It really is tough to find bad Caribbean food and I certainly didn't find it here. Hole in the wall in Stone Mountain. Just finished a couple of laps around the mountain and was starving. Stopped in for some to go food. The lady who greeted me was friendly but not much help. Asked for a chicken recommendation (brown stew, stewed, jerk, or curry) and she wouldn't even tell me which was most popular or which she preferred, so I just picked one at random and got the brown stew chicken. Loved it. Tons of flavor, slightly spicy, with delicious rice and peas and coleslaw. I got a small and note for you all-a small is plenty for a good meal. Would have preferred more chicken but I did get a small (there was still a lot of rice though). Regardless, I didn't leave a crumb. Doesn't look like much but worth a stop. read more

I called up nice Mon 7:30pm and asked "hey when do you close" answer " now,but what would you like and how far away are you" Ordered 2 large oxtail plates and 1 large curry goat. The goat was not full of bones and definitely tender seasoned not as spicy as I love my goat but, That's what pepper sauces are for. The veggie was a mix of cabbage and greens. Was in the area and had mapped out restaurants nearby where I was visiting. Just from the name alone I knew it had to be good and after checking the reviews I said it seems to be worth the try. So glad I tried! They were out of the meat patties but that's OK because I plan to try this restaurant again in the near future. I couldn't decide between the oxtails and spicy goat and I think I ordered the small for both and if that's the case their small is HUGE. BOTH plates were amazing! Spicy goat had the perfect amount of heat. The plantains only two pieces were ripe. I wonder if they offer this as a side. Comes with rice and peas and a salad. The only other place I go for BOMB oxtails is Creole Orleans Catering in Greenbriar Mall food court. Also ordered a mango juice/smoothie drink which was really good. The lady (I believe she was the owner) said they order their juices from the market or somewhere nearby. In town on Vacay, was recommended this place by a few people. They are located in Decatur...I was in midtown and they were closing in a hour. I called to place an order for pickup and mentioned I didn't want to drive in that direction if they were about to close. The nice lady said to still come and I swear that plate was full...a salad with vidalia onion dressing, flavorful well-seasoned oxtails and plantain. A friend recommended me this months & months before. I had just finished walking up/down Stone Mountain. Upon completion, I had just remembered that recommendation and was nearby. I ordered their Jerk Chicken (I got the large size) along with brown rice/beans and plantains. Man I can tell the marinate their chicken for weeks! (Ok I'm exaggerating but you can really tell). Lunch with the Bestie on Monday's is usually Applebee's because it's close to her office but I'm so tired of Applebee's. I wanted something different and I wanted my favorite Cuisine. Jamaican food! The address on Yelp is incorrect as it took us to "Nowhere". When the GPS said "you have arrived" and we were on the side of the road with no buildings, nothing but a privacy fence surrounding an apartment complex I was totally confused. So I called the establishment and was told to come to 663 Main Street, Stone Mountain and that she had tried several times to get the address corrected on Yelp but it just had not happened. Anywho, it was only 3 more minutes away so we drove over to the restaurant and went inside. Should we sit? Should we stand? I don't know what we should do. We're just standing there with the young lady behind the counter looking at us. I finally ask "do we seat ourselves?" and she says yes. So it's a very casual restaurant the food was very good. what I really like is that the patties,(beef,chicken &veggie at $1.95 each) are made from scratch. Not the frozen reheated patties. I really enjoyed that. I was not disappointed with my meal either. I had a large oxtail meal for under $14. My plate had rice and peas, a big portion of oxtails that was cooked perfectly along with some plantain. The oxtails had some heat to it, like the scotch bonnet burst (I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy foods). Oh yeah, a side salad was given as well. All in all the atmosphere is very casual. You can tell that the visitors that stopped in have been there time and time again. There was a table next to us full of gentleman that most likely met weekly at this restaurant. Seems to be a standing appointment. The staff is very nice and although I had to ask for things like water and napkins more than once, I still won't hold it against them because it's just the nature of the family style Jamaican restaurant. One of my fav foods is Jamaican so when i saw the reviews on this place I had to try it out. I can definitely agree this place is authentic. I ordered the spicy curry goat and it was delicious. It was suppose to come with potatoes though and i probably had 1 lol. The plantains were perfect. Lord knows I hate over-ripe plantains but these I could've eaten more. Same thing for sweet plaintain. Sometimes it's not sweet and hard to chew. I've only had take out so I can't comment on table side service. Front counter staff was friendly.
