I didn't think Nick The Greek can mess up until tonight. Two Mediterranean Bowls with Steak. Waited almost 15 minutes and they managed to burn the meat for both of the orders and served to us. Bland and burnt left my mouth with that bitter after taste. Too much kale and probably 4 tablespoons of rice in that bowl... I did my best to eat what I can to not waste food.... The food is solid here. I ordered via Uber Eats and got them delivered relatively quickly. Got the chicken gyro and the chicken bowl. The bowl was solid - good amount of chicken. However, there were parts of the chicken that were hard. Some were so hard, it was almost inedible! The flavors are good, very flavorful yet tasted light. The rice was good and came with a handful of greens. My husband demolished his chicken gyro and said only good things about it. As for the pricing, pretty standard across the bay. Expect to pay about $15 per meal to get full. They are located off Hesperian in Hayward. We'll definitely come back here if we're craving Mediterranean food. We tried two different salads on our first visit since their proteins don't meet our pescatarian lifestyle. Both salads were very tasty and had generous portions of veggies. My Greek salad, which was tossed in a tasty vinaigrette, didn't even have any lettuce. The lemon dressing also had a really good flavor. They have a shared parking lot that wraps around the back. Been craving falafel wrap for a while and decided to treat myself w Nick The Greek since I was in the area. When I got there, there were a couple people waiting for door dash pick up. The cashier greeted me right away and was very friendly. I ordered the falafel wrap meal w nick's fries and drink. After about less than 10 mins wait, my food was ready. The wrap was good - it needs some sauce, idk like harissa sauce or maybe more tzatziki. The fries were amazing - they were hot and the perfect amount of garlic. I use to be a customer during the launch of this location. Food was great and pricing was fair and was my go to spot for a fast Gyro hands down. Fast forward to January 2026, I thought I would give them a second chance, but now a simple beef/lamb gyro pita wrap is now $14.67 which includes a small .75 dipping side (Yogurt). Now with pricing like this it's unfortunately getting too competitive with some of the local Falafel options that have more generous portions that I will prefer at that price point and their yogurt sides are free. read more

First time at this restaurant. Came to try the spanakopita. The place was clean and inviting. We were greeted when entering; something you don't see too often anymore. The staff is very friendly and customer oriented. The meal was outstanding. The portion was a good size. The spanakopita was cooked just right, the filo dough being flaky and light. All the ingredients were fresh. We had fries with the meal. They were lightly salted and crisp. For dessert we had the froyo with chocolate shell. Outstanding! Having a Greek grandfather who was also a hotel chef, I'm a bit picky about Greek cooking. But I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the whole meal. We'll be back. read more

Got to try out this new location and everything was great! Tried the souvlaki plate with pork shish kabobs and they were very tasty. Pork could have been a bit more tender but overall was very pleased. Mom got the souvlaki plate w lamb/beef gyro. Food was extremely fresh and yummy. Portions were huge and had some leftovers for the next day. Staff was totally amazing and friendly! Super busy but the line moved fast and food was prepared quickly as well. They are just off Hesperian next to Teaspoon. I ordered online and it was ready when I got there. The place was empty and the girl at the counter greeted me. I ordered the falafel pita. The flavor was good, but they put way too much tzatziki and was very messy! Way, way too much. It leaked through the wrap and they didn't even provide napkins or utensils! I've been wanting to try Nick's as a few co-workers have raved about the food. For the most part things went well. I ate there today 4/29/23. The inside is nice. Modern fast casual type set up. Roughly 6-8 regular sized tables plus 3 pub tabs on the side wall. Plenty of room IMO as most people seemed to carry out or Doordash. There is also some picnic type outside seating. Not sure if it's Nicks seating but it's there. There is ample parking. Wait time: we waited roughly 30 minutes to get our food. It was crowded. There was a youth soccer group and they had a lot of orders. However, the wait seemed a bit excessive. Maybe they were short staffed? The food: The food was good. It's fast casual a Greek food made pretty well. It was fresh. We ordered the Gyro plate. It came with side salad (more feta please!) choice of meat (we had beef/lamb). It had an order of rice or fries as well. I really wish the fries were more crispy. There was a side of pita and some Tzatziki sauce as a final touch. All in all fairly tasty. Why the three stars? 1. Wait time.- 30 mins is a a lot of wait time. 2. Soup: so I ordered hummus n pita as a side with my meal. As stated we waited about 30 minutes. About the 27 minute I heard our number called (39) but then I hear no hummus. No hummus? Rich sad :(....I go to the counter and the young lady tells me. I say "I heard" she offers a refund or feta dip. I say no but I'll try the soup which was cheaper. The soup was Avgolemono. It's a Greek lemon egg with chicken. However, this soup was a watery and slightly lemony mess with chicken hairs no chicken. I mean the chicken was string. This soup reminded me of Campbells that someone poured lemon in. Just did appointment. Did any one taste it? Did I get the bottom of the pot? 3. Running out hummus was like McDonald's running of nuggets and fries. There is zero excuse. The staff was very nice. I love Nick the Greek, this location is newer and very clean - it's also right across from Chabot and next to a boba spot which means lots of foot traffic sometimes. I highly recommend coming here because they never fail to pack the bowls with so much food, the service is also great as they're kind and friendly! If you're a newcomer, I recommend getting the combo beef/lamb bowl and maybe get some fries or hummus with pita on the side! It's a very filling meal as it comes with rice and many vegetables in the bowl - which I love! I'm really getting a good amount of food for the price. Parking is ample, there is a lot of seating and it is perfect to bring large groups. Highly recommend coming here! read more

This place is definitely five stars given it's on the pricier side and my husband and I still choose to come pretty regularly because it is so good. All of the ingredients are fresh, service is fast and food is yummy. I love the salad and the gyro bowl. The cheese is so flavorful and the cucumbers are always delicious. I love the tzatziki and the mustard sauce. Don't make me choose just one! Both pair nicely with the pita bread. You can order ahead online and pick up is a breeze. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent purchase /experience. I placed three orders, and my husband went to collect them. Upon returning home, we received a call that one order was missing. Consequently, my husband and I drove back to pick up the order. Upon opening the gyro bowl in front of the cashier to verify it was correct, I noticed that I had paid for a side of hummus and additional rice, neither of which was properly included. The extra rice was not added at all, and the hummus was carelessly placed on top of the food rather than presented in a separate container as is customary. I informed the cashier of the missing rice, and after questioning the cooks, he provided me with a side of rice; however, there was no apology for the initial oversight or for the inconvenience of my return trip. Which I live 15 min away, Furthermore, there was no acknowledgment regarding the improper presentation of the plate and how messy it looked. Ultimately I must say that I will not be returning to this establishment. The lack of customer service is not okay, and the chicken served was exceedingly dry. It is evident that the food preparation and packaging standards require significant improvement. From the cashier to the cooks no one apologies or took accountability, not to mention they made my husband pay $1.25 for a side of dressing that is included and came with the salad already. I will be frequenting an alternate location in Castro Valley moving forward. Horrible experience from the cashier to the cooks! New staff is much needed or you will continue to loose customers. read more

When you compare this Nick's to two other nearby locations (Castro Valley and Berkeley), this one is huge disappointment. Or so I thought when I walked in on Monday and 1) was pestered by someone hanging out in the parking lot, and then 2) had to wait 5 minutes for another patron to stop loudly talking to the young clerk after he had received his order. The confusion between a souvlaki and a gyro is very evident on the menu: they have exactly the same ingredients in them, so it's very hard to distinguish them. Unfortunately the gyro was overloaded with sauce, a messy pile of meat that was more like pork than the chicken I ordered, stale fries that were made in the previous hour. Oh wait, did I mention the very loud music that was blaring from the speakers? Why was this on so loud? The whole set-up is odd: the sauces like the ketchup were low, so I took the whole container to the counter to get it refilled. Rather than interrupr his cel;phone call, he told me to pump it harder. This whole miserable experience set me back $18. I suggest a field trip to the other two calm, manageable, clean, tasty locations for the employees at this Hayward store. read more
