My friend and I came for the Wednesday, 6pm, "Strength and Boxing" class. There are a few parking lots around 500 Seneca so finding a parking spot wasn't a problem. It was a little confusing figuring out where the entrance to MLC Personal and Group Training was, but we were told to park in the parking lot on Myrtle Ave. and use the entrance on the same street. Once inside, we walked all the way to the end of the hall and MLC was through the doors on our right. We were impressed with how spacious it was but we were only on the top floor, the floor below was where the class was. It was just as big downstairs but the vibes here were awesome with plenty of equipment, music blaring, it felt like we found a secret boxing gym! Michael, our instructor, was great! He came right up to us and introduced himself, went over where everything was located (lockers, bathroom, showers, etc.) and showed us around the space, introducing us to our classmates. After that, he explained the warm up and let us go to tackle it. The class was excellent, putting us through various cardio, core, endurance, mobility, boxing exercises. My friend and I finished the class plenty sweaty and tired, but energized and proud. Michael did a great job checking on everyone throughout the class, encouraging us to push ourselves. After class, Michael gave us his card and highlighted the other classes and programs he offers. MLC Personal and Group Training is great! The gym is quite spacious and clean, with two floors, plenty of equipment, and a cool vibe/personality to it. The "Strength and Boxing" class will put you through your paces and make you sweat and Michael does a nice job checking on all the participants to make sure they're working hard and demonstrating proper technique. My friend and I are looking forward to coming back for another class!

This seems to mean we crawl a lot (that is way harder than it sounds). Crossfit generally is a fun way to work out because they are group classes focusing on full body movements that really challenge you, but there tends to be a great camaraderie. Rob, the owner, seems to teach 90-95% of the classes and he has a nice welcoming attitude and does not push hard on trying to sell you products and classes (if you like, you sign up ... he doesn't seem to really lobby people... they just like it or not ... most seem to like it). It's $150/month for unlimited classes so it costs more than joining a gym but you get something a lot better than a gym. If sign up as a couple the second person is 1/2 off. My only gripe is the class times. My kids are in school/daycare from 8am to 6pm, but there is only one class during that window. Schedule seems to work well for others though (I still can't get over how big that 5am class is!) Classes last an hour and happen at 5am, 6am, 9:30am, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm. When trying to find this place, look for the sign on Main street. It is behind the Apple Wood Cafe next to the Leon Beauty School (that Leon place keeps moving around though so maybe not the best landmark)

I started my journey on April Fool's Day instead. Yes, really. I began with a body scan to see just how "fat" I really was. Was is the key word here. Don't get me wrong, it took years to get where I was, but if I hadn't stopped the trend, I would be much larger today. And now after months of training with Nichole, the results are showing. I've lost some weight, but more importantly, I've gained muscle and real strength. Today I did seven full minutes of cardio. That might not sound like much, but for me, that is a huge win. I tried the trendy medications. The side effects and cost were just too much. So I went old school. Hard work, consistency, and guidance. That is where Nichole and EA Fitness come in. Nichole has the perfect balance of care and challenge. She pushes me beyond what I think I can do, but never so far that I risk hurting myself trying to beat my last session. She knows exactly when to push and when to pull back, and that kind of expertise matters more than people realize. EA Fitness has a great mix of machines and weights, so there is truly something for everyone, no matter your starting point. The environment is friendly, motivating, and completely judgment-free. No side eye. No pressure. Just encouragement and support from people who genuinely want you to succeed. If fitness is on your resolution list this year, or even if you decide to skip resolutions altogether like I did, I highly recommend checking out Nichole and EA Fitness and exploring the classes and services they offer.
