The employees here are all wonderful. They're always super nice and helpful. They have amazing sales and I recommend signing up for the weekly ads. Produce: Most produce are fresh but I've also noticed some being old or close to becoming old. But it's always worth a search for some good ones when there's a sale and I"m always able to find some good produce to take home. I've seen worst at Zion Market. Meats: Mixed Reviews as well - the sales are amazing and the meat can be quite good. It's all Halal. However, for this weekend specifically - the smell from the meat section is horribly strong. I noticed it a couple weeks ago maybe? It seems like they didn't clean whatever is going on and it got worst with time. I love this market and I don't want them to go out of business. My recommendation is maybe they clear out the meats and give the whole department a good deep cleaning. Also consider implement clean processes to keep the smell away because it's really impacting what is being sold. It's off putting to take home meats that it has a funky smell. read more

Love how fresh all of their produce, salads, & juices are. They offer such a wide variety of products. I always enjoy stopping in when I get food from the grille next door. This is pretty good market. They offer a good size meat department and a huge amount of produce as well. I picked up some chicken thighs for $1.89 lbs to make some pollo asado. The price reflects signing up with your phone number at the register. I also picked up several whole garlic at $5.99 per pound. The gents at the meat counter were friendly and helpful, and also advised me on up coming sales. The produce area was well stocked and maintained. I did not grab any, but they had fresh lemons at five for $1.00. The young man at the register was friendly. They offer a good size parking lot. read more

Great deals here! The oranges I've had from here are always so sweet. Great deals on a number of produce like avocados, eggplant, cucumbers, and more. I came here this visit especially for their deals on pizza. BOGO on their 18" pizza at $17.99. That's like $9 for one huge AND delicious pizza. The crust is a nice chewy, flat bread texture with lots of toppings. The staff here is friendly and helpful. The store is also kept organized, well stocked, and clean. The ambiance and food in aisles are great, but people working behind the deli should be trained on how to make a sandwich. Ordered two sandwiches, where I requested mustard on both and no mayo. First sandwich (Turkey/Salami) has so much mustard on both slices of bread, to the point where the only thing you can taste is the mustard and nothing else. The second sandwich - The Italian - also had a boatload of mustard mixed with an insane amount of Italian dressing, so you're tasting mustard/Italian dressing an nothing else. On the positive, the ingredients are all fresh, and the lady helping was super nice - but making a sandwich is not that complicated, and the staff/management should do a better job of training their employees on something so basic. read more

An awesome market even for the limited things I come here for. And they have way more than I can explore. Produce, meats, nuts and deli items are all on deal weekly and jump on these specials. Fridays are the best. Like $3.99 T-bone steaks and $4.59 New York steaks. The butcher guy even says. "Hey let me bring some form the back so yin can choose from more". This is what I call premium customer service. And back to the deals, 3 for $1 avocados. 4 for $1 navel oranges. Lemons 79¢/pound. These were very recent specials/prices. Unbeatable. Sign up with the text program and you'll be getting sent weekly deals to remind you. So here I buy pita bread and tabouli or hummus. So far, haven't tried the pizza and the grill, but really has looks that kill so gotta go try these things for sure. I have heard from the lady that some of her coworkers brought stuff and errybody liked it. But based on the deals I've got here so far, everything they do they rock across the board. Friendly, helpful workers here too. The butcher here was awesome the last time. He even went to the back and opened a new box of steaks and let me pick one. Supreme service for sure. What a great find. Great grocery store with lots of Mediterranean items. They also had a great organic produce section with great prices. They also had a big selection of ready made items - like fresh juices, hummus, pickled onions, salads etc. the only thing I didn't like about those were some had bad seed oils and or seemed like possibly not all ingredients were listed. Accidentally stumbled in here when trying to look for their sister restaurant, The Grill. Very clean and have a wide range of high quality groceries. I got a slice of the cream cara and it was delicious. All of their desserts looked so good. Prices are comparable to Whole Foods. Staff is awesome. Will be coming back! read more

When it comes to my favorite niche grocery store, it's time for an update! I love so much about this place but I think the best way for me to provide an update is to share what I still make the drive to Vine Ripe for. This list is by no means limited to the items that I mention. - The dolmas. I love them. Why buy a can of crappy ones from Trader Joe's when you can come here and get 30 of them for about $10.00 - packaged up and ready to go. - The fresh feta cheese. Seriously, order the feta from the deli counter and ask for a bit of the brine on the side. There are about 3 or 4 different fetas to choose from... hard to go wrong. - The produce. Keep an eye on the weekly ad for Vine Ripe and you'll find that the produces deals are great. Don't go to Ralph's or Vons for your fruits and veggies when you can come here for what seems like a fraction of the price on a very regular basis. I also love the restaurant that is connected to the store, but that's review on its own. read more

From the warm smiles and service at the bakery to the gentleman at the restaurant who offered to cut our bakery item in half and rolled out the heater without us asking... everyone was welcoming and eager to help. Got a gyro wrap which was simple but tasty. Great tzatziki. The zaatar/cheese flatbread was okay. There was an put of the ordinary taste I couldn't pinpoint. The thicker pizza ones looked better than the thin one we got. Would try that next time. Come here for the Arab groceries. Lots of other standard groceries too. Martin from this department is very friendly, personable and kind. I just recently got the 2 pizzas for one deal. (SUCH an amazing deal!!!) Pizzas were huge, dough was fresh and soft. Good amount of toppings, not a single part was overdone or undercooked. I never pass this area without getting something from the glass case. I do believe on the weekends they have fresh meat grilling out front. I haven't tried this yet, but the smell is to die for, It's next on my list. I would consider this place a hidden gem. Stopped at the store 5:30 craving for baklava and they have the fresh baked in the show cast and I was stood there for 5 minutes nobody played attention to me the guy he doing dishwasher and I rang the bell still avoiding me and I walked away away, very disappointed I take my business somewhere else this not only the store sells baklava. read more

This store is a great resource for cooking and eating Middle Eastern cuisine. The staff is always SUPER helpful and answers any and all questions you may have. All the fresh meat - lamb, beef, and chicken - are identified as "halal." I don't know the ins and outs of the meaning behind this Identifier, but I know their fresh meat is always delicious! They have great sales, too, like NY steaks for $3.99/lb or brown (or yellow onions) for 50 cents/lb. What?! The deli section offers fresh-made subs, including tri-tip - one for $7.99 and the second for $3.99. I had the falafel, hubby had an Italian, and Mom had a meatball one. We all agree they were delicious! The range of spices available is phenomenal - it takes up a whole wall! The produce area is pretty cool too (see pics). First, I have to explain. I love grocery stores. Especially locally owned, or ethnic markets. I will peruse an aisle of groceries containing labels in literally any language. I first saw this business on Instagram, and found their weekly ad. Joined their loyalty program and have been very pleased ever since. Their deals on chicken breast alone are worth the drive from my house. (It's not super far, but La Mesa isn't really close to me.) My partner and I went yesterday to get a ton of chicken to freeze, and also saw they had a deal on pizza. Buy one get one free. For 18" pies, that have all kinds of toppings. We chose a halal pepperoni for the kids. And a meat lovers for the grown ups. These were really delicious pies, the crust was on the thin side, but still supportive of toppings. The beef kofta on the meat lovers was a fun addition. Martin was the gentleman who helped us order and made our pies, and his hospitality was immeasurable. He showed us the pizzas as they came out, incredibly quickly especially for a Friday evening. I also watched him help two older women navigate the slice pizza offerings with incredible patience and kindness that isn't often seen when accommodating the older generation. This wasn't my first trip to this market, nor will it be my last. read more

i tried the baklava from their bakery but it was horrible. $4 for a small square straight to the trash after one bite. superrrrr dryyyyy and overwhelming taste of spice. a waste of money. also, the store NEEDSSSS DESPERATE improvement on eliminating the STENCH that lingers where the butcher/ prepped foods and deli section is at! it smelled like they mopped their floors with putrid, rotting water. i was trying to browse for prepped foods and buy dinner there but omg i could not bare the smell and paid for baklava and left immediately. straight off the bat though, the workers here are sweet and polite including bakery workers. also store is very organized. just quality of baked goods and stinky prepped foods area/ floors, needs to be properly cleaned and deodorized! it just completely turned me away from buying more prepped products. sads :( read more
