We stopped by this little Greek place yesterday. We called in first, because we had never been there, and there were 12 of us. When we got there, our table was already ready. One waitress was able to take care of all 12 of us (and our group is demanding), and the food was wonderful. We tried so much on the menu, from the breakfast to the gyros, saganaki to liver, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food came out quickly and it was hot. The only thing we wouldn't order again was the Mediterranean chicken. Everything else was a hit! read more

Tried this place, which I have probably driven by 1 million times and never really noticed. Well it will now be one of my go to places for Greek food and possibly for any kind of food. The special tonight was ribs. Done just the way I like it-dry rub it was really really good. My guest had the souvlaki dinner. We are at the moment on a low-carb diet so no bread, no potatoes. both meals were excellent. To start we had the flaming cheese, well done opah display. Flavorful and fresh is what you'll get at Stathis Grill. We shared the gyro and chicken dinner because we thought the portions would be large but they were not. They were ideal for one hungry person, our bad. The food was definitely delicious! Some of the best tszaiki sauce I have ever had... deeeelish! The chicken soup was really good too. When most places say "homemade gyros", I take it with a grain of salt. This place does actually make homemade gyros ("yee-ros"), as well as delicious loukaniko (sausage) and tiropita (mini cheese pie). This is delicious, homemade Greek food at its best, without all the pomp and pretense of Thanasis or Greektown across the river. My ex-girlfriend was Greek and she didn't cook this well! Haha. Have been here many times and each time we were completely satisfied. The service is always friendly and fast...even when they are really busy and they treat you so kindly. We have had many things on the menu and were always happy with the meal. The chicken lemon soup is a favourite of mine and I usually have it on every visit. My very favourite Greek restaurant in town! Their gyro is amazing, just enough tzatziki sauce and the gyro meat is tender and super tasty! Their Greek salad dressing is delicious!!! They put beets on it and put a good amount of olives on the salad when other Greek places in the area often skimp out on toppings. You can really tell they put a lot of love and effort into making their food and it shows! It's also reasonably priced, which is a huge bonus! They always leave me wanting more even if I'm full!!! read more

We drove up and were a bit concerned that it was a little too much of a hole in the wall even for us, but the parking lot was packed. We went inside and the place is really nice and up to date décor-wise (no naked statue murals or huge displays of worry beads like Greek truckers or anything). It was very tasteful and clean. We could see who we thought was the owner Stathi in the kitchen watching over everything. There was a good size birthday party going on but we were seated quickly. I get the feeling Stathi is native Greek which is almost always a good sign! The menu is very reasonable and has a very good variety of home cooked Greek food. We had spinach pie and the Gyros/souvlaki combo. The side Greek salads were Very Very yummy and had a variety of items including beets!! You never see that on a side salad. Dressing seemed home made (more mild vinegar accent and less like trendy over spiced bottled dressing). I have been eating Greek food for 42 years since I was a waitress as a teenager so I have had my share of Greek food including 9 or 10 trips to Greece! I loved the roasted potatoes and the tzatsiki too. Very yummy dinner. I was pleased to see homemade yogurt and some homemade pastries too. I just could not fit in all the things I wanted to try! This guy makes his own gyros. Have never seen this before or just did not realize it elsewhere. That is admirable for a small business indeed. He is open 6 days with later hours so it looks like the owner watches his own business very closely. The wait staff were congenial and experienced. Many patrons seemed like regulars. All good signs. Very reasonable good food that had a few unusual items home made. My definition of a great experience. Will happily return on my next trip to Windsor. I've ordered a few things from there and honestly it is hit or miss. some dishes are amazing and deserve 5 stars others are 1 stars if not worse. The dishes I have enjoyed are their Gyro pita and poutine. They really knock it out of the park with their gyro. Their lamb burger is super flavourful and juicy and lastly their baby beef liver dish is so bomb probably one of the best liver and onions kind of dish I've ever had. the dishes I have had were so bad honestly it is surprising because they are capable of making good food. their Mediterranean chicken is bland and not very flavourful at all. it is listed as one of their customer favourites but that really surprises me because it is only a little more flavourful than boiled chicken. it is also not two pieces of chicken breast as advertised as it was more like one chicken breast cut into half. The second dish which is by far one of the worst things I've ordered at a restaurant is their daily special lasagna, first of all there was no to little "meat" on it. The so called meat I saw was specs of lil dry tasteless dots. The tomato sauce they used tasted like chef boyardee it was clearly not homemade and was from a can. Honestly chef boyardee is more generous with the amount of meat you get. The whole lasagna dish even though is was a generous portion it tasted so awful that it made me write this review. I can't explain the lasagna taste other than it tasting like an over salted chef boyardee pasta. Over all there are really good things you can order at this restaurant you just need to be able to pick right. I do also find them over priced to be honest. if you order a gyro pita is comes up to almost $10 but you get nothing else with it, no drink no sides. So even though it is delicious it is definitely on the pricey side. read more
