I spoke to 3 other auto body shops in the area and none of them gave me the time of day. I found Kurth's on google and they were extremely helpful. I had them place a hitch on my 2019 Equinox and they did a excellent job! I didn't know Mr. Kurth but the new owners Pete and Calvin were incredible kind and helpful. They were very detailed and transparent around costing and the work they would have to do to complete the job. It truly was a hometown feel. Lastly, I appreciate Pete and his missionary work in Haiti with his wife and 4 daughters. Very cool story and exactly someone you want to work with if trust is important to you. Journey Auro Repair is the same company as Kurth's Auto Repair according to my receipt. The synthetic oil change coupon for $49.97 is a scam, as they charged $92.49 then subtracted $20 for the coupon - with no explanation other than I approved a charge of $10 when I left my vehicle for their up-charge for a better oil filter. So $60 + tax is what the bill should have been. So there is about a $10 charge that they just added on. They also said my vehicle needed $1,000+ work, but when I declined and tried to print that quote, it would not print or give me details anymore. They also would not print it for me. They wanted me to approve work without letting me have a printed copy of their quote with the descriptions. When I went outside to find my car, it was no where to be seen. They had it parked about a block away! They don't have enough space to give good service. They don't want to schedule appointments but rather have you leave your car in the morning. They did offer a ride because I live close, but that doesn't make up for the frustration of not honoring the $49.97 coupon and not giving me a printed copy of the $1,000+ work they wanted me to approve and sign. My experience today was enough that I will not be going back to Journey/Kurth's Auto Repair. read more

Finding a good mechanic can be like finding a needle in a haystack. I found that needle with Kurth's Auto Repair. After getting burned by a dealership (whom I will review later), and paying an exorbitant amount for services my car did not need, I was ready to get a manual and start repairing my car on my own. Well, if I had that kind of time... George Kurth and his son (along with several employees) run this business out of a small garage in New Hope. By garage I mean the professional kind; it's not a home business. But Kurth's really cares for its customers--they give you the bottom line--both with pricing and what the problem seems to be. In the mechanic world, honesty is hard to come by. I have recommended Kurth's to both family and friends and my dad and uncle (both former mechanics themselves) take their vehicles in for maintenance here. I am a teacher near Kurth's and decided to take it there after my car wouldn't start in the parking lot. They came and towed it and looked at it very quickly. The best part about this repair place is that they are honest and friendly. It's really hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust. I almost don't want to review Kurth's; selfishly so I won't have to fight for an appointment! George and family have always treated me like just like family. I've taken both vehicles I've owned there and never been given the runaround, unnecessarily upsold, nor nickled and dimed about high margin fixes things that many chain stores tend to say you need; when often you likely don't. This has been assuring as both of my vehicles are older with higher miles which tends to draw out the the laundry list of fixes from other shops. Thanks again everyone! We had always trusted George and his sons with our cars. When George retired and sold the business we gave the new owners a try. My husband's car wouldn't start, so we had it towed to Kurth's. We were told that it was the starter. This was on a Friday and they said it would cost around $450 and they might be able to fix it Monday, no promises. I went online and found YourMechanic.com. They were cheaper and they also come to you 7 days a week. When we called Kurth's to tell them that we were sending the tow truck back to pick it up, all of a sudden they could fix that day and for less money. I don't like mechanics who play games with pricing and scheduling. Our new mechanic came to our home Saturday and got the car running in an hour. They also do a free 50 point inspection and give a 12 month/12,000 warranty on all services. Not going back to Kurth's. read more

I have taken all of our cars here at least a few times. We had a car that was leaking like a sieve when we brought it back to get it fixed. They replaced the wrong hose even though they had diagnosed the problem themselves previously. I passed on the fix at that time. That cost us $200 to replace the wrong hose while we still had the other leaking. We also have a car with an electrical problem that they could not figure out. We were referred to another guy. Fast forward. Brought in another car because it wouldn't start. Said they did all kinds of diagnostics and charged me $72. My car broke down again. Brought it back in and they sent me to the Ford dealership. It took $96 for the dealership to diagnose a bad battery. The most simple thing. A BAD BATTERY. Did Kurth not even test the battery? Now I am out $168 in diagnostics total for just a bad battery. This makes me sad because the people at Kurth seemed nice. It's a nice cozy family place. I'm not sure what's gone wrong but they are always really busy, so maybe they just get overwhelmed and miss things? Or maybe they can't diagnose extensive problems? Sorry for this but we're out several hundreds of dollars over three cars. I need to leave this review. I hope you have the five star experience everyone else seems to have but we haven't. read more

I brought in a newly acquired used car for a maintenance checkup. The good: Professional, courteous. The Bad: Expensive - in most cases anywhere from 45% to 75% more than similarly rated repair shops. In my case, they were also sloppy leaving broken parts in my engine. Added to this my car sounded much worse when I left than when I took it in. This, they said, was due to a cracked intake manifold cover which was not discovered until the 3rdinspection after the work was done. Oh, and by the way, that's another $1900 to fix. So now after spending almost $1200 at their shop I get to drive around with a rattling engine. I recommend taking them up on their free inspection then calling around for pricing which I only did on half the work, unfortunately. Note, this is a flat-rate garage so they charge by task not hourly making it somewhat hard to compare pricing, but other shops will give you a better breakdown of costs. read more

Oil leak, Kurth's Auto Repair did a total diagnostic on the car and determined it would cost $1,200 to repair the oil cooler (a $40 part). Took it to another repair shop and they found the problem was just that the oil filter was loose. A zero dollar repair. Do not recommend this shop - scam read more

The only place that I will take my car. Very friendly and helpful staff- it starts with George and continues with his son and the rest of the employees. They will do the right work and do it right the first time. I had an issue with my battery over the winter- car not starting on the really cold days. It did start on days that were above freezing though. Brought the car in and they checked it out. The first tests came back fine, but they ran a more strenuous test on the battery and it was borderline between ok and worthless. No extra charge for the more in-depth testing and had a new battery in by the end of the day. Can't recommend Kurth's enough! read more

As many of the other reviews can attest, Kurth's is the only shop I would ever bring any car into. I really wish we had found out about them sooner. Both my mother and I drive old, beater cars so we often find ourselves needing repairs. Each time we've gotten something done at Kurth's, it's been a fraction of the cost it would be at other repair shops and they only do the necessary repairs (if that's what you want). This is one of the most honest, reliable and trustworthy companies out there, not just in the auto-mechanic industry but in general. They really have integrity and I've never gone in there and felt like I had to have several repairs made; which is great because I know absolutely nothing about cars. I only wish we had known about them all along, they are phenomenal! If I were to move out of state I honestly think I'd make the trek just to get my car repaired at Kurth's. read more

I've gotten a couple cars fixed there over the last couple years, for everything from an annoying squeak to a transmission check. Every time they have been friendly, quick, and reasonably priced; however, the thing I love the most is that they are completely honest about what is or isn't wrong with your car. There's been a couple times I can think of that they could have sold me something I didn't need, and instead told me the truth instead of running up the bill.
