I can for the viral Wagyu Shawarma Cheesesteak. It was very tasty with a mix of peppers, onion cheese and sauce. Whatever sauce they used gave it a bit of spiciness. Man I really wanted to like this place due to all the rave reviews. Our first experience was mixed with some meats being great and others dry beef bits that weren't very tasty or appealing. Our second experience we got the chicken shawarma Brian's way. Everything was cooked well, but I guess although I like pickles, I'm not as big a fan of Mediterranean pickles. The first bite or two were actually good, but subsequent bites the pickle tanginess was overwhelming and just not so pleasant as I finished it. I thought maybe I'll get it without the pickles next time. However, after eating I got an unexpected headache that usually comes from ingestion of MSG. The fries were tasty... maybe there was MSG in those? Not sure. I've honestly had much better phenomenal shawarma in San Joes CA. I have yet to find a great Shawarma here in San Diego. I decided to visit this location for a late lunch during the week. I was so busy at work that I had to not had an opportunity to get lunch. I was able to sign off at 330p and head over to this location. The place was empty and there were clean tables and floors when I walked in. I was greeted by the lady behind the counter, and she had a smile on her face. I ordered the beef & chicken shawarma plate, Wagyu Beef eggrolls, and a bottled drink. My food was freshly prepared. I received my order in 7-10 minutes. It smelled wonderful. I paid for extra yogurt sauce and left to take my food to-go. When I arrived home, I enjoyed a delicious meal. Everything was prepared with great flavor, portions, and care. I had the garlic sauce and the yogurt sauce with my meal. This place is one of my favorites. Tried the cream chop chicken pita it Was okay. The Greek salad was good. There is a spice that I don't care for in the meets. I still feel that the kebab shop is so much better. I like their flavors and the let you have complementary sauces rather than having to pay for them. Service was okay. Ambiance clean. I have tried many locations for Shawarma Guys and their food can be a hit or miss. This time, it was a big hit! I loved my Wagyu Beef Shawarma Cheesesteak and would 100% get it again. I thought it was stuffed very nicely, but wished the peppers and onion pieces were larger instead of being small, diced pieces. I think it would've helped to balance the overall flavor as well. However, the meat was cooked to perfection and I was happy with it overall. I know it's a top 100 place, but I think they need to work on their overall consistency across their locations to truly make it worthy of the top 100 spot. read more

Second time at Shawarma Guys. My first visit was about 6 years ago at the South Park food truck, and honestly, I didn't like the food. I remember ordering their bowl, lemon chicken, wagyu egg rolls, and falafel. Everything was just okay.. nothing terrible, but the flavors didn't stand out. I gave it a 5/10 back then. Fast forward to now, I kept seeing people rave about the "Shawarma Bryan's Way," so I decided to give it another shot. I was meeting up with my cousin at the La Mesa location and even told her beforehand that I hadn't liked it before but it had been 6 years. I spent over $65 and ordered two Wagyu Shawarma Bryan's Way, a Philly cheesesteak, and (again) wagyu egg rolls. After the first bite of the crispy Wagyu Bryan's Way, I immediately remembered why I didn't like it the first time. The beef seasoning was way too overpowering. The crispy pita was actually really good, but the beef just didn't work for me. If the seasoning were toned down, I think it could be really good. My cousin and I was disappointed and we ended up going to eat at another place afterwards. Mind you, we love shawarma wrapped but just not here. Second time here, and unfortunately, it'll be my last. First time trying this restaurant. We ordered take-out on a Friday night. We ordered a waygu beef egg rolls, a chicken shawarma plate, as well as the waygu beef shawarma plate. The egg rolls were delicious. They were drizzled with a garlic/yogurt sauce and served with tangy and yummy dipping sauce. Both shawarma plates came with the following sides: parsley tabouli, hummus, and rice. The waygu meat was moist, tender and had a hint of smoke. The chicken was also tender and moist, delicious! Sadly when we got home, our meal was missing the Naan. I got the chicken and wagu beef plate with rice, salad, and hummus. The chicken and beef were super flavorful and not dry at all. Food was good, but they have no business charging $22 bucks for one wrap. We got 2 wraps, one was the cali wrap with Wagyu. The Wagyu is sliced really thin, and overall was just ok, not the best in America. Also, we ate in, but you have to order from a screen, then when your order is ready, you get exactly 1 napkin per customer, mind you, we were having a $55 dollar lunch for 2 people there, and had to ask for extra napkins, and the sauces aren't free. They are treating their brick and mortar almost like their food truck system, but when you're dining in you expect a bit more on the service front, like napkins and condiments or sauces, etc. Overall not worth the money, would rather just go to the Kebab Shop. read more

Solid place for Mediterranean. We came on a Saturday around 7 and it wasnt too busy in the restaurant but there were a lot of people doing takeout. We ordered and probably waited close to 30 minutes for our group of 8 people to all get our food. So definitely not a super quick option if you're limited on time. This time I got a half salad ($9) and added chicken ($5). The salad size was actually pretty good and was filled with ingredients. If anything they skimped on the chicken for the price. Just a handful of thinly sliced shawarma on the top. We were initially contemplating eating there but it wasn't great for a large group so we took it to go. read more

Tried the shawarma wrap (Brian's way) so that it's crispy. Soooo good! Super crispy and super flavorful. I asked for the pickles on the side which was the right way to go so you can add as you go. The only thing is that there's always this grainy texture I get every time I eat the beef. I don't know if it's the meat or the sauce. Still pretty good and I will definitely come back. We also go the Philly cheesesteak which was so good! The right amount of sauce and meat with cheese on top. There's a hint of spice because of the jalepenos in it. I was in the mood for falafel, and so my husband did a search and found this place. We placed our order online before we got there and then waited for them to actually make the order. I got the falafel pita wrap type sandwich. It was extremely salty. And I think the salt was coming from the pickles. There was a lot of dill pickle in the wrap and I usually am a fan of pickles, but this was almost too salty for me to eat as a matter of fact I couldn't finish it. My husband got the Wagyu steak pita wrap, and it was very flavorful. Very good. The steak was so soft and tender, and seasoned perfectly so if I went another time, I'd probably get that. The establishment is assuming from the outside. It's at the end of a dated strip mall with a few parking spaces out front and but in the inside is new and clean and bright and welcoming. The wagyu beef and chicken shawarma plate was packed over a bed of yellow basmati rice with a side of hummus and tabouli. Meat was well seasoned and juicy, I made mini sandwiches with the pita bread. I've been here a few times and nothing I've had misses. My favs are the beef egg rolls and chicken ones, flavor profiles on those are phenomenal. The hot sauce and lemon cilantro sauce is very good on anything. We've had the beef and chicken schwarma plates and bowls, you can't go wrong with either. We've tend to order ahead of time so it's ready when we get there, but folks behind the counter are very kind and quick. Restaurant parking is small but I've never had issue with getting a spot. Can be somewhat pricey, but well worth in my opinion, and you generally will get more than one meal out of a plate or bowl.
