Nick the Greek, another Windsor classic, tucked away in the Riverside Plaza off of Wyandotte Street, in the east end of the city. I have been coming into this plaza for years, going to almost every shop except this one. Today, my mom decided that she wanted to go out for lunch, so we decided on this place. Why not? I hadn't been, and I grew up in this area too, so off we went! Walking in on a Monday afternoon, there was one other person in there, must've been a regular, talking with the waitress; we were told to sit wherever we liked, and she brought us our menus and took our drink orders; I ordered a diet coke, and then we browsed the menu. My mom decided upon the regular gyro, and I got the chicken gyro with a Greek salad. It didn't take long for the salad to come out first, it was a very large sized salad in which my mom and I both shared. It was your classic, delicious Greek salad, the dressing was flavourable, and it came with thick slices of tomatoes, some olives, a beet slice (which I took both of those off, not an olive or beet fan) a hot pepper, with a perfect amount of feta cheese, and in another few minutes, out came our gyros, which were hot. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was juicy and tender, the tzaziki sauce was garlicky and it was wrapped in a warm soft, pita bread. I devoured all of it. The restaurant was very quiet, just the background noise of the waitress talking to the only other patron in the restaurant, it's a small restaurant and a few others came in for takeout. Very friendly, fast service, locally owned. Next time I'm home visiting family, I'm coming back to try some other items on the menu. read more

Saganaki is excellent. Veggie Gyro is really good. Fries, yummm. Baklava is homemade and awesome. Nice the Greek looks like your typical diner, but the food is well made, quick and inexpensive. A true gem in East Windsor. read more

Best gyros in Riverside? Yes. I haven't had enough gyros in Windsor to say it's the best in the city, but because I live nearby, and the food is always consistent in quality, Nick the Greek is a great place to pick up dinner. I usually get the gyro dinner and for the price, you get what you pay for since the portions are well sized. What I'd suggest trying with the gyro dinner is the salad, makes for a great combo. Overall the food is authentic so Nick the Greek is a great place to pick up a good gyro. read more

Can't really complain. This place seems to have pretty good food at decent prices. I only ordered the gyro which was delicious and messy. With a side of fries. Fries were alright, not the best but not bad either. The seating is surprisingly big (which doesn't mean it's a large area but it just looks smaller from the outside). I'm not too sure if people usually dine in though. I went in for lunch time and although a lot of customers came in, I was the only one sitting in the place. Other than that can't say too much else. Best Greek Salad with Chicken I have ever had. Delish!!! Always fresh, crisp and flavourful! However the vegetables are always a bit too big. Whenever I order the salad for take out I have to re-chop the tomatoes and chunks of lettuce in order to eat it! My suggestion would be to dice the toppings smaller so it's not so messy and easier to mix. read more

The place is small but don't let that mislead you. The Greek food is amazing and you get huge portions. We had the gyros with fried picked as an appetizer. Your meal some with a gigantic Greek salad first and then a huge portion of fries. Great place at a great value! Highly recommend. read more

A pretty good ma and pa type of restaurant. I had a gyro dinner that included fries and salad. It was a little pricy at almost $17 but it was good food and I was full after just the fries and gyro. Saved the salad for later. If you like the sauce on gyros...this is your place because they put a ton on. At the Greek boy you get the same portions but its about $5 cheaper. read more

We tried Nick the Greek's for a late lunch/early dinner during the week. It was recommended to us by a friend. It is located in the corner of a strip mall. The seating area is small, but does the job very well. My only issue right from the start was the place was hot, not sure if there was an air conditioning issue or not. That being it said it was a day when with the humidex the temperature was well over a 100F (38C for our metric friends). We were greeted in a very friendly manner and asked if we would like to start off with any beverages as the waitress brought our menus. My wife ordered the pork chop dinner with Greek rice and vegetables. I ordered the gyro with a Greek salad. We both started with a bowl of lemon chicken rice soup (one of our favourite soups). The soup came out quickly, it was a very tasty bowl of soup. We both enjoyed it very much. It was a bit different than the lemon rice soups we've had elsewhere, but just as good. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good bowl of soup. Next, the waitress brought out my salad; the size was incredible, she informed that was the small. The large must be enormous. I've enjoyed Greek salads all over the City and at various restaurants at Greek Town in Detroit; I can say without a doubt this was the best Greek salad I have ever had. The waitress was back constantly to see if everything was good and to re-fill our glasses. Our meals came out. I tried everything on my wife's plate; I am not a pork chop fan, but that was one of the best pork chops I have ever tasted. My wife said the same thing. The Greek style rice and vegetables were very flavourful as well. I tried my gyro; it was nicely made up, with a good portion of gyro meat and Tzatiki sauce. The sauce was very, very good. The gyro was good, but the only down side to it was that it looked like a pre-made style of meat. I would have to say that the gyros at Sofo's on Tecumseh Road and Jefferson Avenue are better. They seem to be made on site and have a homemade taste and quality about them. The place seems to be a local favourite. While we were there many patrons came in to eat, or get take out and they all seemed to have a good rapport with the staff. The restaurant began to fill up as we were finishing our meals. The bill came and it was very reasonable for what we received. I cannot wait to go again to try other items on their menu. We will be back. read more

The gyros is not homemade like Stathis on the west side, they also tend to go overboard with the tzatziki sauce. The lamb shank was average, nothing to write home about. Their avgolemono soup is made in house and is delicious. The saganaki is also tasty. The service is friendly, which makes up for the mediocrity of the kitchen. All in all, an average run of the mill Greek joint that serves hearty portions of comfort food at reasonable prices. read more

i ordered a gyro and greek salad the gyro was good nothing too special the protions are great though. the greek salad tastes good but since i ordered everything to-go it all overflowed and leaked onto the bag and in my car and was such a mess to eat i would suggest they seperate their food in boxes or better packaging at least read more

Picked Nick's because it was the closest restaurant. Really liked the Mom & Pop feel of the placed. The food was awesome and staff was friendly & efficient. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Nick's. read more

I absolutely love the food here. I find myself ordering from here at least once a month and always get cravings for the delicious gyro meat and tatziki sauce. I always order a gyro and a Greek salad, with the occasional baklava for dessert. I am rarely disappointed (there is sometimes a few consistency problems, but for how often I eat there, it's not unexpected) and the price is definitely worth it for the amount of food you get. The only negative thing I could say about Nick the Greek is about their dine-in experience. It is very small, and not overly comfortable. If there are any other tables full around you, you feel like you're sitting with the table over. They do not have ice for their drinks, and despite how small it is, the waitresses sometimes seem to forget you exist other than to bring your food. I've had to get up and ask for more napkins or ketchup or silverware several times. I definitely prefer to take-out my food, but the taste still makes up for the dine-in experience. All in all, it's the best gyros and Greek salad in Windsor and I definitely recommend it. read more
