Booyaka!!
Nate C.

It's pretty good. This was my third time visiting and ordering food. On this trip I asked a a little oxtail gravy on the peas and rice and the server said she would put it in a sauce up. When she brought it out, it had 3/4 worth of fat in the container and a little bit of seasoned gravy. In fact, it was so much fat the container top would not close, because it would slide off. So I did without. The peas and rice were tasty and the rice was fluffy. The brown stew chicken was delicious. I'm sure they have other dishes that would blow What I ordered away. I'll look for that opportunity the next time. Photo speaks for itself. Yes I would dine again. Prices are high, a lunch plate of chicken cost 22.00 plus a 5 dollar tip that I added out of generosity. So 27.00 bucks for mediocrity is a challenge to be maintained.

In the 5 years I've lived in Georgia I've been to COUNTLESS Jamaican food spots. I didn't think much of this spot from its outside appearance but when I entered...It felt like I was transported to Negril. The furnishings, the colors, it's a Total chill vibe. I asked for the 1/4 chicken with bread, a jerk patty and some cocoa bread. I remember it taking a minute to come out but WHOAAAAHH waaaaas it worth it! This spot has THE best jerk chicken I've had since I've been in the state of Georgia HANDS DOWN. Sooooo flavorful and falling off the bone. The jerk patty was even crazy dope. It was so good that I ate it by itself and was about to toss the cocoa bread I purchased with it on account of my full stomach but something said...ahhh might as well try it first... The first thing that I noticed was that she placed the patty in a bag I've never seen in a Jamaican restaurant. It was paper on the outside and aluminum on the inside...thus keeping the bread soft and heat intact. Then I bit into it...ohhh my frickin GOD! This place is amazing. Stop reading this and just GO....mic drop.

While in the ATL, my friend suggested we try this place. We ordered the jerk pork bread sandwich which was delicious except why the restaurant does not have ketchup. This was a let down thus the lowered score. Service could have been better as our food too forever to be ready. There were other patrons there who seem to be a bit agitated by the slow service. As for the ambiance, it's was just ok with no real appeal. This is not a date restaurant especially if you are trying to impress. I must add that there was barely enough parking and if it was a busy day one would have to park on the street. Not an establishment I would visit again, plus no support for veterans.

As we arrived, I noticed they had their own small parking lot. We found a spot quickly and headed inside. The interior had a tropical design, and everything looked super clean. We walked up to the counter and saw a sign highlighting online or phone orders, but I asked and confirmed that you can also order in person. I scanned the QR code for the full menu and noticed they also had it posted behind the counter. We weren't ready to order yet, so we let the person behind us go first. After his quick interaction, the staff member behind the counter stepped away for about 10 minutes, which we later realized was to handle his take out order. When she returned, we placed our order. Wifey went with the medium Brown Stew Chicken, and I ordered the medium Curry Chicken. She told us it would be about 5-10 minutes, so I set a timer on my phone. While we waited, we enjoyed authentic reggae music playing in the background, and I noticed a steady flow of people coming in to order and pick up. We waited and waited; it ended up being closer to 30 minutes before our food was ready. We scooped up the to-go bag and headed home. While driving home the good smell of the food was filling up the car. Once home, we unpacked and started digging in. I was impressed from the 1st bite, the chicken was seasoned well and tasted great. When I first opened the carton, I was also impressed by the portion size, but as I started digging in, I realized there wasn't as much chicken as it initially looked. Some of the pieces were bony, so the ratio of rice and peas to chicken leaned heavily toward the rice and peas. Wifey, on the other hand, said her chicken was meatier and just as tasty. Overall, the staff was pleasant, the space was spotless, and the food was flavorful. Although the portions were a bit uneven and the wait was longer than expected, it was still a pretty good experience. We'll most likely try them again, but next time, we'll order ahead and pick it up to offset the wait time. 3.5 Rating

Just expected a bit more food for almost $30 + fees and a 15% tip!! Good food, the attendant was abrupt, but maybe she was stressed.

The food was excellent. I had stew chicken and I bought oxtail for my husband.. the customer service was great. The room was so nice.

Medium Oxtail Plate

This was my first time coming here. The oxtails were fantastic! I also got jerk chicken that was really good as well. I will be back for sure!

No friendly service, parking lot dirty, inside is dark, lastly you must order online only. Would get a .5 star if I could.

A day that includes Jamaican food is a really great in my opinion. But it's not often that you find…read moreone like you'd find other foodie faves. After a visit to Kroger one day and seeing Tropic Jerks next door, I figured I'd come back one day and check them out. Which I did one early weekday evening. First impressions were great when I walked inside. It wasn't a large space, but the huge wall mural of the Johnny Bus was a beautiful sight. The large windows made it nice and bright in there, the pops of yellow, green, and red were all nice touches. Very refreshing! There were two other parties in the restaurant before me so I hopped in line and checked out the menu. It's always so difficult for me to pick out what I want to eat and the specials menu made it even harder. I ended up going with jerk chicken, figuring that I'd be back again to try more options another day. Pricing was decent but I think that I'll try to come during lunch time to check out their lunch specials. After I ordered my food, my name was called about 10 min later and I grabbed my food and headed home. After finishing errands and finally getting home and ready to eat, I opened my takeout box and what a surprise I received. There was no jerk chicken but... OXTAILS? Omg. God favors me so. To the Tropic Jerks team, pls forgive me because I absolutely sat there and ate it lol. I enjoyed them! I'm sure the jerk chicken would have been great but I have no complaints obviously. Next time I go back, I sure hope they don't make a wonderful mistake like that again. ;-)
