Cool spacious and airy space with solid Middle East eats. I've driven past many times but finally just checked them out recently. Crazy ambitious menu with pizza, burgers, wings, kabobs, wraps and many Mid East favs like falafels, dolmas, gyro and babaghanoush. I only tried a couple of items, so I do need to try a few more things eventually. Order at the counter and food will get brought out. Seems like a place popular for take-out/deliveries. On a casual lunch I was impressed by the diversity in the place, as it is downtown Hayward. Young, old and cultural garb from several cultures spotted. Service at the register was friendly, dude gave off ownership vibes. Falafel Wrap ($11/4*) Very fresh and satsifying wrap. Big, soft and puffy pita bread is filled to the brim with fresh salad-like veggies. Chopped lettuce, tomato, onions and a couple of pickled items. Stuffed also with a decent amount of fat disk of falafel and a good dousing of tahini sauce. I loved the bites for the most part as I was full without feeling weighed down for the lunch hours. The falafels had good flavor but just didn't seem as crisp as I usually prefer, didn't seem fresh out of the fryer, which the places that are known for this definitely do. I especially liked the bites more when a pickled veggie entered the bite, so I should have ordered extra...next time. Beef Kabobs ($25/4*) Got this for take-out and it was still good hours later after a reheat. Beef is in small cubes and cooked pretty well done. A bit dry but at least it was flavorful. Definitely taste more Afghan in spicing/marinade, pretty bold with lots of garlic and herbs. De Afghanan out here in the east bay is the gold standard for these types of kabobs and those are cut into bigger chunks and are juicier by a lot. Kabob plates comes with a good amount of seasoned basmati rice, a pita bread, a small green salad and a small scoop of hummus. Even tho $25 seems a bit pricey, there is enough food to justify the price. I was able to make 1.5 meals out of it with a good dinner and a small work lunch. I was in there area and saw this restaurant and went in to check it out. It's spacious inside with lots of seating. We ordered the chicken and lamb plate with a side of falafel. Under the name of Shawarma n Hummus I had ordered through delivery service, chicken & lamb wrap and Greek Salad. It was delivered ahead of schedule and still wam. We ordered two chicken wraps, an order of fries, and a medium pepperoni pizza. The place is super welcoming, clean, and really cute inside. It was my first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much space they have, plus a TV if you want to hang out. The staff was awesome, friendly and attentive. The cashier was even serving tables and still did a great job. Now for the food: the chicken wrap is so good honestly one of the best I've had. Fries were solid, nothing fancy but tasty. The pizza toppings were good and great sauce, but the crust was a little cardboardish. Luckily, that one was for the kids, and they didn't mind. Either the falafel will be dry throughout, or it's not dry but the outer shell isn't that crunchy. My search has ended at Falafel Flare. Best falafel I've had in the East Bay! Very crunchy exterior contrasted with a moist pillowy interior, perfectly seasoned, not oily or salty. A side of falafel is currently $5.99 and it comes with five pieces. I also really liked their fries but I think those who prefer saltier fries may find these a bit bland. For me they were fried perfectly and came piping hot. I sometimes feel sick to my stomach after eating deep fried foods, but did not experience that here. Very spacious interior, lots of tables, outdoor seating. Courteous customer service. This is a nice large halal restaurant with some really great food. The decor is basic and simple, and they have a few TV's up to keep you occupied, but they don't really show anything current. I assume they don't have cable or a satellite because they typically just play old YouTube videos. The service is relatively quick. Kababs can take a little bit of time. Pricing is so-so. It's always going to be a little higher at a halal restaurant because their meat costs tend to be higher. The flavors are there! Good spices on the kababs, the hummus was not overly spiced, and a nice light vinaigrette on the salad. The only thing I hate is that they give you plasticware. That part is such a turn off! If you order the wrap, burger, or pizza, obviously, you don't have to worry about it, but when you order a plate, you want to be able to utilize substantial silverware! They also don't offer complimentary water! These are downfalls considering how much you're paying for the food! The food itself is solid! Order to go so you can use actual spoons, forks, and knives at home! My rating would of been higher if it wasn't for these two things. Kind of a big deal to me! read more

We came here on a weekday and although we were the only customers there when we got there, the place got pretty full throughout the noon hour. My partner ordered the gyro wrap and the baklava and I ordered the falafel burger with fries. We liked everything we ordered except maybe the baklava, which was not as crispy and fresh as it could have been. But the veggie burger patty is pretty much a falafel patty that has a lot of flavor although admittedly a little bit salty. I wish they would have mentioned the jalapeños in the burger, which I found to be a bit much. The fries were fresh and made to order. My partner said that his gyro was very fresh -- the meat had a lot of flavor while the pita was fluffy. It's clear they put a lot of care into their food. A plus is that they have a dedicated parking lot close to a bakery and small grocery store. We would definitely return. read more

I can't believe this place exists in Hayward because it now rivals my number one for Mediterranean in the East Bay. First off, a few tips and then we'll get into the meal. The very first tip is, there is no street parking but there are open and public lots that are located with big blue signs with numbers on it. (EX. Lot 7) Keep an eye for these public parking lots or else you'll be circling the blocks multiple times due to the amount of one way streets surrounding the restaurant. There is one directly next to it and one on the opposite side of the street in a public garage. The second tip is, if you have a yelp account to check in for a free tiny treat. You get a delicious little baklava of your choosing. Now let's talk about space. This place is huge with ample amount of seating. It was sad seeing how empty it was during peak lunch time with so much seating available. But the space is nice and it is extremely clean. The owners do such a good job maintaining this place. As for service, the cashier was very kind and very accommodating. Had great recommendations and gave us a perfectly time estimate of 15-20 mins for our food to come out. Definitely come before you're hangry. Last but not least, the food. My God it smelt delicioussss. You were hit with the smell of how floral the rice was and then smacked with the spices on the meat. My girlfriend got the beef and I got the lamb kebab entrees. We were told it was small enough for one person but honestly we could had split it for the amount of food we were given. Out of the two plates we both agreed the beef was better and amazingly tender. To top it off their hummus, pita bread, and dill yogurt were extremely flavorful. It sat on the counter for a good 10 minutes before it was brought to us. The food was delicious, I had a beef kabob with basmati rice and a salad. The chicken kabob my friend had was a bit dry, and my other friend had a lamb gyro which was also delicious. The restaurante was very nice and clean. The ambiance was inviting. The staff was just nice but not inviting. I was disappointed with the service. Other customers got their meal plated.
