My friend and I came for the Wednesday, 6pm, "Strength and Boxing" class. There are a few parking lots around 500 Seneca so finding a parking spot wasn't a problem. It was a little confusing figuring out where the entrance to MLC Personal and Group Training was, but we were told to park in the parking lot on Myrtle Ave. and use the entrance on the same street. Once inside, we walked all the way to the end of the hall and MLC was through the doors on our right. We were impressed with how spacious it was but we were only on the top floor, the floor below was where the class was. It was just as big downstairs but the vibes here were awesome with plenty of equipment, music blaring, it felt like we found a secret boxing gym! Michael, our instructor, was great! He came right up to us and introduced himself, went over where everything was located (lockers, bathroom, showers, etc.) and showed us around the space, introducing us to our classmates. After that, he explained the warm up and let us go to tackle it. The class was excellent, putting us through various cardio, core, endurance, mobility, boxing exercises. My friend and I finished the class plenty sweaty and tired, but energized and proud. Michael did a great job checking on everyone throughout the class, encouraging us to push ourselves. After class, Michael gave us his card and highlighted the other classes and programs he offers. MLC Personal and Group Training is great! The gym is quite spacious and clean, with two floors, plenty of equipment, and a cool vibe/personality to it. The "Strength and Boxing" class will put you through your paces and make you sweat and Michael does a nice job checking on all the participants to make sure they're working hard and demonstrating proper technique. They said yes of course, and so we purchased the Family Plan. I came here to exercise a few times each month (prefer outside when able) and when I went last week I was told I could not exercise due to my Family Plan not being accepted. The lady at the front desk told me they don't allow the Family Plans for individuals long term and "The City of Buffalo prefers to have its YMCA members all paid members to the Buffalo YMCA, instead of a Family Plan" and she then said she would "let me exercise today free of charge as a curtesy but I have to sign up for an individual plan and unenroll in my active Family Plan" To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. The whole reason we enrolled in the family plan was because we were told ahead of time via phone call that that was accepted and then I continued to exercise at this YMCA with no problems up until last week.

This facility has an excellent "daycare" and playground for kids to enjoy at while adults workout. The only bummer is they cap the number if kids at 30 (which is understandable). But with all the New Year's resolution folks flocking to the gym, this has caused my son and I to wait for more kids to leave before he can enter. My only other complaint is the gym equipment is a little older than say an Esporta. And there isn't enough room near the free weights. Beyond that everything is great. Facility is clean. The pool is nice. Tons of other to-dos like a hot tub, basketballs courts and sauna. It's not expensive to join. I suggest looking at their schedule which is consistently updated to see if the amenities you require are open.

On my first visit, the instructor was curt and unwelcoming, barking at me that I wouldn't like the class, in front of the class. She never met me. Knew nothing about my abilities nor interest. The classmates were kind and told me I'd get "used to her". Ah. No. No. No; wrong on so many levels. Especially when a newbie comes to class, who might be self conscious or introverted or scared to attend an exercise class. People will never forget how you made them feel. (Said Maya Angelou) It is a joy to see people of all ages and abilities using the machines. I've seen elders on the bikes and tweens on the treadmills. Wee ones stroll by from the daycare area to play in their own area apart from the adults. There are large tvs and music is also piped in. It feels like a completely non-judgmental environment, and aside from the group class encounter, it's my kind of place.

The gym itself seems like it attracts a good crowd of motivated people and you can definitely feel the energy when you're working out. This time, my fiancé found Pro Muscle Lifting Club on Instagram and reached out, and from the very start, the owners (or account manager) were incredibly communicative and welcoming. The gym is in Buffalo, about a 15-20 minute drive from Lewiston, but it's absolutely worth it. The equipment is some of the best we've ever seen--seriously impressive--and they even have dumbbells that go up to 150 lbs. they also have cardio machines. We were there during Thanksgiving week and wanted to workout on Thanksgiving Day. To our surprise, they responded to our Instagram message promptly to let us know they'd be open! Meeting them in person only made us more impressed. We liked it so much we upgraded our day passes to a weekly pass, even though we were only going to be there three days. The gym itself is spacious, well-organized, clean, and free of clutter. They have a few machines and attachments we'd never seen before, which made for exciting and challenging workouts that left us both sore in the best way. There was no crowding at all--maybe 20-25 people when we were there--which made for a comfortable and focused workout environment. For bodybuilders, this gym is a dream--there's even a posing room!
