We were a bit curious as to why our son ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken, but as always he knew what he was doing (at least with food). The chicken has the right amount of batter, there was still nice chunks of meat, plus the dish wasn't drowned in sauce. What really impressed me are the "minor" features that add up. The chili sauce with the bibimbap was tasty with a mild, not overwhelming kick (it may not be homemade, but it complimented the dish properly). The rice is very good, with generous portions. I wish I'd have purchased some kim chee to go with it. The miso soup is good, white miso, very appreciated on a cold day. Our family has been there before, and we plan on returning. My wife went to ask for sauce cus there was none and the lady looked at her and made her feel dumb for not knowing the sauces they had. Instead of asking her which on or explaining the ones they have. There was an Asian that use to work the front that was so kind and sweet. I don't know why this worker was impatient. I work hard for my money and was driving through and specifically stopped here on the way to the coast. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness.
