Combo Platter / falafel and chicken
Darin T.

Falafel Flare was great. Got the combo platter for $21.99 - comes w/ a choice of 3 proteins: falafel, chicken, or beef. I did the falafel + chicken and it was super tasty. Falafel was moist, flavorful, solid 8/10. The chicken - first off looked amazing, like deep red and heavily seasoned, def eye-catching. It was a little dry but the sauces on the side made up for it, added some moisture + extra flavor boost. Rice was excellent and pita was soft and fluffy, really good. Next time I'm back I think I'd try a wrap - that buttery fluffy pita w/ chicken and all the veggies sounds fire. Side note: the hot sauce and garlic sauce were both delicious , but didn't really care for the one w/ sumac. Kinda tasted pungent like blue cheese or green olives... not my thing. Just a heads up. Overall, solid spot and I'll be back.

Habibi this place is halal! I've been to falafel flare a few times now and they are always consistent! I really like the combo plate here. It's really good, flavorful, fresh and filling. The Greek salad is really yummy and fresh too! The staff always has my food ready quickly as they are very efficient. The interior is spacious and clean so I always sit down and enjoy my meal. If you check in through Yelp, they give you a free baklava dessert, a sweet little treat!! Overall, I've always had a great experience here and will be back.

We ordered two chicken wraps, an order of fries, and a medium pepperoni pizza. The place is super welcoming, clean, and really cute inside. It was my first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much space they have, plus a TV if you want to hang out. The staff was awesome, friendly and attentive. The cashier was even serving tables and still did a great job. Now for the food: the chicken wrap is so good honestly one of the best I've had. Fries were solid, nothing fancy but tasty. The pizza toppings were good and great sauce, but the crust was a little cardboardish. Luckily, that one was for the kids, and they didn't mind. Overall, it's a great spot for a quick bite that won't break the bank, with food that hits the spot and service that makes you want to come back.

Falafel wrap (with everything) and gyro wrap (with everything) -- just perfect

Absolutely delicious. Everything tastes fresh, obviously created by someone who knows their food! Every bite is a treat. Every single condiment--may it be pickle or garlic sauce or tahini sauce--perfectly matches the protein it's complementing. I know that we'll be coming back. Parking is hard though.

I've been looking for a falafel place that does the crunchy exterior/moist interior contrast well and until now hadn't found one. Either the falafel will be dry throughout, or it's not dry but the outer shell isn't that crunchy. My search has ended at Falafel Flare. Best falafel I've had in the East Bay! Very crunchy exterior contrasted with a moist pillowy interior, perfectly seasoned, not oily or salty. A side of falafel is currently $5.99 and it comes with five pieces. I also really liked their fries but I think those who prefer saltier fries may find these a bit bland. For me they were fried perfectly and came piping hot. I sometimes feel sick to my stomach after eating deep fried foods, but did not experience that here. Very spacious interior, lots of tables, outdoor seating. Courteous customer service. Love that it's right by the library so you can reward yourself after a study session.

Falafel Flare was really good. I ordered the gyro salad and honestly, it might be the best one I've had. The gyro meat had that perfect slightly crispy edge I love, and everything tasted super fresh. The portions were solid, prices were fair, and they've got their own parking lot which made things easy. I ordered in person and my food was ready in like five minutes. The staff was friendly too. I'll definitely be back.

This is a nice large halal restaurant with some really great food. The decor is basic and simple, and they have a few TV's up to keep you occupied, but they don't really show anything current. I assume they don't have cable or a satellite because they typically just play old YouTube videos. The service is relatively quick. Kababs can take a little bit of time. Pricing is so-so. It's always going to be a little higher at a halal restaurant because their meat costs tend to be higher. The flavors are there! Good spices on the kababs, the hummus was not overly spiced, and a nice light vinaigrette on the salad. The only thing I hate is that they give you plasticware. That part is such a turn off! If you order the wrap, burger, or pizza, obviously, you don't have to worry about it, but when you order a plate, you want to be able to utilize substantial silverware! They also don't offer complimentary water! These are downfalls considering how much you're paying for the food! The food itself is solid! Order to go so you can use actual spoons, forks, and knives at home! My rating would of been higher if it wasn't for these two things. Kind of a big deal to me!

Chicken Kebab, Falafel Platter

3.5 stars Falafel Flare is attached to the Middle Eastern Rummi Mart and offers a menu of kebabs, wraps, falafel, and a few fusion items like burgers and pizza. Given the name of the restaurant, my pick was the Falafel Platter, which came with five dry, crunchy falafel balls along with hummus, pita bread, and a simple salad of lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes, served with a variety of colorful sauces including Italian salad dressing, spicy red chili sauce, tzatziki, pickle relish. and aioli. I also tried the Chicken Kabab, which had a bright red color from the spice mixture but was incredibly dry and overcooked. Overall, this was a decent enough place to stop for a casual meal in a clean setting, but the food wasn't the best I've had.

Chicken shawarma wrap
Ashish K.

I got a take out from this place and it was pretty good. Not your traditional shawarma wrap. This one is dipped in their sauce which is not spicy as it looks but adds ton of flavor. It's was $14 and fills you up, they don't skimp on the chicken. I would go back and try the chicken kebab platter. The person there said it takes time to cook (20mins) and I was rushing.

Got delivery so can't speak to the direct service or ambiance of the place. The food arrived earlier than expected and was flavourful. The wraps are sold separate from the sides and all items can be pretty pricey when ordering online. Might be better to order from the restaurant directly.

Chicken plate 4/5 - this wasn't my favorite.. chicken was pretty dry and I had to dunk it in hummus and the sauce to make it better. Portion size was good tho and I left very full. The salad was a nice side but I wish they had tabouleh Came on a Saturday afternoon and they weren't too busy. Food took a while to come out tho. Parked in the structure for free right across the street which was super convenient.

Gyro Wrap

We came here on a weekday and although we were the only customers there when we got there, the place got pretty full throughout the noon hour. My partner ordered the gyro wrap and the baklava and I ordered the falafel burger with fries. We liked everything we ordered except maybe the baklava, which was not as crispy and fresh as it could have been. But the veggie burger patty is pretty much a falafel patty that has a lot of flavor although admittedly a little bit salty. I wish they would have mentioned the jalapeños in the burger, which I found to be a bit much. The fries were fresh and made to order. My partner said that his gyro was very fresh -- the meat had a lot of flavor while the pita was fluffy. It's clear they put a lot of care into their food. A plus is that they have a dedicated parking lot close to a bakery and small grocery store. We would definitely return.

Chicken wrap, they do not skimp on the meat.
Aerris M.

Can't go wrong with their chicken salad, chicken wrap, or falafels. The service is fast and friendly! I've been going here for about two years now since working in the area, the taste of the food has only improved and is proven by how many more patrons go there to eat.

My go-to is the triple kebab (which you can customize), and I'm partial to their shami (ground beef), chicken, and chapli (beef patty). The meat is succulent and incredibly well-seasoned, with the shami being a standout...definitely the kind of dish you don't judge by its cover! This dish is served on a bed of rice and small salad. The rice is cooked well. I have also tried several of their appetizers, and my favorites are the samosas and borani banjan (eggplant), though the bolani are also great, and the serving size is enough to feed a small army. The samosas are a nice departure from traditional samosas I am accustomed to, especially at India restaurants. The ones here are large, flatter (almost like an empanada), and not the slightest bit greasy. You can tell they make these fresh. The banjan have a nice acidity and a tasty cream/tomato sauce they are tossed within. The bolani can be prepared with either leeks or potatoes (or ask for a combo!) and are served with a cream dipping sauce. I feel that everything here is a good value, with the triple kebab coming in at $25, and the appetizers all coming in at $10-$15. You will not leave hungry.

I appreciated the chicken serving on the Grilled Chicken Salad but, there was definitely not enough greens. I also feel that red onion would've leveled up the salad. The chicken was not dry at all. The beef kabob was tasty however, the meat serving sizes for the kabob plate was quite small.

This is clearly something the owner does because a few reviews below someone else mentioned her review was flagged and taken down. THE OWNER/MANAGER IS NOT A HONEST PERSON. The owner of this establishment contacted Yelp to remove my original review, claiming my experience was not legitimate. I am reposting my review with screenshots showing that | placed an online pickup order and visited the restaurant. The photos are timestamped from 2/3/2026. Transparency matters, and attempting to discredit a real customer experience instead of addressing it reflects poorly on the business. Flagged Content: Order: Chicken Shawarma Plate Total: $17.55 Location: 217 W Winton Ave, Haywara, CA 94544 I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. The food was not good at all. The chicken was clearly not fresh--it tasted old and seemed like it had been reheated in the microwave, possibly from a day or two earlier. The side dish with garbanzo beans also tasted old. The pita bread was cold and not even warmed, which shows a lack of care. The service was just as bad. When I arrived, the front door was locked even though the restaurant states it opens at 11:00 AM. I arrived around 12:35 PM. A gentleman eventually came to open the door. When I told him my name and that I was there for a pickup order, he seemed completely confused. A young lady then stepped in and asked about my order, and I had to show her proof that I placed it online. Apparently, my order was not in their system despite my confirmation. She told me my food would be ready in three minutes. I was on my lunch break, and there was no apology for the door being locked or for my order not being ready. I ordered ahead specifically because I was on a time limit. The fact that it was ready in "three minutes" made it very clear that the food was reheated rather than freshly made. The ambiance was also unpleasant. The restaurant has large chandeliers trying to appear elegant, but it doesn't work. Chairs were stacked on top of tables, so dining in wasn't even an option. There was also a strong smell of floor cleaner throughout the restaurant, as if they were trying to cover up another odor. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The food quality, service, and overall experience were very disappointing. This was a waste of money. I ended up throwing the food away because I was worried about food poisoning and didn't have time to return it since I was on my lunch break. I will not be coming back.

To that I simply have to give my respects and give them a shout out. Very calm and relaxing space. Many regulars walking in picking up take-out food. There's a very kind and soft paced table service here that just reminds me of cute and quaint bistros/cafes from the days gone by. Actual dialogue between servers and patrons, questions answered, smiles passed along. A huge gap from QR code ordering and avoidance of interaction that is trying to be normalized from here on out. We ordered a couple of bottled beers, nothing craft brewed-like, just ordinary Euro/Mexican selections. I'm not as rigid as I once was, so just a good clean lager with a meal and some water is very welcoming to me. They brought nice beer glassware and asked if we wanted it poured into a glass. Sure ain't gonna turn that down, especially since it was already there. It did fit with the nice silverware, cloth napkin and candlelit table. Yet nothing was stuffy and formal, just casual locals out for a good time. Kofta Wrap ($19/4*) This wasn't mine but I did taste a piece of the kofta kebab. Theirs is a beef/lamb mix and is well mixed, almost like a firm meatloaf texture, versus a grilled burger texture. It was a good basic kofta, spiced moderately so not strong but also not bland. The inside also has a lot of lettuce, onions and cucs with a tangy yogurt sauce. I did taste a big hint of mint in my bite which I'm assuming are big hits of herbs with the salad and not the kofta itself. And it was wrapped nice and tight with even distribution so every bite got every element. I look for that in every wrap whether a burrito, med wrap and even stuffed pitas. Beef Shawarma Plate ($20/4.5*) Pretty heavily spiced, where you can feel the texture of the warming spice paste in each bite. A little strong but at least it gave you ride to another culture. Properly shaved pieces where the meat texture was still there and nothing like processed gyro meat. Served with yellow rice and an awesome salad with a tangy dressing. I especially loved the tangy green chutney that was so vibrantly herbaceous, a mint and cilantro punch that brightened the spice ladened shawarma. And I also loved the grilled tomatoes and onion garnish on top of the shawarma, just gave it a nice chef's touch. Mansaf ($25/5*) I have never tried this but as soon as I saw it, I had to try it. I was told it was probably Jordan's most famous dish. Super tender cubes of lamb, with a touch of fat on some pieces which I love. Totally swimming in this glorious creamy sauce made of dried yogurt and tumeric. The sauce was mild (spice wise), quite tangy with a noticeable milky flavor. Served again with rice but this time topped with toasted almond slivers, which added a nice texural contrast. I was also told that this was usually made with bone-in lamb, but think they did it this way to make it more restaurant friendly, maybe even American friendly. But I was just imagining if this would have been a bone-in lamb shank, I would have loved it even more. Great dish! Still have to try their extensive kabob offerings and an assortment of their mezzes whether falafels, hummus and other dips. Lots of work yet still ahead of me, but I just know that this is gonna be a smooth and fun ride. Bet.

Nick The Greek has all the classic schwarma and kabobs you're craving for from Mediterranean cuisine with a more modern, convenient twist through their pita and plate combos consisting of standard fries as well as those loaded with generous portions of meat and sauces. As with most gyro places, the schwarma slices are the highlights and Nick The Greek has a good beef/lamb schwarma that came with crispy ends in my most recent order. The combo of fresh veggies, fries, and schwarma made each bite a hearty one. The crunch from the lettuce paired well with the soft pita bread holding the whole thing together. With each order, you're able to request add ons for additional costs but for the amount you pay, you'd expect a generous portion of the add on but it doesn't seem to be the case. A request for "extra fries" amounted to about 6 strings and tomatoes and olives were almost non-existent. Fortunately, I was able to cover most of the costs with a coupon code so it wasn't too big of a deal that there were less toppings or things completely missing. To go with my gyro, I also ordered a side of their Nick's Fries which are just fries topped with meat, sauces, and some green onions. I opted for the beef/lamb schwarma and it was certainly a meal in itself at this point. The fries still had some rigidity but because of the sauces, they were pretty soaked. The flavors were still enjoyable and the giant slices of meat made for a very filling side. I also got a cup of their strawberry dragonfruit juice and it was refreshing. A bit sweet but the tartness was good balance and quenched my thirst as I was consuming the savory meal. The staff were welcoming and quick to fulfill the order. I had ordered take out and everything was ready by the estimated time and packaged nicely - no messes by the time I got home to enjoy the meal. It definitely helped to have such a large parking lot which made the quick pick up that much quicker. For those looking to dine in, they have plenty of tables inside the shop and a few outdoors if you're keen on soaking in some sun. Overall, Nick The Greek satisfies that Mediterranean craving with their menu of pitas, plates, bowls, salads, and fries. The staples you'd expect like schwarma and falafel are made well here and the prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. With their mobile app, you may earn rewards that can be redeemed for more food so if you're a frequent visitor, you'll benefit greatly! If you're looking for a quick lunch or early dinner, Nick The Greek rarely has a line and can get your food ready to go and packing in your belly in no time.

Plus, I was craving Persian food, specifically a solid kubideh. Their reviews were good, but their kubideh and chicken plate was over $20+. Persian food is usually on the pricier side, but spending that much on a lunch plate feels excessive. So, I went with the kubideh wrap for $13 which price-wise was more palatable. It came with a side salad and seemed like a good value. It took a little longer than expected, which was fine. But the flavor wasn't there, and I was hoping for the depth of flavor I get from South Bay favorites like Yas in SJ. I unwrapped the whole thing just to taste the kubideh on its own, but it was bland. Like plain ground beef. I had to use the salt and pepper from my utensils packet to give it something, unfortunately. On the bright side, the salad, a Persian-style cucumber and tomato mix, was excellent. The lavash was soft and fresh, and the other ingredients were solid. But the kubideh, the star of the show, was underseasoned. For me, kubideh is the test of a Persian spot. If that's lacking, I'm not coming back. Maybe they had an off day, but based on what I had, it just didn't hit.

My husband really enjoyed his wrap and he'd be interested in returning. The wrap used a flour tortilla...but the filling was very good. Even my parents who don't like to venture too far from Filipino-American food were interested in returning, especially because the location is nearby Popeye and Seafood City. We came in around lunch time on a Saturday, and there were some people eating inside and outside. Staff were very friendly and the seating area was clean.

Got the chicken shawarma plate, falafel plate, Achilles chicken wrap and the loaded fries with beef…read moreshawarma. I think the chicken dishes stole the show. The plate had a generous serving of rice and hummus - the chicken was tender and flavorful. The wrap was crispy on the outside, the Achilles chicken was very tasty as well. The falafel was a disappointment though as it was not fully cooked. There was a slight raw taste to it. Took the food to go and the server was very cheerful.
