I don't even know where to begin, but let me tell you--I hadn't pursued dental care since my late teens (I'm now in my mid-50s) due to a crippling dental fear that made me endure pain rather than visit a provider. At my wit's end, I searched for a dental office that could accommodate my phobia. I happened upon Artisan Dentistry and booked my consultation. I was visibly shaking and dizzy (literally!) with fear as I made my way to his practice and chair. (The office is beautifully and calmly decorated, and his staff is wonderfully trained to deal with us "chickens.") Dr. Mathew immediately greeted me warmly and asked me to talk about myself and my history. He has wonderful bedside manner and is quite gregarious--he genuinely enjoys a good chat. We just talked for about half an hour to an hour, and together we decided to take some careful steps forward. I asked about full sedation, and he was completely open to it and any options I wanted to pursue. I could call the shots at any time and switch sedation plans. He gently suggested that I start with a few teeth cleaning sessions using topical anesthetics and Novocain as needed, guaranteeing that I wouldn't feel anything. I went in for my cleanings, and it was exactly as he described--I didn't feel a thing! Here was the turning point: I asked him point-blank, "So I had some Novocain during my cleanings--is that what you would use if we didn't do sedation dentistry?" "Yes," he said, "the same type of pain management for each part of your mouth that I work on." I said, "You know what? Let's try it." That decision changed everything! For all the massive work that was done, I wasn't sedated in any way! Let me tell you, I've had major work done, and his priority was always pain management. Dr. Mathew literally changed my life by showing me "here is what a medical professional can be." Since being under his care, I no longer fear having minor medical procedures done in other doctors' offices. It turns out my epic teeth issues were only symptoms of the real problem: my fear of dentists (and medical professionals), the perceived loss of control, and procedures that were unknown to me. Yes, Dr. Mathew is at the top of his technical dental game--this is obvious (he loves to talk about the many seminars and practicals he still attends and the new things he's learned)--but for me? His ability to help people like me overcome life-long fear-based obstacles. He removed (extracted, lol?) my fundamental fear. I can't say it any clearer than that. He has done nothing short of changing my life. Oh, and as for my new dental work? The best compliment I get is how nice my teeth look and that I must be hawkish about brushing. More money than average, but latest equipment. They are pretty pushy when it comes to looking for money. I actually had to hold back laughing at this particular dentist (gold miner), it was so obvious. Pros: Office is very clean. Staff is very friendly & helpful, hygienists are very good, but the Dentists... VERY pushy. If you bear that in mind (and don't take their pushy methods too seriously), they're okay. These two con men squandered and stole every cent I could have saved. The implants seen in the photo at 11 and 1 o'clock were put in for no reason. It has been 9 years now and they have never been attached to the denture and used. Burliss took medical advise from Gordon (who was never licensed to do this work) to drill 2 more holes in my head to hold the denture in place. Burliss recommended Gordon knowing he had no experience at reconstructive dentistry but yet took his advice and did it. It gets much worse! Had Gordon not been off by a staggering 9mm the dentures would have held in just fine. In fact, this picture was taken Dec 2017 and since then I have had only 3 implants holding the denture in. The implant at 2 o'clock had to be removed, it didn't even last 8 years what a shame! If you want a great audio of what it will be like once these 2 scam artists get done with you and lifting the money from your wallet listen to The Doors Absolutely Live song called Backdoor Man. Listen to the first 10 sec of the song...that is exactly what you will be doing! I have showed these pictures to both Burliss and Gordon. He hangs up on you. Neither had the balls to man up at the start of this nightmare and be done with it.

After cracking a…read moretooth and learning that my molar needed to be removed, I was understandably anxious -- like most people, dental work isn't exactly my favorite activity! Dr. O'Neill was extraordinary from start to finish. She took the time to fully explain the entire process and even used a camera inside my mouth so I could see everything clearly on a large screen. Being able to understand exactly what was happening made me feel informed, empowered, and much less nervous. She also referred me to a fabulous oral surgeon, which made the whole experience seamless. After the extraction, I had stitches that were hanging as my mouth was healing. I called her office, and she graciously and quickly fit me in to take care of it. That level of responsiveness and care meant so much. Dr. O'Neill is not only highly skilled, but truly kind and compassionate. Went here a few years ago for a tooth implant, and after the experience had I been on Yelp would…read morehave been hard pressed to give more than 2 or 3 stars. But recent visit was much more positive. I managed to crack a lower first molar that already had a crown on it. The tooth was not salvageable, so my dentist pulled it and when it healed I was referred to Dr. Van Heukelom for an implant. The process itself was fine, as long as you're not squeamish. However, I've got a funky immune system and developed what I was sure was an infection but as I don't typically register a fever or other common signs of infection and pain meds weren't helping, I was told it was nerve endings regenerating. Nope, face finally ballooned out and required lots of antibiotics to resolve. Concern was possible damage to the bone and loss of the implant. Turns out the upside to my heavy duty clenching are really strong jaw muscles which gives my mandible excellent bone density. Had to return recently after being at my dentist for a cleaning. He noticed some possible bone loss around the implant on X-ray. Went back to Dr. Van Heukelom for a look see. Turns out I was doing more clenching than usual and stressing the bone. She felt it wasn't a critical problem with a bite adjustment to ease the impact. Six months later, all was good. Nice that this was all follow up to the initial treatment and no charge. There are two locations for this practice, in Salem, NH and the other in Londonderry, NH. I have been to both. The Salem office is in an older building, circa 1970s, dark space, narrow corridors, though the exam rooms are double the size of most dentist cubicles. Doesn't strike you as high tech, but they've got the gear to do the work, including panorama X-rays.

Dr. Alexander and the team at Londonderry Oral Surgery both in Salem and Londonderry were amazing. They were reassuring, very helpful answering questions, showed patient kindness. I witnessed one staff member physically escorting a post-op elderly patient to their car, just to be sure he got to the passenger seat ok. The day of my son's surgery he helped my son to the car as well. Also, Dr. Alexander worked him in quickly before he left for college and allowed a couple extra weeks of healing in between just to be sure he would be available to my son if needed. This is the only oral surgeon office my family will use.
