I always feel encouraged when a restaurant's restrooms are tastefully appointed. Ney's was very nicely decorated with a number of beautiful wall coverings. There was also a wonderfully scented air freshener. Tina was a superb hostess/server. Wonderful smile and no mistaking which menu items she has a fondness for. It was fun listening to her describe food items. We were there for lunch. Our appetizer selections were delicious as were our salads and entrees. We also loved the Turkish black tea. What an interesting taste.

Nice atmosphere, very clean, and bathrooms were clean and nice as well. Service was friendly and fast. Food was just average. Ordered the Ney Royal Grill. Presentation was nice and good portion, but meat was tough and salty, and rice was salty and didn't taste like basmati rice. I almost gave it 4 star since although dish was average the atmosphere and service was good.

LOVED the food at this spot. Came in for the SD Restaurant Week deal for $35 for a 3 course (appetizer, entree, dessert). They have a pretty solid list of options of which we ordered: Appetizer: -Flame grilled Shrimp: 2 pieces, pretty large sized, nicely seasoned, and a bit of heat, served with grilled lemon and tzatziki with cucumber chunks. Wish there was more! -Ney Mediterranean salad: olives, parsley, cucumber, red onions, tomatoes, peppers (not spicy) and two big blocks of feta. A fresh contrast from the shrimp Entrees: -Chicken Tikka: huge portion with rice, tomatoes, delicious pickled cabbage and radish, grilled tomato and spicy pepper. Came with a side of garlic spread. Chicken was juicy and flavorful and the rice had raisins and almonds -Lamb Quzi: lamb shank on the bone, pickled veggies, fresh onion slices, grilled tomato and spicy pepper, all atop delicious rice with raisins and almonds. This was also served with a side of white bean soup Dessert: We each got two pieces of their delicious pistachio baklava It's super clean inside and they were playing Sia, Rihanna, and other pop faves from the 2000's. Service was pretty quick and there was only one server. 3% credit card charge fee, and still working on their beer and wine license but they do have a good selection of mocktails and 0.0 Heineken. Pretty big entree portions so we had plenty to take home for a second meal each. Def don't sleep on this spot right next to the old Oyster and Pearl, and in the same lot as the Swagyu Burger Lounge.

Great tasting and so flavorful, we cannot choose so we order plenty. Their service was beyond and above , she gave us top recommendations. Atmospheres were very welcoming and inviting.

This place is DELECTABLE!!! I wish i could give 6 stars. I had the greek salad for appetizer, it was tossed with greek dressing and served with two big feta blocks. The serving was very generous, the salad itself was very fresh and crispy. My favorite was the entree. I had the lamb quzi, slow braised served with grilled onion & tomato plus lentils. I don't think I can describe how delicious this was, everyone needs to go try it themselves! For dessert I had the pistachio ricotta, it was so light and fluffy, it melted right into my mouth. Our server was extremely nice, she helped us understand the menu, and made recommendations upon request. I came as part of restaurant week, & I'm so happy I did as this place is a gem.

A lovely place that we keep coming and coming for its consistence of great food, great service and great ambiance. This week is restaurant week so we just had lunch here. Wow, the food was great and the coffee gelato dessert was to die for. If you have not visited this restaurant yet, try them out. You won't be dissatisfied. Happy meals.

Came here for the first time and this place did not disappoint! Excellent customer service they were very attentive and talked to everyone. Food was solid, ordered the Al Muhib Grill to try out everything. The best part of the platter was the lamb kebab it was cooked very well and was not too dry. Other meats were great too but the beef shawarma I found a little dry. The garlic sauce and other white sauce went well with everything. I enjoyed eating the Ney rice the most over Baryank rice because I'm not a cinnamon kinda guy. Lots of bread to go with the latter which was nice. Overall very solid meal and filling for 3 people, definitely would come again if I had a big party!

Recommended by a good friend. There were about 18 of us, went there for lunch. Slow day, place to ourselves. Place was clean. Was told that there are live entertainment in the evening on some days, and it's a must see. Service was great, very accommodating ( since I have few food allergies). Service was also fast, considering it was a large group with different dishes ordered. To share and as individuals. Everyone was very happy with their orders. Ingredients were fresh. Foods were flavorful and authentic Mediterranean cuisine. All staff were very friendly. They took empty plates off the table. Parking may be challenging, the place is in a small lot. but there are lots of street parking. Highly recommended. Give it try!

For the most part I enjoyed my meal here. The fatoush salad was really good and so was their baba ghanoush. Their combo platter was ok in my opinion. All the meats were cooked perfectly, but they all lacked flavor. Everything was pretty bland. Had to use a lot of garlic paste with every bite. I did have is pistachio dessert and it was amazing. Service was excellent too.

    Mike R.

A FANTASTIC SDRW expanded Mediterranean experience. In house made baklava is enough reason to explore this 3YO La Mesa hidden gem. Spicing of each dish is very delicate and purposefully expands your taste buds. Hummus very smooth and creamy. Beef Burke delicate satisfying phyllo dough stuffed with minced beef. Iraqi lamb Quzi a Hugh portion of lamb shank over basmati rice with raisins, almonds and herbs. Fortunately today the fish was yet to be delivered so we have a solid reason to go bank. It has been years since they last offered lunch specials, unfortunately, so most meals now hover around $20 per plate. However, the portions are impressively generous, and I can usually stretch one serving into two meals. The gyro and rice have noticeably improved since my last visit. *Gyro Plate: came with gyro, salad, pita, white rice, and french fries. It also included a side of tzatziki sauce and vinaigrette. The french fries were airy and crisp. The white rice was fluffy and clean tasting. The salad was crisp and refreshing. The pita was decent and mostly served as a vehicle for the sauce. The gyro was tender and flavorful. The meat was well seasoned with a touch of sweetness and heat. *Cucumber Yogurt and Pita: loved that it came as a full tub of sauce. The included pita was rather skimpy, though. The yogurt was vibrant and refreshing. I was worried that the cucumber would water down the creaminess, but it added a naturally light and bright note instead. Although I miss the more affordable lunch options, the food has clearly benefited from their revamp. The quality was consistently high and left me full without weighing me down.

I was shocked to see that this was their 10th anniversary and I'd never even heard about it before. As much as I love Mideast music & foods I decided to go to it, especially since it wasn't that far, and I wasn't sorry. I got there Sunday evening around 7 and spend a couple hours listening to the lively music, wandering around looking at all the booths, smelling the aromas of food cooking, and eating a variety of the foods available. I may have felt a little less comfortable than I do at the Greek Festival because I've been going to it for 40 years but had a good time. Most of the foods are similar to what I have had at the Greek Festival but with their own variations of course. I probably spent about $30 total. Admission was only $2. I got a sandwich for about $7, a cheese on pita type thing for $3, some meat and rice stuffed grape leaves for 2 or 3 dollars, a bunch of desserts, and then somebody told me how good these other little pastry things with meat inside were that I don't know the name of. I had a couple dollars left and bought some of those. I brought a lot of food home and ate it over the next several days. I enjoyed their version of the Turkish coffee. It was only $1 for a little paper cup full and I don't usually drink coffee at 9 o'clock at night but it was very very good. By the way, they take credit cards. You don't pay the vendors directly except by tickets. You go to a cashier, give them your cash or card and tell them how many tickets you want @ a dollar each. If you run out you go back and get more. These tickets are used to buy food and pay for rides. I don't know about merchandise since I didn't buy any. I would definitely try to go to this festival again next year and would recommend it to others especially if you like homemade Middle East food.

Just keep in mind that parking isn't free, so make sure to check the SDSU website for updated rates before you go. I've always enjoyed coming to this spot since my freshman year. Everything is super flavorful and seasoned well, and I love how most of the menu is high in protein. I usually get their rice bowl with chicken, and then you can add whatever toppings you want. It reminds me of a mix between Chipotle and CAVA, but with more of a Mediterranean, healthier twist. Their rice bowls are my favorite. You can also get fries and build a fry bowl, or you can make a build-your-own halal wrap. They have a lot of options, which I like. The staff isn't the friendliest, and every time I'm there it feels a bit rushed, like you have to know exactly what you want right away. The portions are decent, not overly big. I wouldn't recommend asking for extra anything unless you're okay with paying more, because they definitely charge for every add-on. One thing that's a little annoying is that you can't get toppings on the side everything has to go directly into your bowl. Extras like avocado cost more, and the bowls already run around $17, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Prices are higher since it's on a university campus, so just be aware of that. The ambiance is good overall. It's located in a food-court style area, so you just get your food and sit anywhere in East Commons. It's a popular spot for SDSU students, so you'll definitely be surrounded by college students. Other than that, it's a great place, and I love coming here especially on days when I'm craving a healthier rice bowl.
