There is some parking in front and a parking lot behind the restaurant. We were seated quickly and our waitress was quick to greet us and grab drinks. Once we placed our order, the food come out fairly quickly. My burger was a bit tough as if it had sat too long on the grill. The thousand island sauce and French fries were good. I ordered the Buffalo wings and they were very overdone. They were dried out and tough. I didn't tell our server because from the moment she greeted us it seemed as though she was in a bad mood. A real "Karen" which was her name on the bill. She was very short and seemed annoyed if we asked for anything. When you wait tables, being nice goes a long ways. I feel like this lady is over it and needs to retire. A table got sat in front of us, I paid attention to see how she acted towards them and it was about the same way. Our trip to Glacier National Park brought us to Kalispell, Montana, a pretty little town just outside the park. On one of our last nights in Kalispell, we found Nickel Charlie's, a small casino off the main drag. The restaurant is average-sized with booths and tables. The main characteristic of the restaurant are the many different toy pedal cars hanging from the ceiling. (See my pics.) My first impulse was to check to see how secure they were. LOL Then I noticed the many different models of cars were represented. On a lark, we both ordered the fried prawns. Amazing! BEST PRAWNS EVER! (I thought I had already written a review for Nickel Charlies, but Yelp says I didn't. Five years later, we still talk about the food.) The food was great, the ambiance was unique, and we didn't even check out the casino. Parking out front was convenient. If the casino was as popular as the restaurant, I imagine the place is doing okay. If you are in Kalispell, check it out. (By the way, Kalispell is about 20 miles from the park. Nice quiet town, even in the pre-pandemic summer.) read more

When my husband and I chose to come here we were taken a back up by how empty the restaurant was at lunchtime. Only to figure out why our food was terrible all of it tasted bland greasy they change their french fries to some soggy limp crinkle fries which they used to have the breaded crispy fries which were amazing. I ordered the Cobb salad this time and although I got it to split, I definitely could have eaten it all on my own. A giant side of fries is equal or less than the cost of a soda. I like to order a beverage when I go. That usually consists of a Montana made beer. Local is how we do 'round here. The kids menu is pretty diverse. And the adult menu is huge. Staff and service is great. There's never any complaints that way. This last time I think there was a problem with one of the persons in my party being charged incorrectly. But I'm sure Charlie will be quick to fix it. Solid food in Evergreen. There's just not many spots to choose from in this part of town. So, if you have to choose between Applebees and Nickel Charlie's, go for NC! read more

Nickel Charlie's is easy to miss if you aren't looking for food while driving on the highway. But if you decide to stop here, you won't be disappointed. They have a good variety of things to choose from. I'd call it a better version of a Dennis. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere, and good food to eat while you hangout for a few hours. I tried to eat there in June 2022 and was recovering from knee surgery. My leg was in a brace and I could not really bend my knee. They tried to put us in a tiny booth on an elevated platform. I said I couldn't sit there due to my inability to bend my knee. There was an empty and clean table for two right in front of us and we were told that we would have to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for another table to clear. We left and went elsewhere. Today, we returned to give them another chance. We had a group of 6 people. It took forever to get our orders. Two of the orders were wrong. We never got drink refills and we had requested that our ticket be split. That didn't happen. My wife's should have been the percentage of her age off of her meal as is their birthday policy. We were overcharged $5.50. The menu didn't say anything about having raw onion in their taco salad. They had to make a new one, which they did. The food was relatively good. Although the fish that one of our group ordered described it as being chewy. Yuck! They are obviously not handicap friendly, they don't read orders back to people to ensure correctness, it even took forever to get silverware, and they screwed up the bill. I'm sure they will blame it all on being short staffed, but these issues have nothing to do with being short staffed. They just can't seem to handle simple tasks and customer service. We've eaten here about 8 times since we have lived here. The past two times were horrible experiences and we will not be back. read more

Finally stopped here based on friend and Yelp reviews and was very disappointed. I ordered halibut and chips and my husband had the 10oz steak. The batter on the halibut barely covered the fish and there was no color. The halibut tasted fishy also. The fries are krinkle instead of battered like they had before. Fries are soggy.. they should have kept the battered ones. The steak was tough and not seasoned well. The only good thing about this meal was the creme of asparagus soup and the loaded bake potato that came with the steak. Waitress asks us how are dinner was and I shrugged.. she could see that I wasn't going to eat most of it, but didn't care. Finally, I stopped her when she went by and told her my complaints. Her response was.."I'll take your plate to the cook and show him"-no apologies, no bill adjustment. My advice..skip this place and go to Ciselo 's where comfort food is always done right. read more

One of the oldest restaurants in Kalispell like Moose's Saloon. They have a really cool decor with children's riding toys hanging from the ceiling. I had the fish & chips which were some of the best I've ever had , it was so fresh. Soup of the day was Taco soup . I wasn't keen on the idea but tried it anyway. It was great! I think it is more like a Taco chili ; beware it has a kick heat wise which was perfect for me. I'd definitely come hear for breakfast as I saw some of the dishes being served. They have many options for food on their regular menu. I ordered the turkey Thanksgiving plate. It came with a generous portion of turkey covered in gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots, and cranberry sauce. All very good. It also came with soup or salad and I choose the corn chowder. Yum, I love me some corn chowder. It could have been served hotter though. That was $18.99. My boyfriend opted for the prime rib Thanksgiving plate. He got some sort of southwestern soup. He liked it. His plate came with a huge cut of prime rib, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, and garlic bread. He said the garlic bread was delicious. The prime rib however was very tough and chewy. The formerly delicious prime rib sandwich has been replaced with a dried shaved meat version that tastes like it was left uncovered in the fridge. The menu describes it as 'piled high' and it was barely two, very thin layers that were dried up and tasteless.... for $15. My husband's burger was also dry. I rarely complain but I did about the sandwich. I didn't even eat the other half, sending it back with our server. No discount was offered, no re-do, not even an apology. We wont be back. read more
