rice and pita bread. The lamb was my favorite, but I enjoyed ending. Delicious taste, spices and sauce. The garlic sauce is delicious! Platter was 95.00, we all had 1 alcoholic drink and Appetizers, total was 200.00 +tip. Fair price for 5 people and plenty of food. We will be back! read more

In my humble opinion, this is the best restaurant in San Diego. Sure there are restaurants with a view or a very appealing atmosphere that may be different from Ney. But for the most delicious food anywhere, this is my place. If I am ever on death row my last meal will come from Nay. Last night when my Grub Hub driver arrived with my order I was so happy I almost hugged him! Then to find that my beef Shawarma wrap sandwich had been forgotten I was crushed (first world problems). So I went to bed and dreamed about the wrap that never happened. But I will return to this awesome restaurant thousands more times because it's just that wonderful. Aside from the food they have a helpful staff that explained the menu and are super friendly. The only reason I'm giving five stars is because I can't give more! **Edit** Sam, The owner gave me a call and explained the situation... It could not have been avoided and I totally understand... He sending me a little something extra with my order today and it's much appreciated. This place is incredible and Sam is a stand-up guy. read more

Holly sh.... I was not expecting that. I ordered the lamb kebab sandwich. The sandwich looked more like a sausage roll. I don't know if they rolled it in a puff pastry and baked it or what they did with it. But the kebab was juicy. Plus they put some sort of roasted tomato ketchup in there which gives a great flavor. I will order that again for sure. I wish I took a picture. I was too hungry and finished my lunch very fast. read more

We went here for lunch the other day and gosh was it ever good food! We shared a sampler platter that had four items we chose and every single one of them was outstanding! We also shared the Shawarma fries and that was excellent. The place was spotless, the wait staff was helpful and friendly, and the food was beyond delicious! We will definitely be back! I want to try a few more things on the menu before deciding on my favorites! read more

Everything was prepared with great flavor, portions, and care. I had the garlic sauce and the yogurt sauce with my meal. This place is one of my favorites. My recommendation is maybe they clear out the meats and give the whole department a good deep cleaning. Also consider implement clean processes to keep the smell away because it's really impacting what is being sold. It's off putting to take home meats that it has a funky smell.

I recently visited Ney with some friends to try their Iraqi-inspired fare. The location and parking situation were very convenient, and the interior of the restaurant was bright and welcoming. When we were first greeted by our server, there was some confusion about whether we were there to order food or just browse the menu. But otherwise, the hostess was perfectly friendly. We went ahead and ordered several items all at once since our group had already looked over the menu. The hummus appetizer arrived promptly and tasted fresh and flavorful. However, our main wraps - the falafel and the chicken schnitzel - took over 50 minutes to come out afterwards. That would be a long wait time under any circumstances, but what made it worse was getting zero updates in the meantime. Our waitress basically avoided us during that whole stretch. At one point, we had to flag someone down just to ask how much longer our food would be. Adding insult to injury, we noticed tables that were seated after us received their entrees first. The wraps themselves were very tasty when they finally arrived. But by then, we were pretty frustrated with the service. The food quality at Ney is excellent and it's a nice environment. However, the painfully slow serving time and lack of communication really diminished our experience. Considering the positives and negatives, a 3-star review seems fair. The cuisine is great but they need to seriously improve waiting times and server attentiveness. read more

I recently visited Ney Restaurant in La Mesa with the simple goal of grabbing a few sides to complement my dinner at home. To my surprise, the restaurant was completely empty, yet I wasn't greeted or acknowledged at all. It set an unwelcoming tone from the start. When I asked about ordering sides, I was met with a dismissive response. The chef immediately shifted focus to two women seated at the bar-ignoring me entirely-before curtly telling me I couldn't purchase the sides I wanted, even though they were clearly listed on the menu under appetizers and sides. I pointed this out, but it was dismissed as if I was making a silly inconvenience. This treatment was not just unhelpful-it felt condescending and unnecessary. Despite being a healthcare professional and cooking enthusiast, I left feeling deeply alienated. The service-and lack thereof-felt racially charged. In such an empty restaurant, this level of disregard was inexplicable and offensive. To anyone who cares about respectful service and inclusive environments: do not recommend Ney Restaurant. The lack of basic courtesy-let alone an attempt at understanding-makes it a place I cannot support. read more

The Lamb Quzi was also a standout dish with a juicy and tender lamb shank on a bed of seasoned rice surrounded by assorted vegetables . The ambiance of the restaurant was relaxing, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends and family.
