Excellent home cooking. Great menu options. Prime rib on Friday and Saturday and it was going fast. We enjoyed the dill salmon dinner and tomato soup with grilled cheese on Texas toast. It was excellent. Wanted a piece of huckleberry but they were all out, settled on a piece of cherry pie. It wasn't bad but cherries are not local. Great place to stop for a meal. We want to start this off by saying, brandy, do not think any of this is about you. Unless it is good. You were BOMB, and I don't mean like the explosive! If you don't know what it means, it basically means really cool or good. So, now let's get into the food dang diddly. Soooo me and my couscous got the same EXACT. Thing. And if you follow us, you know this is rare. We got the all American breakfast, just like us - American! But of course we welcome and appreciate all cultures. Ok anyways it was pretty dang delish. One note about the eggs tho. They were good but however, not exactly scrambled. More like a flat omelet which is fine if you write that in the menu but it was still good but yah brah we just wanted to mention that. And other than that though it was a really amazing experience at Cislo's Family Restaurant here in the beautiful and entrancing city of Evergreen, Montana. First, I want to be super clear. The people here are really nice. Which is why I hesitated writing this review. But for non-locals, I think a counterpoint is warranted. After we seated ourselves, a woman came over to promptly take our drink orders. Then the wife ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a side of clam chowder. I ordered the famed prime rib, mashed potatoes and side salad. Soup and salad came out first. Generous on both, and I was impressed at how fresh the basic side salad tasted. Wife said the chowder was okay. Entrees came out, and though I had been warned that they don't serve the prime rib more rare than medium, it didn't LOOK too well done. I genuinely felt sorry for the cow having lost its life for this, though. The first time I've ever salted a prime rib. Almost came across as corned beef with the taste. Even the au jus was kind of bland. And the horseradish? Be aware it's raw, not creamy. My distracted self didn't really grasp that until I was choking on it. Totally my bad, though. The mashed potatoes were also bland, too, once you got past the gravy. Wife's chicken fried steak was FRIED darn near to oblivion, and also lacking much if any seasoning. Midway through the meal I noticed several others had ordered the prime rib, and it clicked. Most of the clientele were, ahem, "advanced" in years. I mention it primarily as I've noticed over the years this demographic tends to find lackluster, cafeteria-style food passable if not "good", so it all started to make sense. Food was delicious and fresh. My hash browns were crispy how I like. Lots of veggies in my veggie omelet i ordered. Cooked perfect more than enough to eat. My friend had the fluffiest pancake. So big she couldn't finish it. With real maple syrup. Service is exceptional. Seated in minutes and always a server coming around to check on you and fill your coffee cup. We were vacationing in Kalispell and Glacier National Park and we visited Cisco's as the advertise the best prime rib in the area so we went, i'll just start by saying the prime rib was less than a half inch thick and we requested that it be prepared medium and it's impossible to make something so thin medium and it was the absolute worst prime rib I had ever tasted in my life, the mash potatoes with brown gravy were terrible as they were hard as a rock and the others dining with me felt the same way about meals a Ribeye that was about a half inch thick that was requested medium rare that came out literally raw, when brought back came over cooked, the chicken fried steak was garbage and tasted awful and was like a full bottle of salt was poured over it. The salads we got were the best part of the meal, the waitress was fantastic but she obviously can't be blamed for the horrendous food. 2 stars is honestly being generous. read more

The food was excellent, with a great waitress. We spoke to the owner who was working his rear off in the back, and he's here every day hustling. Most of the staff have been at Cislo's for over 20 years which speaks highly of the place. We were just passing through and this had 4.5 stars so we tried it. Definitely worth it. We are glad that they have vegetarian options. The food is always fresh, yummy and less greasy. The service is phenomenal. The table is set with glasses and pitcher of water waiting for you. It also have a sanitizer and other condiments you need for your drinks/food. The employees are always nice and friendly. They are on top with coffee refills. The only thing I wish they can improve is the quality of cheese they used for omelette. The cheese quality is comparable to Kraft single slice, unfortunately. Friendly service for a packed late morning breakfast. They gave us both breakfast & lunch menus. My wife ordered a patty melt medium rare, but was well done, and the onion rings were probably frozen, not handmade. I ordered the "Biscuits & Gravy Combo", which describes the hash browns as "smothered in gravy", which turns out not to be a good idea, as the crispy hash browns are all soggy from the gravy. The biscuits were excellent and the country style gravy was very favorable. I had ordered my eggs "over-medium", but they were more "over-hard" with one egg completely hard and the other slightly "dippy". The waitress had offered to take back the eggs when she served us, but I soldered on. This is a good restaurant, they just need to tighten up the kitchen a bit. read more

My fiancée arrived around a little after ten for a late breakfast before boarding a few flights just down the road. As we walked in there was about three couples or so standing in the breeze area. I asked the host when we entered about how long was the wait. She said there was about two in front of us or for an alternative, we could sit at the bar. We opted to sit at the bar. I ordered eggs Benedict and my fiancée offer some sort of burrito with bacon. The waitresses were extremely kind through our venture. My coffee cup did not go empty the entire time and felt as I took a sip she swung by and refilled it. The food was great. The hollandaise sauce was incredible and her burrito has a ridiculous amount of bacon inside of it. We ordered has browns with both. They were crispy and golden as promised. This is our first time in MT and we had no idea what to expect from the town but when we went in to Cislos, we were greeted with smiling faces and helpful staff and patrons! And the food?! We had a party of 18 and they accommodated us joyfully!!! They took our order promptly, helped us with recommendations on what to get and it was such a great experience. 10/10 recommend Got to the restaurant around 10:30 and it was already packed; already a good sign. Only waited about 20 mins for a table to fit 5 people. Water, menus, and silverware were already on the table when we sat down. The first lady we encountered only did drinks so additional coffee and chocolate milk was served quickly. She wasn't the nicest. Both drinks were great and a lady walked around with a coffee pot to offer refills continuously (bottomless coffee on the menu). Our server Kim was so sweet and offered real recommendations and her own opinions which we were grateful for. Food.... 20/10 Portions were VERY generous. We ordered; biscuit and gravy combo, cowboy skillet, 2 Cislo's hearty breakfasts (one with pancakes, the other with French toast), large biscuits and gravy with sausage. Both biscuits and gravy plates were absolutely smothered with creamy sausage gravy and as a bonus hasbrowns were under the gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection. After eating the restaurant requests you to not stay and chitchat due to the high volume of customers they have. Checks are paid on the way out by the door. My friend and I ordered through Doordash. We ordered fish and chips and a patty melt with onion rings. We also ordered desserts, which were a crap shoot since they don't tell you what kind of fruit pies or specialty pies they have. I called to see what they had, and the gal who answered the phone sounded like she was new and couldn't really figure out what we might get! We ordered 2 specialty pies since she said they had a caramel apple cheese cake, which sounded good. More on this later. The fish was not battered but breaded in Panko and deep fried. It lacked any flavor and was mostly inedible. The chips (fries) were soggy and inedible as well. The patty melt was poor. Served on what was basically white bread toast. The onion rings were just ok. There were several rings and then a massive ball of rings that were all stuck together. It wasn't pretty, although the ranch dipping sauce was good. I'm going to post this before we have our deserts, but for the specialty pies, we received chocolate cake and a pitiful, (for the price) slice of apple pie. We've had decent food from Cislos in the past, and they are a long-time favorite of locals, but I won't be ordering from them anytime soon. Full time travelers here, so looked at Yelp for places to eat. I personally wasn't happy with the photos, as the food looked really basic, generic greasy spoon type of food. My girlfriend wanted to try them and I'm glad she did. Moderate dinner crowd but seating immediately available. We were greeted and seated within minutes. Ice water and carafe of ice water were put on table as we sat down. Our server was Jennifer. I asked her if I could taste the gravy they have and was given the option of country, brown or jalapeño bacon gravy. I asked for both the country and jalapeño bacon. The country was perfectly fine. It's not sausage based but still decent. The jalapeño bacon gravy was amazing. we both ordered the chicken fried steak with it. It came with choice of fries and soup or salad as well a delicious small loaf of bread (wheat?) freshly baked and served warm. She got the salad and I got the soup which was ham and bean. The salad looked fresh and full of your typical side salad ingredients. The ham and bean was amazing. Fresh made and full of beans ham and veggies. Our chicken fried steaks arrived and while it was not the most attractive presentation/looking good, one bite had both of us hooked. The fries were crispy and tasted great. We decided to order some pie to go and have since laid them to rest. I'm not a big huckleberry pie person, but I did taste it and ask my girlfriend about her thoughts on it. Nice crust, tart fruit, (these ones had been frozen.) she really liked it. I had the coconut cream pie. Perfectly made light crust filled with coconut filling and cream with nicely toasted coconut flakes on top. Fantastic. I read quite a few reviews and a few had issues with the staff there. We interacted with 4 different employees and all of them were good to great. Jennifer made sure all her tables had everything we/they needed. Oh Cislos! You certainly do not disappoint! If you are looking for that hometown diner restaurant, Cislo's is just the place. Our first experience here was just a few months ago on our way to our hotel after leaving Glacier National Park. After searching numerous reviews for different restaurants in the area, Yelp led me here thanks to all the good reviews. Let me tell you, it was every bit as good as we had hoped! Even though we arrived not long before closing, the waitress told us to take our time and that we didn't need to hurry. Our service and food that night was 5 stars, and is the reason we made another trip back yesterday. Yesterday's visit was just as great. We arrived for a late lunch before making the drive back to Missoula. When we walked in, the place was pretty full and only had two empty tables. I'm always a little hesitant when I walk into a busy restaurant because it makes me wonder if the service will be less than standard. Well, I shouldn't have even given it a second thought because we had the sweetest waitress and she checked on us often making sure all our dining needs were met. Even the other waitresses would ask us if we needed anything when they walked by. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they were fried to perfection and were a hit at our table. Everything we ordered was delicious. I think I will always prefer these little diner type restaurants over a high end restaurant. There's just something about them that makes me feel like I'm reliving my childhood in some crazy way. While the outside curb appeal of Cislo's may be lacking, I promise you their delicious food and customer service is not. One visit here and you will feel like you are right at home.
