Cute, old school places that looks like it's been here for decades. Came here with the fam after a beach day and the kids enjoyed their Italian ices. I made the mistake of ordering the Pistachio flavor on a cone, and did not realize it was an Italian ice flavor and not actual ice cream. My first taste of it, and I quickly regretted my order. It was a very strange flavor of ice combination. The kids' cherry and blueberry tasted fine. If you want ice cream (like I did) stick to vanilla or chocolate. I had this Italian ice over a decade ago when they had a stand at Monmouth park and have been waiting patiently to try it again. I finally had my chance yesterday and finally got to go to the adorable little stand in long branch. They had a lot of flavors I am interested in trying (peanut butter, root beer) as well as classic soft serve ice cream but my favorite is cherry ice so I went with that. I chose three: lemon, pistachio, and orange. Lemon and pistachio were my favorites. A friend got cherry, chocolate, and blue raspberry. I love Strollo's, I think the one in Red Bank is marginally better but this location is great. Tons of street parking available in the evening, the parking lot is tight and normally a traffic accident waiting to happen so avoid it if you can. I haven't had their ices but friends have and liked them very much. I normally go with their soft serve which is solid. My favorite is a Vanilla I've cream Hurricane (think Blizzard) with Peanut Butter cups or Oreos, delightful and a good deal at $5.50. Half star off for parking and half star off as recently I had a soft serve that was very icy as opposed to their normal creamy. Stopped in for some ice cream since jt's one of the few things to do during quarantine. Funny thing was we were actually at one of their competitors across the street and they were only taking online orders where you had to basically make your own sundae for $8, no thanks. Anyway, Strollo's was busy for an overcast Wednesday at the end of May but there were tons of teenagers there. Very quick service, 4 lines open to keep people part and plenty of reminders to do so. For icecream, the people here have thought of so many flavors you could only catch at a reduced fat yogurt spot. Here, without compensating for the lack of icecream taste(like a yogurt place) you have the full rich ice cream experience, and full on flavor. Having never been, we went with my wifes go to, a chocolate dipped vanilla. Being that i was so full from another place, i couldnt eat even a small cup of ice cream on my own so we shared. The chocolate used is so deep in flavor, though frozen from the icecream, it still melts in your mouth with every bite. My in laws, also full, decided to combine their favorotes, a vanilla with sprinkles and a chocolate dip, and just looking at it, i thought how have I never seen any one do this before. The place is a legitimate old school, walk up delight. I admitted to the server that we were newbies, needing guidance. She patiently described the choices. Strollo's makes soft serve ice cream, and also Italian Ices. Their Italian ice is not like your typical ice it's much creamier. The creaminess of their ice makes it taste so much better! They have all your standard soft serve flavors and also a flavor of the day. That's the flavor I usually go for. Today I had the pumpkin soft serve flavor, and it was delicious! My only complaint is I wish they had a couple more varieties in their soft serve selection besides just four. Another good flavor when they have it is Oreo. They don't even go over the lip of the cup which is pretty weak considering what you are paying. I ordered a cherry dip just to give it a try and I do not recommend it .
