However Minas kitchen is a close second. They offer smoked turkey as a meat option for those who don't eat pork or beef. The flavors are amazing and the food is always fresh. I like spicy food, however for those who don't, they put the spicy sauce on the side. The service is great. They are so friendly! The ambiance gives you a taste of Africa/ Caribbean vibes. This is our new favorite restaurant. They are a Liberian own restaurant and the food is soooooooo delicious. Portion sizes are enough for two people per dish and they even let you sample some dishes to see if you like them. So to start off I'm West African Liberian to be exact and to be honest it's not much places that you can go to get good African or Liberian food. But whenever I don't feel like cooking I know I can go to Mina's kitchen the staff is nice and they make sure you get what you ask for. The food here is descent and it caters to some of metro Atlanta largest west African communities. The food is served rather quickly averaging 15 mins and sometimes they have live music playing from time to time. The staff is friendly and they conduct themselves in a very professional manner last time I visited it's not that popular with westerners but it is popular with many Africans. I would recommend coming here to eat as in introduction to West African cuisine. If there was some criticism to make here they need to focus only on Liberian cooking only because that's where the owner is from. I still can't believe that today was my first time trying Mina's Kitchen's delicacies! I have definitely been depriving myself without knowing! I ordered the fried red snapper (+ red sauce) with Jolof rice and plantain. When I tell you everything was TOP NOTCH! The best fried red snapper I've had in a long time, generous portions and seasoned very well. This was my first time trying West African cuisine so I may be a little biased in my review, but this food was AMAZING! I read a novel a little while ago that was set in Nigeria and the descriptions of the dishes made me find the nearest West African restaurant to try these dishes for myself. I arrived with hopes of ordering a Ghanian dish that came highly recommended by my West African friends called "Palm nut soup", but unfortunately the restaurant was out of this dish when I went. So instead I ordered a Nigerian staple, Pepper soup... It did not disappoint! I'm a big soup person anyway, so the rich and savory broth and huge pieces of meat immediately won me over. I also added some of the hot sauce that the waitress gave us for an extra kick. As a side, I ordered jollof rice. SO GOOD. I'm actually upset that I've waited this long to experience the deliciousness that it is. To top off my experience, the waitress was so nice and helpful. This is a warning! The food is less than mediocre. I've been to several African restaurants in the Atlanta area and this is by far the worst! My boyfriend ordered the assorted meat with jollof rice and we were disgusted with what came out.The assorted meat isn't assorted, the Jollof is ketchup and rice mixed, absolutely no taste! I ordered the cassava leaf and it was simply OKAY. Nothing impressing about the taste of it. I've had cassava leaf plenty of times to know what I had was a watered down version of it. If you're drunk and or just desperate to eat anything, then this is your place. Those of us that value what we consume and value our taste buds would never been seen eating that this establishment. This place I walked in the service was horrible. The server was rude. And didn't have the full menu available. They had NETS EVERYWHERE! Not pleasant.. the wine was okay by far the best thing I had here. I got egusi it was definitely one of the worst I've ever tasted. Tasted like tomatoes paste. I have ordered from here many times, usually it is pretty good. First time going inside today though. I had previously noticed that the portions of the meat have decreased. Still decided to go for it though. The service provided today by the young lady in front was absolutely poor. She has an attitude issue, no sense of urgency, and she's simply not welcoming. She's cold, not warm. She needs to be in the back if she's going to be apart of the business. People may not always be in the holiday spirit to allow nonsense to slide. read more

The food at this place, is great!.. If you are a foodie, and/or love international cuisine , this spot is for you. The menu is diverse have so many varieties of foods and flavors to try, I am sure you won't be disappointed. The greens, the jolloof rice, the African Chicken Peanut Stew, the everything! The only thing disappointing part is that sometimes they run out of what you want, because everyone wants what YOU want! If i could give this place a 0000!! I moved here last here and been eating to this restaurant once Monthly whit my husband always okro or egusi soup or goat pepper soup. - first from last here the price showed on their menu online and actually price in restaurants are different . 5usd difference ( they said price online haven't been updated ) it's been almost 2 years!! Come on now! - then when you call to place an order they don't answer. Had my order picked up today and while waiting I had someone call just to check if they will answer . They waiter was sitting there doing nothing in particular but chooses not to answer the phone . - today we got 2 order of Okro soup. Got the first order and then asked to wait 20 minutes to get the second order . For something supposedly coming from the same pot I found it weird. - got it home and that thing just STINK!! oMG , I let slides so many of bad order that this was too much. If you don't want to have a restaurant just close it, if soho ever at the reception don't want to work just quit. But taking advantages of people money at a prime price is unacceptable . I went to Mina's Kitchen last night with a group of friends to partake in their West African cuisine. We chose Mina's primarily because we had two guests from Liberia in town. The majority of our table has been to West Africa and therefore had high expectations for the food. That said, the food was pretty great. Our table had a mixture of Liberian and Nigerian foods. We had fufu, cassava, tilapia, dodo (plantains), groundnut soup (very spicy), and cow foot... the place is not particularly vegetarian friendly... I don't necessarily recommend the dining experience itself- it is one room without any sort of ambiance. And we had a significant wait for the food to be prepared -- they made it on the spot. All in all -- we approved of the authenticity of the food and it was quite good. If you are indeed Liberian - bring your own peppa. read more

Went to this place for the first time last night and it was awesome. The people were very friendly and even better the food was DELISH! My boyfriend had ate there before so he recommended we go to try the spinach and cassava leaf. The fish was crispy and flavorful not too seasoned and not to fried to the point it only taste like grease. The peppers were HOT but I'm not really a spicy food eater. This is definitely some of the best African food in the U.S. We had cassava leaf, egusi, and potato leaf. All was great! The reason that I gave 4 stars is because when the bill came it was not reflective of the prices on the menu and I was not told about the change in price until I asked why the bill was higher than the price on the menu. Further the bill that was brought to the table did not have the tax included. When I went to the register I was given a new bill with the tax included...which is how I should have received it the first time. This might be ok for someone else but its unacceptable for me. Will this stop me from returning? Definitely not! I will confirm the price before I order. They should have honored the price on the menu...that was the right thing to do but outside of that the staff is pleasant and the food is great. I can work with that. read more

I wanted an authentic West African food experience and I found Mina's Kitchen. I ordered as take-out the Jollof rice and chicken for $15.00. I was very disappointed when I saw the dish. The container was mostly rice and a few very small pieces of chicken. I spoke to a very nice woman and she said, "Oh there are two types of Jollof, if you have time, I can cook more for you with vegetables in it." I declined her offer because I needed to get home. She insisted that the rice I ordered was made with organic peppers and onions. She also told me that the chicken was organic. She went on to say that these ingredients are expensive and even told me how much peppers cost! I told her that $15.00 is a lot to pay for rice and a few small pieces of chicken. My disappointment deepened when I got home, I found only traces of peppers and one tiny slice of onion in the rice. Furthermore, the chicken was dry, tough and tasteless. I met this gentleman from Mali who was very eager to introduce me to his culture.... I love it, as my preference is to eat food that is not typical American fare. He bought some fish, baked with onions, tomatoes, cucumbers in a delicious sauce. Along with cassava and plantans, this meal was authentic and delicious--totally satisfying my curiosity.
