While visiting a friend we had the pleasure of dining at Jake's spoon. I have the French dip. It was amazing. The only thing I can complain about was the horse radish sauce did not have enough horseradish in it for my taste. It's seems like mostly sour cream. What a beautiful location. It is a community in Wickenburg so there is a gate guard but anyone can eat there. Service was good. Pizza took a little long but it was tasty. I think my spinach was forgotten and added after the fact as it wasn't cooked with the pizza. Hubbies pizza has spinach too and it was cooked on the pizza. Regardless, I got some good greens and didn't mind it, it was just a little messy This restaurant is really beautiful and has amazing views. If I was in the area again, I would eat there. read more

Every time we come to town to visit our friends, who live in Wickenburg Ranch, we asked to go to Jake's. The service is typically good and friendly and we love the views! We have never had a bad meal here. This visit we got the chicken piccata gratin with the green beans and rice and also the prime rib special. Both were very good! So many restaurants overcook the chicken, but the chicken was very tender and flavorful! The prime rib was well seasoned and tender. We will be back again next visit! We have been coming to Jake's spoon for a few years. We have been to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and bring out visiting guests. We live in Surprise so it is a drive. We absolutely loved going to Jake's Spoon. The atmosphere is always welcoming and the views are beautiful. We always had great service. From the mins we walk in the door. The food was always very good. That is why this review isn't one I wanted to make. We made our usual reservation on open door for a standard table. We arrived 15 mins early. When I approached the hostess she asked if I had a reservation I said yes she found it and said you can sit in the bar or a high top. The bar was extremely loaded with regulars who had clearly been there awhile. (I need to sit in a booth as I had a sugary and sitting in a regular chair isn't comfortable.) we took the GIANT bar booth for the two of us. It was awkward to say the least. The booth could easily seat 6 with room to spread out. We noticed the menu had changed but that's fine. I just wanted a steak and salad. My usual, I aways get the same thing. My husband go the chicken pot pie . Disappointing is the best I say about the steak and salad. The steak was perfect on the inside but the outside was burnt and bitter. They were out of the sauce I had ordered with it. Husband said the pot pie was good but not worth $28. He said it was more like soup with puff pastry on top of it. Here is where they went wrong. A lady in a pink sweater came to our table, didn't get a name or what she did asked if they could get me another steak and salad. The restaurant was closing in 15 mins so I opted to not get another plate and my husband had finished his meal. I explained I understand it's busy as we come out often and it's just an off night. The lady reply's with well as of January first we are a private establishment. The community sold enough home that now they can be. With that said we will not be going back in the next three weeks. We were not locals and/or members here so service was kind of lacking, especially the waiter that brought us the food. I totally understand if the restaurant is busy but the place was half to 2/3 empty. Also, I was hungry so camera didn't get to eat this time. French Dip - really good, thinly sliced beef, soft and tender with gooey melted cheese. Just perfect and Yummy. Reuben - way too salty and fatty. Yes, fat, almost more fat than a bacon from the pastrami slices. I am also not sure if the salt was from the sour Kraft or the pastrami but it was totally not edible. My husband said how come everything is salty for you these couple of days. He took a bite and that was it. He gave me some of his French Dip. The worst Reuben I have ever had. read more

Let me start by saying the 4th star was for Shannon, our GREAT! And the view/atmosphere. I started with the cucumber jalapeño beverage. I would not say it's spicy. We added the guacamole salsa and chips, they were OK. And the shrimp tempura, however, the shrimp is very small with a lot of breading. Stopped in on our way from Sun City West to Laughlin. We had never been to Wickenburg before. We weren't planning on a long lunch break but it was so worth the extra time. We didn't know ahead of time that it is a restaurant in a clubhouse of a gated golf community. It's quite beautiful. We split a brunch burger and fries and got a side of fresh fruit. We had lunch at Jake's Spoon today and it was great. We shared a plate of Firecracker Shrimp and I could have eaten another plate of them. My husband had a bacon and cheese burger and he said it was a very good burger. I had the Cast Iron Shrimp and they were just as yummy as the Firecracker Shrimp. Our waiter was Shaun (I think) and he was attentive and helpful. All in all a wonderful experience and a good representation of what the Wickenburg Ranch strives to achieve. Food was good, service was minimal. We sat on the patio, which was lovely; great view, however, after receiving bread and water, we didn't have service for over 15 min. Ended up going to the bar for our first round of drinks. Even after that, tables around us received service before we were ever attended to. Disappointing. We ordered the tuna app, chicken salad, ribeye and lamb lollipops. The lane and rib-eye were the favorites, the tuna fell far short and you could taste the residual freeze on it. This is a wonderful place to eat. We've had lunch & dinner several times and are always happy. Ginny is an amazing waitress and Mo who works in the bar is fantastic. We went last night and ate on the patio (I didn't get our waitresses name but she was wonderful). My husband had the burger & loved it. I had the wedge salad with tuna; it was excellent! The views are spectacular. It was very busy & our waitress was swamped. I made sure to have her tell the chef how delicious the food was. I highly recommend reservations for both lunch & dinner. We went on Thursday burger night. WOW. Great burger at a surprisingly good price point. Gorgonzola and mushrooms, and the burger flavor still came through. My daughter got the berry salad- and it was gigantic! They let us swap out the meat for extra cheese to accommodate her vegetarian diet. The fried rice dish was delicious, but it was not even similar to whatever you might be expecting by that name. It was more like a risotto. Gluten free, dairy free, and delicious. How have I not written a review of Jake's?! Whoa. I live in WR and hang out here often. First of all, ONLY bar in WR. My only boo is that they close at 7pm, maybe 8pm during the week. GREAT SERVICE! The two G's are wonderful, if you go, you know! Pricing is pricey, but it's The Ranch, so.... The food is better than average. I focus on the daily specials...Taco Tuesday, Wednesday Ribs, etc. That's the value plan. It's a great spot and one I do recommend to others regularly. Excellent food and service. The restaurant was uncharacteristically quiet, no waiting for a table (even with reservations) as is usual. Minus 1/4 point for using a Maraschino cherry in the Old Fashioneds. Hint: use the Luxardo brand of dark Maraschino cherries... you get better tips. read more

What a find. Actually the floral shop on 93 recommended Jake's Spoon. At first I rejected the idea of eating at a restaurant that's named for a "spoon." It's got to be a dive right? Like the greasy spoon? What a nice restaurant, with tasty food, good prices, and a million dollar view of the golf course. Jake, I don't care what sentimental reason you have for the name of your restaurant, you are doing yourself and your customers a disservice by keeping it. I protested all the way to the parking lot. "All right, well the view has got to be good. Let's go in and see." Spectacular. The food, the service, and the view were way beyond my expectations. We had a wonderful time at Jake's Spoon yesterday. This was our first time at this hidden treasure and found it just using a search. Our first experience was the delightful server Jasmine. She made our experience superior and one of the finest servers we have ever had ... anywhere! Bright, friendly, informative, hard working and more. It may seem like we know her but I promise you we only met yesterday. Happy hour is great. Reduced prices on starters and alcohol. House wine is delish! Caesar salad was the bomb and the bread rolls are home made. Excellent! Hubby had pizza and I had a starter of steak and fries for $10. You can eat affordable here. They also have daily specials. We have to make a stop at this restaurant every time we are in Wickenburg. Horrible management. Never table talks or greets patrons. Understaffed! A good manager would be out helping the staff. When she does come out from hiding, she won't even make eye contact. Had reservations and sat with 2 glasses of water for a half hour. Finally we had enough and left. This is not first time we have experienced poor service. Jakes is NOT consistent. When it's good it's very good, but when it bad it's really bad!! Raw steaks, actually served raw pork chops! "Trying to kill your patrons "!! warm white wine. I could go on and on, but you get the message. What a shame! We live in Wickenburg Ranch and use to patronize Jakes frequently and would spend at least $150.00 each time. Jake's Spoon is our local go-to place for dinner. They cater to a variety of tastes so the menu is varied. Usually it is satisfactory to very good. But tonight was less than ok. The 10 ounce wine was less than generous. As we left I asked the bartender to show me 10 ounces. I received the 6 oz pour but paid the 10 oz price. The food was just ok. The wings and Caesar salad were fine, the burger was a disappointment. My husband ordered med rare and got raw, and the bun wasn't fresh. The big disappointment were the fries. Their new menu traded the best seasoned fresh fries for cold, rock hard, tasteless waffle fries. Maybe Sunday is second tier bartender and cook night but we will not be back for awhile, even though there are not lots of options in our town. read more

Usually pretty good but today we had to ask for a server because nobody ever came to our table yet the server for the table next to us had time to sit and chat it up with that table and not even look at us.
