I was so excited to have gotten an appointment at Nicha Nails, especially after reading the reviews and having the hardest time finding a half decent nail shop in the area. Unfortunately, that excitement did not last more than 6 hours after having my nails done by Annie. Annie arrived right on time for our appointment, being I was her first client of the day. She is extremely friendly, personable and I enjoyed my time while at Nicha Nails. I picked my colors, sat down and got started. I remember her telling and reminding me the left LED did not work, so I was primarily using only the right one (first chair closest to the entrance). After all was said and done, I paid/tipped her and was extremely pleased with the service and results received. I even went as far as taking a picture as soon as I hopped in my car and wrote a 5 star review. That excitement only lasted several hours when I noticed that my pink colored nails began to chip. Initially, it was only one nail with the slightest chip then that evening I noticed two more nails chipping. On Sunday, prior to her opening I left Annie a phone message asking her if I could change my original appointment date and figured we could discuss my nail issue when she return my call. On Monday, it looked like I hadn't had my nails done in several weeks and was in desperate need of a fill - which I had just gotten done the previous day! At this point, the polish had not only chipped ridiculously but it had also began lifting to the point I could pull the entire color off in one peel - which I ended up doing. I was left with only silver painted nails and unpolished acrylic ones. I called the shop and left another message on Monday, explaining the situation and the current condition of my nails. Since the shop is closed on Monday, I figured I give her time to check her messages and get back to me, she NEVER did. On Tuesday around 3:30p I called the shop and got Annie. I asked what color polish I had used so I could just go pick up a bottle and wait until 2 weeks for my appointment else where. Annie said she was meaning to call me back, which I'm not sure she was at that point, asked me to come in that day which I couldn't bc of work then asked to set up another appointment date with her. As a person, she was really nice, as a nail technician she was not interested in rectifying my nails. Following my nail appointment, I got a massage, grabbed lunch and spent the rest of the weekend relaxing - my hands/nails did ZERO labor. At first I was hesitant to update my 5 star review to a 1; however, I use others reviews and pictures to make my decision so I had to be true to the process. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I paid $35 ($25 fill plus tip) to have a set of nails last less than 24 hours. To say I'm highly disappointed is an understatement. I wish Annie the best and hope that my experience is simply an outlier. I would have most likely given the shop a second chance if she would have taken the time to communicate with me by returning one of my calls rather than me having to track her down. read more

I have been living in El Sobrante for 14 years and I usually get my pedicures in Lafayette or Walnut Creek. Today I decided to get one done here and it was the best decision I have ever made! 1. The guy on the phone was really friendly told me to come in as soon as I want. 2. The menu and prices are shown on the wall - which I love! Not all places offer that. I choose the Luxury option. Their description : sea salt, hot stone massage, hot paraffin wax, marine mask and a hot towel wrap. For $35 3. $35 in Lafayette gets you the most basic pedicure. 4. Mai was the one giving me the pedicure and she did such an amazing job! 4/5 stars for this experience! What caught my eye about this place was seeing the pictures from fellow Yelpers on the inside decor and the work of this place. It's such a cute lil' place with 3-4 mani/pedicure stations with stylish decorations and different types of foliage going on! MAKE SURE YOU CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT! Most of the time it's one lady working by herself but she does an amazing job. I am docking a star off because since it's her and only her with me for 1.5+ hours there was little to no conversations making it extremely awkward. Thank LAWD the TV was on otherwise I don't know what I'd do. I feel if you are mainly working 1:1 with most of your clients maybe try conversing to break the ice to as a way to retain your clients. She was sweet though...just got in to get my nails done and then out. The effort she puts in is definitely A++++ with precision and detail! I have a very good friend who lives in San Pablo and I needed my nails done really badly, so of course, I head to Yelp. I chose this place based off of reviews and how close it was to me. Unfortunately, me not knowing the area too well and having a suck ass sense of direction, I got lost. I eventually found the place after calling and its to the right of Walgreens and across the street from PJ's. It's upstairs from a cleaners. The inside is absolutely beautiful! Very chic and pretty. They offer free water and coffee and have hundreds of polishes to pick from. The only thing I don't like, is that they don't really have color wheels to see the polish on an acrylic nail. So I had to open each bottle to see what it looked liked. They have individual painted nails on like a chicken skewer, but that seemed too time consuming to look at. First world problem, I know. So the lady who did my nails, I'm going to assume is the owner? did my nails. It took longer than usual. (usual fill + gel takes about 40 mins at my normal place, and it took an hour and a half.) She took her time, which I didn't mind at all since I wasn't in a hurry, and it shows. She was really personable and kind and chatted just enough to make me comfortable. I've been going to Nicha Nails for two years now, almost exactly :) Annie continues to do wonderful work at very reasonable rates. The salon is still clean and stylish. And Annie still manages to do my toesies without tickling. I'd like to respond to some of the negative reviews focused on communication issues. So she says things like she's "too busy" instead of "I don't have an opening right now." That's not worth a slam, in my book. Most importantly, the review posted on 1/24/2015 has confused Nicha Nails with somewhere else, for sure. That fuzzy photo is not Annie, and the background is definitely not her salon. The walls are painted my favorite color, so I automatically knew I was going to love it. The wide selection of gel nail polish and regular nail polish sealed the deal. I was amazed at the variety of gel colors that I spent a good 10 minutes deciding what to get. I decided on a light blue. I chose to get the design that was posted in the photos (photo to come). I wanted them round since they were previously square, and I was so happy with the shape. I can't stop staring at them, they're amazing. A tip: schedule in advance! If your are flexible and plan ahead and make an appointment you will have a great experience. If you just want to walk in and have a manicure or pedicure this place is not for you. Customer Service/Friendliness - Any is very accommodating and friendly. With that said, everyone is entitled to have a bad day. Annie is a perfectionist and always does a great job. I went to Nicha Nails for the first time a little over two weeks ago and Annie did an amazing job on my nails! I don't get my nails done often (mainly because the polish never stays on for as long as I'd like it to) but I'm 17 days out from my last appointment with Annie and my toe nail polish is still almost completely in tact; it looks like I got a pedicure done just yesterday! As for my hands- the polish is chipping and whatnot, but it still managed to stay on so much longer than it normally does- I actually still get compliments on my manicure. Another thing that I loved about Annie and her shop was the fact that she gave me one-on-one time with her, making me feel pampered and relaxed while I got my mani/pedi. Annie is warm and her shop is very stylish and inviting. I will definitely be getting my nails done here from now on. read more

1:1 is something I never thought I would see or be able to have at a nail salon. I came here for my first time for a pedicure and acrylics before a Mexican Rivera cruise. I am very pleased with the results. She was so sweet and nice. She took her time and didn't cut me once like other places do sometimes. The location is a bit questionable but she says there isnt anything but a few homeless people walking around the area but no trouble. The salon is so cute with chandeliers and pretty wallpaper. Her card reader wasnt working so she allowed me to run the Raleys to grab cash. She took a picture of my ID (in case I never came back lol) and showed me that she deleted the photo once I returned. We had great conversations. I enjoyed my experience. It is hard to get an appointment as she is only one person, so book well in advance. Make your appointment. As she works solo it is not very convenient to drop in, as the odds of her taking you are close to none. I love the fact that she is always on time with her appointments.
