I told the waitress that it was cold instead of bring precise and saying it was all lukewarm . ordered a Meatball sandwich .. the fries were lukewarm and soft not hot and crispy the meatballs were far from warm and the cheese was no longer even warm, the marinara sauce was just above cold. I sent it back and was shocked when the waitress came back to our table to tell me it was not cold. I quess she stuck her finger into it to check the temperature. The food is surprisingly good, and recipes are thoughtfully put together! The owner is a great guy, who has stopped by our table a few different times to check on us and say hello. I loved this spot ! You would never expect such a yummy, cute place to be in the middle of the desert. Their menu is small but I prefer it that way so that I know the chefs have mastered the menu. They are open from 8am-8pm and I will have to come back and try their nightlife scene. They have the nicest patio outback that I look forward to enjoying a beer in. The food is above average but the love and care the goes into the presentation is a nice change to what I am used to. read more

I heard about this restaurant in the middle of nowhere from attorneys in my office who love to take weekend road trips off the beaten path, and we decided to stop for a late lunch/early dinner on our way back to Tempe from Laughlin, NV. My colleagues weren't exaggerating with their rave reviews - this a great little place with delicious food and totally worth a drive! My husband had a hamburger with avocado and Brie cheese, which he loved, and I had an amazing bowl of French onion soup with a side of rosemary bread. Mmmmmm! Heard great things about this restaurant so we finally tried it. The service was great! Cute little place! Appetizer was really good, zucchini chips and calamari! The wine selections were tasty! Disappointed in the dinner. The salmon was tasty but the veggies were limited and over cooked, and the mashed potatoes were not good. My son had the lobster and shrimp pasta and it was bland and very little lobster. Desserts were good. Had the apple bread pudding and the chocolate cake with ice cream. Hidden Gem! We have driven by many times on our way to Alamo Lake & usually passing late in the afternoon or on a dead run back home.... we now plan to stop at Nichols both ways. My favorite wolf down appetizer is the zucchini chips which are light and fresh (you can tell the fryer oil is clean)! The burgers & salmon are wonderful and the bouillabaisse is SPECTACULAR! At first the bar tender has zero communication. Been a server , simply "hey I gotta take another order be right back." It's all it takes but because we weren't told be staff she is the only server we Asked the other lady to take order she the stated she can't she buses tables but doesn't mind cracking open beers to deliver to tables and eating on there kitchen line where you can see from the bar top. But yet still hasn't washed hands from eating her "meal". I personally served if you're gonna eat wash wash wash you're hands it's less of a factor to be a problem vs dirty hands. Food was great to keep the food have a great servering staff and communication and you're golden. Small spot out in the middle of nowhere, and from the outside (not gonna lie) can look a little sketch. It's not fancy inside, but clean and cozy ambience-I love low lighting. Our server, a handsome young man that we didn't get the name of, was great. We had calamari as the appetizer. We each received a side salad with our meals. I would've never have thought to stop at this place if I was driving by but I must say it is THE diamond in the rough. The inside was like if I was in a simple casual hip Scottsdale restaurant. Bland and blatantly racist Decided to drop in on New Year's Day as we were traveling down through Prescott and this was one of the only places open. A group of bikers followed behind us and were immediately served over my group of three. After waiting 10 minutes my husband got up and requested to put our order in. You can tell who the staff "caters" to, I shouldn't have to even say that we were seated well before. Lunch was average and overpriced, nothing special. This is where the bad rating comes in. My family who was traveling about an hour behind us arrived after we closed out. I greeted them in the parking lot when one went to go get a table. They were told they could not be seated and could not use the rest room. What? So another person in the party went in with the kiddos who happen to be biracial. The waitress asked them "oh, are you with them?" Referring to the kids. They replied yes and the waitress said they had no tables and it would be an hour wait. They had plenty of tables. I hate to accuse people of racism, but it was clear. My husband and I were treated way differently than our guests. Shame on you. Update: As you can see, the own posted a reply to my original content. His anger is clear, shows what kind of establish he runs. Mr. West, Maybe pay more attention to detail? You clearly lack that. I have a series of mixed reviews on this visit.. The service start to finish was excellent. We were taken care of by a couple young men who were witty and very charming, and that made for a fun evening. Thank you! We ordered a whole bunch of different foods to try this for our 1st visit. We started with the calamari, which ended up being the best part of the meal. It tasted very fresh had a nice Chris bounce to it without being chewy. We also had the fried zucchini which is sliced very thin and also felt very fresh. We chose a couple different meals. We started with the Caesar salad which also was excellent. I don't normally like croutons but theirs was very tasty, and added a lot to the salad in terms of flavor. The Pho was a majorly disjointed and a disappointment. It tasted more like a cross between a weak French onion and a misplaced pho. Something I would never order here again! We also ordered the salmon, which was very good and well cooked. The sides were horribly disappointing. Is the mashed potatoes horrible no flavor dried out little a clump of blah! The serving of vegetables was tiny and dried out! We were shocked at both! We also got the lobster noodles, which was fairly bland. The main courses were pretty much an overall disappointment for all of us. We were so excited to come here and left disappointed. But that being said, no full meals complete without trying some desserts. The chocolate lava cake was very typical and tasty, but nothing special or different. The Apple fritter was soggy whisper wasagi and we quit eating at once we finished the 1st couple bites. We're gonna try to come here again and try a few different things things but this was not a strong evening of food. I always prefer to be positive when I try local restaurants local restaurants. Maybe I came in here with too high an expectation. But nothing really stuck out especially it felt like a small town truck stopped diner, which isn't what the bill showed ($150). It wasn't cheap! Wow is right, as a reviewer wrote before me! Our hiking club did the hike at the Hotshots memorial and afterwards we stopped into Nichols West, all of us ready to eat, and they didn't disappoint us. Right away a nice young man greeted us and got us our drinks and went over the amazing menu, so many amazing choices, from the outside it looks like the typical hole in the wall, small town food option, inside it is fine dining with the freshest ingredients. There were 16 of us and we all chose many options from the menu, no one was disappointed. I have the black bean and avocado quesadilla, it was delicious, one of the women had the shrimp ramen bowl and was amazed how fresh and large it was. Our waitress was excellent and took great care of us. This was an amazing stop to a wonderful day, and I will return with family and friends. Thank you Nichols West!! read more

Was referred by some friends to try. I ordered the second most expensive dish. Blue cheese filet mignon medium rare. It Came well done. Waited a long time while I was the only one that hasn't eaten. Still no steak. Finally I was served, it was cook just right but no blue cheese melted on it. I asked and they brought me a dish of crumbled blue cheese on the side. Really. My wife and I eat here often with family as it's a great out of the way spot with fantastic food. Tip: it's always a good idea to call in a reservation as it's sometimes difficult to get seating as a walk in. Our last visit was our first experience where things just were not what they have been in the past and only for me. Everyone in my party said they had terrific food. Mine was not so good, which is why I am giving four stars and not five. Our group ordered the gamut of lunch items, from burgers to tacos and everything else on the menu. I ordered the oyster po'boy and have regretted that decision since. Luckily the sandwhich I ordered came with only three fried oysters or I suspect I'd be much worse off than I am as I write this. The breading on the oyster po'boy sandwich was a perfect golden color but when I bit in, the oysters were cold and uncooked. At this point, I should have known better but powered through them anyway. It took about three hours for it to hit. It started with the chills and violent shivering. And, well, I suffer for powering through bad, undercooked oysters. I skipped breakfast that morning so, it was most certainly the oysters. We love this place and despite my experience this last visit, we will go back. I'll just skip the po'boy from now on. Service is fantastic and the desert is always great, assuming you have room. read more
