Horseshoe falls was windy and wet! I was worried about dropping my phone. A lot of people start pushing to get to the railing of the ship. Not everyone on the boat is from your tour group. We got on the boat and stood by the side rail of the boat to get the view. My son and I were standing there by ourselves and people start filling in. As you get close to the falls people push you out of the way to try and squeeze in to get their photo. We were literally pushed out of the way. Hence the reason I was worried about dropping my phone. Cave of the winds also an experience but not what I was expecting. Maybe I didn't do my research but, I thought it was something different. The staircase down to the falls was pretty cool, you really get a glimpse of how powerful the falls are. You're right up there next to the American fall, it was very wet and windy. I got a little nervous, if you drop anything, it's gone. Hard to take pictures with hurricane force winds and the amount of water coming at you. Definitely suggest a camera with some sort of a handle or something. Saw a certificate in a gift shop that said I survived the hurricane winds of cave of the winds...had I have known it was going to be what it was I might have chosen not to do this part of the tour. But at the same time it was a pretty cool experience. I have no regrets doing it, just wasn't expecting to get blasted and soaked by the falls!

Sophie was a wonderful guide giving me so much info on the prophet Isaiah that I felt I knew the man. His dedication and devotion to the prophecy was apparent in his artwork. You could feel the passion. Sophie pointed out the symbolism helping me tto see what was hidden in the multitude of color and shapes painted in and on the house. There was so much to take in, every view point looked different. I kept finding new things. I was able to take my time and really look at everything, ask any questions I had and just relax and enjoy the experience. I loved it!

Additionally, it starts at 4337, not 4317 Queen St. prices remain the same, though. Our guide, Linda, was prompt at 8:30 for our small group of 8. Others who showed late decided to come another day. Linda is a history buff, but within her close to two-hour tour you learn she grew up in the area. As a young teen in the 70s, she would sneak out with her friends at night to get around the old buildings and spooky ghosts. She, later in life, would then cull a lot of public records and newspaper articles to learn the history of many of the old buildings and the stories about who owned them and who died in them. She then had something to say about each building we walked by. Some now owners don't want anything said, some have had tv shows feature them, and sometimes newer generation family members of those she had talked about on tour have been on the tour. There are some places she will not stand - she'll tell you on the tour why. Unfortunately, a lot of these formerly grand buildings have been abandoned for decades. Overall, Linda likes what she does, and knows what she is talking about. She tells her stories in a pleasant way and was very easygoing. She has been involved with séances, and has run overnight ghost haunts. I'm not so sure I'd be into that kind of thing. Maybe? So there are reported ghosts and sightings and feelings and haunts. Linda believes and will gladly tell you about it. It's cool. $65 Canadian including tip for 3 adults, 1 kid. Kids go to age 13.

It's a 2 hour walking tour, and you'll stop at various buildings to learn about the who, what, when's of what went down there. For example, you will stop at a building and hear about how organized crime controlled laborers local 210. You will see where certain made men were gunned down. Explore Buffalo is a nonprofit run by volunteers; be kind and leave a tip if you enjoyed your tour! Chloee made herself available to answer questions one-on-one and also in the whole-group context. She included some suggestions for follow-up activities, including a visit to Graffiti Alley. The falls are amazing but when you ride right up to the falls and you can see them from water level there's just no describing how awesome and powerful nature is! The lines actually moved really quick especially for the amount of tourist that were there. The boat ride is around 20 minutes. The view of the falls from the American side is really good as well when you're riding by. If you're on the American side you can do the Maid of the Mist boat ride, they both take you to the same spot. American boat rides were blue ponchos while the Canadian side wears red. Great for an individual, couple or the whole family! Was not disappointed at all.

It was super easy to locate the meeting point for the boat. As soon as we walked past the main downtown area we saw the blue arches showing Niagara City Cruises. Online there was a disclaimer that even though you are booking a specific time you may need to wait past then to get onto the boat. We arrived at 10:20 for our 10:30 cruise and were promptly beginning out walk down towards the boat at 10:31. When you get to the meeting point for the boat you join a queue that then goes into the lift that will take you down to the boat. There are 2 lifts running at the same time so this process went quickly. Once we made it off of the lift we followed the signage for the departing boat. Before we joined the next queue to get onto the boat employees were handing out ponchos that were included in the ticket price. At this point there was a stand selling snacks and drinks. We did not take advantage of this at this time, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food. We conrinued to head towards the next queue which would lead us onto the boat. We had the option of riding on the top of the boat or the bottom, and we chose the top. It was quiet crowded up there but it did seem like no matter where you stood you had a view-and you were going to get soaked. We were absolutely drenched. They take you right to the bottom of the falls. It was an amazing experience that I am so glad that we did! After our trip I watched the later boats going to the falls and I was shocked at how close the boat actually takes you. At some point the most from the falls was so thick I couldn't see. It felt like we were in a rain storm and we were all cracking up and how crazy it was. This tour is 20 minutes which seems like the perfect amount of time to get drenched. We saw both falls, and no matter what side of the boat you are on you are going to have a great experience. Getting off of the boat was quick and easy. They offer recycling for the used ponchos. When you continue on you will run into the food and drink stands as well as ample seating and restrooms where you can regroup before continuing on. They do take your photo before you get onto the boat, and you have the option to buy it for $50 CAD. This include 2 8x10 prints and a digital download. They do add fun backgrounds to the photos, and they do look like there was some kind of editing done to make the image look a little finer. Converted to USD I thought it was a good price for a great souvenir. I will be hanging the photo in my house! We had very little interaction with the employees, which I feel was a result of them operating efficiently. We didn't have any hold-ups from the time we arrived to when we exited. At the end you queue for the lift to take you back up to the original booth for Niagara City Cruises. From there you can simply keep walking and enjoy the view of the falls from the trail. Quick, efficient, and no frills for a fair price.
