I stayed at the adjoining Cobblestone hotel for a business retreat and we had an amazing dinner here the night before. First and most important: they have very clever and interesting craft drinks here and an affordable selection of beers and wines for happy hour. If you're in the area, it's worth it to check Wissota for happy hour! For dinner, we had an assortment of flat breads and blue cheese/bacon fries which were delicious! Dinner for me was a roasted chicken portion (airline cut) in a white sauce. Roasted brussel sprouts and asparagus and mashed potatoes were passed family style. I thought the food was very good and would definitely return! Because the hotel is perched atop the hill, it's a lovely spot to enjoy a cocktail while taking in the awesome views and the stunning AZ sunsets. read more

Went to have a nice dinner but unfortunately when we tried to get seated we were told they couldn't seat us for 35 minutes because they had a couple of parties come in at once (no one was there waiting and there were empty tables) and because our food would take that long to put in and then we would have to wait for it to be prepared... we left..very disappointed with this decision... small town, shouldn't equal small service. read more

Ambiance was lacking and, unfortunately, the steaks were extremely tough to the point that we couldn't cut or chew either of the two we ordered. They were also out of the wine we requested (not a big deal on its own), but then there weren't enough steak knives for our table, so we had to share. Also ordered the asparagus but the chef had not even snapped off the hard stemmy ends off. Very odd. Our server was lovely and the salads were excellent, but for the price point, the overall experience was disappointing. read more

Happy hour review...at 4:45pm this bar was packed, except for outside..it was pretty warm out..mid eighties ..but we took our chances on comfort for the half off wine prices.... 5 dollar Conundrum white by the glass...amazing deal. Ended up ordering two. Hub got non alcohol beer...we got a few bites because they were two dollars off for happy hour. We got the Giant pretzel with beer cheese and the goat cheese balls with jam. Both of these were really tasty... A delightful big cloud came in and made the outdoor experience much better weather wise. This restaurant has a nice view and is perched on top of a mountain connected to a nice hotel. I would come back for the inside experience as well, as it looked rather nice. read more

Outstanding service this evening and food to match. From the very inviting specialty cocktail, a delicious Lemoncello Amaretti Sour, to the deep fried Fig and Goat cheese balls with raspberry coulis, to the incredibly tender and perfectly prepared Scallops in a Orange Burre Blanc, everything about our dinner was perfect. Ambiance is terrible in this hotel cafe at steakhouse premiums. This is the worst steak house I've eaten at in years. Steak was tough and hard to chew or even cut. I highly recommend Wissota! The food is delicious, the atmosphere and views are beautiful and the service is friendly and efficient! We love Natalie and Sutton! Typically we order the burgers! The bacon Bleu cheese sauce is one of my favorite flavors. The Wagu beef burger just melts in your mouth. The burger is huge and I always take half home with me. We have also had the Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese sauce, Mac and Cheese with bacon, and the chicken flat bread that had great flavor. My husband loves the Mule and Old Fashion. We came for our anniversary and had a complementary dessert. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious! read more

Never been to Wickenburg but I'm glad I had the chance. We visited this steakhouse for Valentine's Day and it didn't disappoint. We were greeted with smiling faces and helpful service. We tried the filet and the ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection. A little sad they ran out of mashed potatoes but the fries and Mac w cheese were phenomenal. One of the managers recommended a peanut butter alcoholic beverage that was wonderful. Not sure when I'll be back in wickenburg but for anyone who is there or visits this is a must try. read more

Well to start off, the staff is great, no problems with that, it was the food that fell short, I won't critique every little thing but it's obvious that there isn't anyone in the kitchen that is qualified or actually cares about what goes out to the table. To start off it was Valentine's Day, we were staying at the hotel, and we didn't have reservations so we were not sure if we could get in. The manager advised us that they could seat us on the patio if we wanted dinner, but the dining room was sold out for the evening. It was a nice night, so we decided to do that. Our server was Sarah who was very sweet and informative. We ordered the sauteed calamari for an appetizer, and she made sure to let us know it was sauteed and not breaded and fried. Told us all about their happy hour and explained a few items on the menu. The Bartender also did her best to keep up as she was left on an island by herself on that busy evening. The ambiance was nothing special, but what you would expect from a hotel restaurant. Now for the not so good of this restaurant. To explain a little about my background. I have been in the meat business for 47 years now and kind of a beef snob some would say. I have eaten at some of the nicest restaurants around the country, and some great hole in the walls as well. The person in charge of ordering the meat for this place should be let go immediately and get someone in there that knows what a good steak looks like. That is if you want to continue charging 5-star prices for 2-star quality steaks. I know you advertise Angus but depending on the Angus you are buying the quality is very wide. If it is Angus at all. Then you take that low quality steak and a chef that doesn't know how to cook a steak you get the complaints I see on here from other patrons. I ordered my steak Med / Rare and it came out Med/ Well, wasn't our waitress Sarah's fault it was the chef's fault. We never send back our food we just don't come back to eat. Oh yeah and that sauteed calamari that I've had at other restaurants, yours fell way short, was not prepared correctly, very rubbery. We hadn't been here before but had heard mixed reviews. To say the least we were less than impressed. Our server had little to no personality, the water I think was scooped from the pool so we ordered a soda, they were flat. Everything is ala carte, I had a filet.. it was served on a plate looking less than appetizing. It looked like it had been cooked on low heat in a non stick pan, no char, no juices.. not a sprig of green or garnish to even make it appear like they tried. Flavor was just meh. Not worth the $65 My husband had a burger, and after it was served they told him they were out of both ketchup and ranch. WTH. We did have a slice of carrot cake.. it's the only reason for the 2nd star. For the price of the meal and the overall lack of anything impressive in both service and food we would not return. I was excited to find a high end steakhouse in Wickenburg. Nice build out the restaurant space. We arrived at opening and sat in the bar. Bar tender was super nice, took our drink order. We ordered food, signature pork porterhouse, small filet, wedge salads, Brussels sprouts. Salad was good. That's where the positive review ends. The pork was over cooked, no special glaze, steak was flavorless and the Brussels tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. The bar tender, who was our server, took the chop back to the kitchen and then offered to make another or take it off the bill. I elected to have it removed from the bill. I believe the manager, never identified himself, apologized and offered another chop. Declined and asked for the bill. Food- 1/10. Not good at any price, let alone Scottsdale pricing very disappointing Service- 5/10. Bar tender worked his tail off. It was happy hour and they had small crowd. He tried to handle multiple tables the best he could. The remaining staff appeared to be lost. They were under whelming at best Ambiance- 6/10. No real character or charm. Value- 1/10. MEH.... My wife and I visited on a Friday night, there were only 2 other tables filled in the restaurant. Great we thought, a nice quiet evening. Right off the bat we were greeted with someone that would rather be anywhere but there. We were sat right in front of the kitchen entrance where we constantly were met with a tremendous amount of noise from someone banging dirty pots, dishes right behind its opening. Why they would design the opening to be facing the dining area in a so called "higher end" restaurant is beyond me. Anyway, our server was ok but clearly out of her element. Poor thing was the only one working while the rest of the staff stood around twiddling their thumbs constantly looking at their watches not lending a hand and before you say anything the tables were scattered throughout the restaurant. We ordered soup to start, the lobster bisque, was very good however the fench onion was extremely bland. We had to ask for utinsels & napkins and bread wasn't given until after the soup was delivered. We did like the black Hawaiian salt they served with it. We did appreciate the server allowing us to take our time between courses. We ordered a Ribeye - medium, mushrooms and whipped potatoes. When the food came out, it was all extremly cold and the steak was a bloody rare-med rare. Once again we had to ask for steak knives. No one came buy to check on us and when the server finally showed up we told them how disappointed we were and how the food was extremely cold and to let the manager know. They said sorry, never having anyone come over to discuss further. If you're going to charge $54 for an al-la-cart steak, $7 for mushrooms and $11 for whipped potatoes for 2, the atmosphere should be reflective of a higher quality restaurant, service should be top-notch and the food should be hot! This evening our party of 4 decided to try the Wissota Chop House for dinner. I have to admit I was skeptical as I've always wondered if a basic "meat and potatoes" town would support a steakhouse that charges a pretty penny for their food. The food was wonderful. I had the 5 oz filet and it was flavorful and quite tender. Two of our group had the scallops and were very pleased only wishing that they were cooked just a little more. Another had the New York Strip steak and loved it. The Brussels sprouts were very good and the potatoes were creamy and delicious. The service was very good with a young lady who visited the table numerous times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The ambiance was okay, nothing special. I have to give the whole experience 5 stars as it really is at the top of the food chain in Wickenburg. The thing that concerns me is how will the town support a restaurant that is quite expensive? Yes, during the winter there are quite a few wealthy visitors, but what about the rest of the year? This town likes simple and inexpensive restaurants. I question whether, in the long run, will it attract enough year round customers to justify their existence? I sure hope they do as this truly is a terrific dining experience. read more

We decided to give this place a second chance since the first time was shortly after they opened. The service is absolutely wonderful with the staff, especially Natalie, being friendly and welcoming. The food however, was not good at all. The oysters Rockefeller was unrecognizable, the scallops were overcooked and salted to the point of almost being inedible, the beurre blanc was watery. The filet was good, but the mushroom risotto we shared was undercooked , the rice being hard. I hate to give bad reviews, maybe the chef was having an off day. Last time unable to eat our dinner. The drinks from the bar were horrible and the service sucked! Wickenburg, Arizona -- where restaurants go to die. Not here, though. This one's a keeper. When you come up the hill, the main entrance is on the left side: you'll see outside dining on the left, but you need to enter through the hotel. Look for the green doors, which open to the restaurant. The restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday, and opens for dinner at 4:00:PM; closes at 9:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday; Friday and Saturday, opens at 4:00 PM, closes at 10:00 PM. Food was very good: my partner had the stuffed olives, and the Steak Flatbread I had was delicious. The menu is varied -- and includes some seafood choices. Something for everyone. Meals are served with the main course on a plate, and sides served family-style in a bowl or platter. The other customers who ordered full meals sat at the bar. From what we saw, the plates were clean when picked up -- always a good sign. Our food was delicious. Our servers were very attentive but not intrusive, checked in with us from time to time. Very nice, genuine people. There's outside dining, but with temps hovering at 100°, we chose to remain indoors. It would have been nice to stay after sunset, but we stopped in to say hello, have some refreshments and finger food, then get on with our chores. Too bad, because the restaurant and hotel sit about 100 feet above highway 60, and we were hoping to see the town's lights after dark. (Should be very nice at Christmas.) Our bartender was amazing and truly knows her stuff... a bit of a wonder when making specialty cocktails. She, Kayley, shared her expertise with us about recipes and options... definitely coming back to try them. The bar has a long menu of draft beers, ales, IPAs, and the other side of the drink menu was nothing but wines. I'm not much of a beer drinker -- but I know my wines, and these seemed to be good choices. All in all, it was a great start. We'll be back. read more

We arrived at our hotel after a long drive and decided to give the Wissota Chophouse and Grill a try. What a great decision on our part. We sat at the bar and ordered appetizers. Try the Fried Ricotta-Stuffed Olives; they are unique and crowd-pleasers. Our bartender, Katherine, provided suggestions and made a New York Sour (inspired by Dante with a twist). What was a nice touch, Shaun, the additional bartender, was also attentive to everyone, not just his side of the bar. Great experience, give them a try! read more

We were greeted with friendly smiles. We sat at the bar while we were waiting for our party of eight to arrive. It is a beautiful view of Wickenburg. The two bartenders were extremely attentive. They even let us try some wine before we bought a glass, which was really nice. The evening started out fantastic BUT after our dinner arrived, the waitress never came back. We would have liked to have ordered more refreshments. My husband and a friend had the chicken Marcella, it was beautifully presented. I had a Caesar salad, which also had a neat presentation with a square of bread on top and two pieces of delicately placed anchovies. Our other friends had the hamburger which was small. They said it was good and our other friends had a salad with a side of large shrimp which were jumbo. They enjoyed their salad and shrimps too however, that night about five hours later, my husband and friend that ate the chicken Marcella, were extremely ill and I myself that had the Caesar salad was also. We had gastrointestinal, and dizziness enough to make while you know what happened. Our friend was not staying at our household, in case you're wondering. (this was the first time we got together with our friends in weeks). This was definitely food poisoning. Needless to say we will never go back. Private note to restaurant The chicken marsala and Caesar salad made us extremely sick, and our friend sick that had the same. We (two couples) were there to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary. It was a lovely evening, the food was very well prepared. My lobster was perfectly cooked and the accompanying sauce was delicious. Others had steaks and remarked on the great flavor and quality. Raves for the onion soup, salad and whipped potatoes.
