New place so I expected some hiccups. Excited to try the pizza and the cheesesteaks. Let's start with the pizza. We ordered a white pizza with ricotta and spinach. This one surprised me how much I liked it. It had a briney, garlicky taste. Overall this was very good and would give this a 4. Also ordered a Sicilian pie with pepperoni and meatballs. This was an epic fail. When you look at my pics you'll see how one whole quarter of the pie lacked any toppings. The part with toppings was good. Sorry this was a 2.5. Pizza with scarcity of toppings is unacceptable. Cheesesteak was very good. In house made bread was good. Meat was tasty. Was not stuffed with meat but tasted good. 3.5 I probably will give it another chance but will wait. The inside reminded me of Pappys on 202 back in the day ( late 1970s). We stopped in on a Sat around noon, the bar was a lot busier than the dining area. I was impressed by the decor, it was like an 80s pizza parlor and Elizabeth's in Greenville had a baby, with a really good playlist. It was decorated for Christmas, very cheery. We got the meatballs and ricotta and a round cheese pizza with half of a side with hot cherry peppers on it and a side of vodka sauce and garlic parm sauce. The meatballs were beefy and the sauce was delicious. Sadly the pizza was more done than I like it. I think if it spent 5 min less in the oven, it would've been perfect. It was very cheesy but the crust was so overdone that I did not enjoy it. The garlic parm dipping sauce was good but I think it could've used a little more parm and some salt. The vodka sauce was PHENOMENAL. I would come back again to try some pasta in that vodka sauce it was that good. The service was perfect. We were greeted promptly, our server was so friendly and attentive. The bathroom was clean and on the way to the bathroom, every employee that I encountered similed and said hello. They also had a wonderful beer list, though it was lacking in sour beers they had more than enough IPAs on draft. I would definitely give this place another chance. Next time I come here I need to ask if they can get me a root beer float in a pitcher. One glass is never enough Bar area is packed! Took us by surprise when we first went in. The place itself is welcoming and felt like home. But the food is the key we both had the cheesesteak. Full of extremely well seasoned ribeye. Just the right seasoning and perfectly sautéed onion. Fries are on point, served hot and enough we had to take some home. Drinks are well made and served quickly. Service was not only very professional but also fun. On our next visit we plan to concentrate on the pizzas. While we didn't try take out, it must also be very very good based on how many orders we watched leave the store. Nick...Great Job! read more

I've tried Nicks when it was in Newport and loved it! We went to the new location on week 3 of opening and were a bit disappointed. They were out of a few things (which was disappointing but understandable). The Caesar salad wasn't very good at all.. not enough dressing and kind of just looked like a grocery store bag salad. The cheesesteaks are definitely one of the best I've ever tried though. The restaurant itself is so cute, love the vintage vibes. Food is good when you can get it. On 2 separate occasions that i have gone in and wanted to dine, they were out of pizza. The service is extremely slow. I have gone in for take out and no matter if there are people in the restaurant or bar or there is hardly a sole in there with exception to the bar, the wait is ridiculously long. last time i picked up cheesesteaks and pizza I got there and they told me they had to remake the pizza making me having to wait longer. Not sure what happened to the original pizza but I had to wait an additional 25 minutes. My wife and daughter and I started our Father's Day weekend celebration by finally checking out the new addition to the Wilmington scene. The reputation and reviews had been impressive, so we were excited to finally get there. The former place that was in the space, Ulysses Gastropub, was a long time fave of both of ours with lots of wonderful and special family memories, and while the physical space is laid out the same, the nostalgic feel and and little touches really help Nick's to stand out. The quotes, movie and music posters, even the baseball cards around the frames of the doors are really cool. We got there earlyish on Friday evening, and were seated immediately. Things got busy quickly as we were enjoying our meal, but the service was great and the food came out perfectly, both time and preparation wise. Our server, Makayla (sp?), was fabulous. Friendly, good recommendations, attentive but gave us our space and certainly never made us feel rushed. Great beer list, with unique and cool craft beer options and an impressive international array available in bottles and cans. Well done! Cocktails looked good, next time! We started with the Cooper Sharp Sticks and the Garlic Knots. The Cooper Sharp sticks were a delicious and smart upgrade from your average Mozzarella sticks, and the garlic knots were like beautiful little homemade biscuits. They were not light and airy like a normal knots, and we enjoyed them. My daughter had fettuccine alfredo with chicken, and she really enjoyed it. My beautiful wife had the thin crust traditional with pepperoni & hot honey - a triumph. I went with the Detroit style with sausage, mushrooms and onions, and it was absolutely incredible. We all brought home leftovers, and all three of us are excited to get back and enjoy another meal sooner as opposed to later. Desserts looked great, also for next time! Probably the best cheesesteak in Delaware. They make their own bread and pack it full of delicious meat and cheese. There is always a long wait. The down side - they aren't very accommodating when they run out of something. They ran out of rolls on our last visit and refused to allow their cheesesteak to be put on another type of bread (I.e. focaccia, pretzel roll, pizza, etc.) without charging $10 + dollars more just for the swap. They wouldn't even charge less for the cheesesteak without the roll. After waiting an hour to be seated, it was very disappointing not being able to order the meal I came for and nit seeing any flexibility on the part of the management. read more

We were there at 930 on a Friday night and the place was still quite full. We were served promptly though. I enjoyed their wine. The fries were a bit boring, but the cheesesteak and pizza were very tasty. For their pizza, they don't have templated pizzas at all. You choose every single one of your toppings. Definitely carb overloaded by the end of our meal. Maybe we try their carbonara next time.the two of us spent a total of like 70 some dollars, but we took like half of our food home cuz the serving size was so big. read more

We gave Nick's another shot - but they're still very overrated. At least they're now open at 11:30am, and offer all of their food for take-out. They also seem to have gotten better at getting the take-out food to their customers. *Cheesesteak with cooper cheese: maybe 4 stars. While it was good, it's very over priced for what they give you. $16.50 for a 10" role and not much meat... and it didn't even come with onions. (*see photo) At least the meat wasn't bland or dry, & the cheese was evenly distributed, but we were still left hungry & disappointed. The bread was freshly made, with a nice texture (not too hard or burnt, & not too many sesame seeds), but it had a salty-yeasty "off" aftertaste that distracted from the meat's flavor. Frankly, while Nick's cheesesteaks ranked very high in the 2025 March Cheesesteak competition, we've also had very good cheesesteaks at other places that had more meat, for less $. Honestly, unless Nick's makes some changes, we'll probably never come back - but we wish Nick well. read more

In store pickup is HORRIBLE. I ordered two plain cheese pizzas for pickup online. I got a pickup time of 1 hour after ordering. Showed up and waited an hour. Twice I was told my order was being worked on. After an hour and 5 minutes of waiting for a pizza that should have been ready when I arrived I asked them how much longer. They went back to check and said my order was just being started and it would be another half hour. No apologies for the ridiculous wait or inconvenience. So I just got a refund and left. 2 hours and they couldn't prepare/produce 2 pizzas. read more

I was excited to try this place out but.... I was dissatisfied. After sitting for 6 minutes at the bar before being acknowledged, i decided to give this place a review and I'm sure glad i did. So, after about 6 minutes, menus were dropped off as she passed to help another customer. Not the friendliest, but hey, this is the east coast, right? I start to make the assumption this must be "mom" and she is helping the kids out until the "real staff" comes in. She comes around and asked what would I like. I ordered a glass of wine and told her I wanted to take my time and enjoy my wine. She begins to pour my glass of wine and it's the end of the bottle, so maybe 3 oz came out. The picture with the little men hanging off of the wine glass is the pic I took right after she poured it. Without saying a word she walked away to retrieve another bottle in the back. She was gone at least 6 min. So, I begin to drink the wine because I'm thirsty and did not have any water either. She returned with a new bottle and stated she will top me off but never did. I also ordered the meatballs to enjoy right then and I will order a pizza to go. Again, reiterating I wanted to enjoy my wine and take my time. 2-3 minutes later the meatballs were in front of me. Gma stated, sorry I know you want to take your time but they were ready so I brought them out. No big deal, right? Look at this plate! Looks so delicious, right? I begin to eat and I notice they weren't that hot and what is this ice cream looking thing on top? Oh, duh, it's the cheese and it is yummy but very very cold. Cold like, I just busted this stuff out of the fridge let's put this ice cream looking thing right here in the middle. I continue to eat the meatballs and I'm not impressed. Then I see what appears to be some burnt pieces and I flip the meatballs over and I got all the crusty dry meatballs and snapped the next pic. I feel like I got the last of something from the bottom of the pot and they were all dried up. I'm finished my wine and asked for another and Gma gives me it to me. I'm not at all impressed with the meatballs but whatever I'm really here for the Pizzaaaa. I love pizza. I'm so excited. As I finish up and ask for the check, and she brings it over and she has charged for 2 full glasses of wine. Now at first, I'm annoyed and I want to say something, like Really?! You give the end of the bottle and you're going to charge me full price for the 2.5 oz? Whatever, I'm not going to make a stink because I know I'm going to write a review. I check my pizza out to make sure it's correct and it is and it looks so good. As soon as I get in my car I immediately open the box and have a slice. It tastes pretty good and I'm excited. Now, for $20 for a cheese pizza seems ridiculous to me but hey, I'm not going to start another topic on costs. I was just really dissatisfied of the full charge because that tells me she's shady. And, if she would have given extra or filled up with more what she owed me I would not have made a big deal. Plus never acknowledged it again. Maybe I was just annoyed at the beginning when I sat down and even as she "dropped " the menus as she walked by and still doesn't acknowledge you left a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered 5 pies to try a variety with my family coming in from NYC. I so wanted to love this place, but sadly it did not live up to the hype. Pros: - Detroit deep dish & tomato pie crust was amazing, thick yet light and fluffy with the just the right amount of olive oil. - The staff was friendly. Mid: - Tried to order online as suggested but you cannot order ahead so I had to call. Asked for pick up to be at 6:45pm but still had to wait for 30 mins for everything. The spicy tomato pie was a tomato pie with a shake of red pepper in the middle. Cons: - The sauce was bland, yet the traditional round was still salty. - The reviews on the skimpy amount of toppings were very accurate and it looked like they just dropped 1 small scoop on one area. You either got 8 small pepperoni or none on a slice. - Both the traditional (plain red) and the grandma (white with spinach and ricotta) were over cooked to the point the tops were hard and inedible. It was like eating bland sauce, salty cheese on a saltine cracker. To make it worse the ricotta was sweet like cheesecake on the grandma pizza . The meal was not cheap and we ended up throwing out almost 2 full pies (only 1-2 slice tried from each) and ate a lot of French fries to full everyone up that night. I would get the Detroit pie again, but I would really have to have a craving for it at its price point for a pizza. read more

No pizza is worth a 40 minute wait. Met up with my family to have dinner here. They don't take reservations so we put our name in for a table of 5 and it was a 30 minute wait. We waited around and at minute 35, we watched 3 people who had put their name in after us get seated. Then one of the people in the party came back up to the waiting area and told 2 people who also put their name in after us that they would be able to squeeze at their table. The hosts let this all happen and now a table of 5 was being seated before us even though we had put our name in before them. When we explained to the hosts that we had been waiting longer than they have, they basically just said they couldn't do anything about it. So I called Kid Shelleen's immediately and there was absolutely no wait for a table of 5. We all left and got a table there right away and ate a good meal. Probably wouldn't go back to Nick's unless they fix their seating situation because no pizza is worth that type of wait. read more

That said, here's how our remote culinary adventure went down: Chicago Deep Dish with Mushrooms and Onions First bite: smoky, meaty, rich... Wait a minute. That's not just mushrooms and onions. Plot twist: surprise pepperoni cameo! It snuck in like a pig in the night and honestly? It slapped. The pepperoni accidentally transformed what would've been a respectable vegetarian deep dish into a pizza that could win Oscars. Unfortunately, my son--staunch vegetarian and part-time pizza purist--was less amused. So while it was mouthwateringly great for me, it was a betrayal for him. A delicious betrayal. Round Pizza Great flavor, great crust, solid execution. Minor flaw: it had the structural integrity of a wet paper towel. Floppy and soggy, like it had just finished watching a sad movie. But hey, that's the nature of takeout--steam happens. Eat in, and I imagine this thing could hold a plank position longer than me at the gym. Caesar Salad This one was... complicated. It was like meeting someone with a great personality but no sense of style. The dressing? Divine. Parmy, garlicky, punch-you-in-the-face flavor. But the salad itself? Just some chopped up romaine doing its best. No parmesan shavings. Not even the powdered stuff. I wouldn't even call it Caesar--more like "Romaine With Ambitions." Garlic Rolls Now this was the silent MVP. Soft, garlicky, golden goodness. They were born to be dipped, and dipped they were--right into the Caesar dressing, which finally found its purpose in life. If the rolls were a band, the dressing was their lead singer, and together they were headlining my taste buds. Final Take: A mostly delicious journey with a few plot twists. Would I order again? Yes. Would I double-check for uninvited meats? Also yes. Would I eat those garlic rolls until I lose all sense of moderation? Absolutely. read more

This is the best pizza in Delaware easily. Dough that takes over a day to prepare, the finest ingredients, the tomatoes the cheese the pepperoni, the chicken the ribeye - I mean it is not cheap because it is significant quality. A Detroit pizza here for example is a ton of food. The chicken tenders are works of art. The beer wine and drinks list is as good as any restaurant around, better than brewpubs all over. This place exists because of dreamers who believe in great food and drink in a loving community atmosphere. This often means it is crowded at peak times. I hate to experience a meal so bad that I have to leave a one star review to warn others. Sadly tonight was one of those meals. My daughter had been hearing rave reviews about Nick's and wanted to try it out. So, we went over and were seated with minimal wait. We were given our menus and we ordered drinks. We decided on the bruschetta as an appetizer. The dipping sauces sounded quite interesting. For the main meal, I decided on a pepperoni cheesesteak with fried onions and my daughter chose a tomato pie. The order went in and then our waitress came back to tell us that they were out of dough for the tomato pie. And suggested a larger pizza that was twice the price. She ended up going with the meatball appetizer. That order went in and my steak sandwich was served. Somehow they forgot the appetizer. So, now I have my main dish and the waitress comes out again to tell us...no meatballs. So, my daughter is now deciding on a third option of chicken tenders. We finally found something that was on the menu and available to be served. Other than the waitress coming back to tell us that things were out of stock, she never checked on us once, or we would have been able to tell her that the appetizer was never served. Sadly, there are other issues to share. On my meal, the steak sandwich was about 7 inches in size and the cost was 16.50. I get it that prices are going up. But the sandwich was rather small for the price. But here is where it gets crazy. I asked for pepperoni on my sandwich. I received 4 penny sized pieces of pepperoni. And on my bill I saw $1.50. WOW !! Then I saw 50 cents charged for fried onions. And then I saw a 1 dollar charge for cherry peppers on the side. If you are going to nickel and dime me, please let me know and I can decide if I really want that item. This is a pizza shop. To run out of dough is unacceptable. The sandwich was meh. And sadly I won't be going back anytime soon. And I'm not on the bandwagon for this reasonably new pizza shop in Wilmington. My recommendation is to avoid it. read more
